Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

My 16 yr old son has been having problems in school for 2 yrs:Poor grades due to not doing homework, also seemed have low self esteem and some mild depression (caused by above?). Hanging out with a "bad" crowd and some drug abuse. He's been in behavioral therapy for 2 years - I finally said, ok, nothing I am doing is working (therapy, life coach skills, summer school). I was looking into wilderness camp for him too. But, I did not want to put my son on drugs for poor grades. I did not want him on amphetamine drugs - adamantly. He has been on Wellbutrin 150mg 1x/day for a month. The change was almost immediate. He wanted to cut his hair shorter - which gave him a real boost when the kids (girls) noticed. He has gone from a F/D/C student to an A student (it's only the 3rd week of school - so we'll see). Teachers he has (again) have noticed the change and love it. He is my son again. He still has the dumb friends, he still is smoking uknowwhat I am sure - but it does not seem to be his all emcompassing thought. He wants to go to the Jr Dance, he is exercising and taking pride in his appearance, he is talking to other kids too at school and noticing the difference in kids. I am thankful I tried this medicine. Even though the change is seems drastic - it feels "normal" to him, not like he is BAM someone new - just an improved version of him. My only thought is that after only being on this for one month his Doctor wanted to increase him from 150 to 300mg - I don't understand that - why kick it up (soo much after only a month) when it's fine? So, I said we'll try the 200mg - which is not timed release - lasts 8 hrs and if my son does not like it - we will go back to 150mg time release. I guess the 300mg is timed release - but why drink Mountain Dew when a glass of water is really all you need? Read More Read Less

It works well with concentration, but I have been having panic attacks as well as increased anxiety. Bizarre thoughts have accompanied the use of this medication which have made me paranoid and fearful. I'm done with it! No more for me!

This is the only drug that has ever worked for me and I cannot take the generic!! Due to insurance costs I had to switch to Pristiq, which does not work as well. I hate that insurance companies play with our lives like that

Had been on effexor for 4-5 yrs and because I just felt numb no emotions and the sexual side effects, just started wellbutrin been on 3 weeks and on 300mg still having ups and downs, panic attacks seems better, but my mind is always worrying about everything. Worry about worrying." have GAD and hope this works for me but if not well try something else. How long does it take for you to feel the best results on med>

Before I started taking this I was taking Lexapro and it just made me feel dead. I started Wellbutrin with a 150mg dose but I could feel that wearing off at the end of the day. Now I take 300mg in the morning and I find that I have so much more energy and my depression is improved greatly! On the other hand, I feel more anxious than I have before, but it has never been a problem for me. I don't have dry mouth w/ this like I did w/ Lexapro, but I do have a constant tremor and extremely decreased alcohol tolerance and those are the only side effects.Read More Read Less

My son had a bout of depression after school problems last year. He also has ADHD but refused to take meds. After a blow up at home, family doctor prescribed wellbrutrin. My son agreed to take it and has been doing well. Doctor said it would address depression and ADHD but that every patient responds differently.. For my son, and our family it has been working great. He is back in school and doing well, playing sports, and making friends. I think for our son it has worked great.

I took Lexapro for several years for mild anxiety, panic attacks, and occasional depression, but because of sexual side effects, a new doctor recommended Wellbutrin. This has worked for me. Lexapro had been good at keeping panic attacks at bay; Wellbutrin is slightly less successful with this, but the libido tradeoff has been worth being on Wellbutrin.

Wellbutrin XL has enabled me to function. I'm able to concentrate, breathe normally, get things done, feel less negative. Wellbutrin doesn't have a negative affect on my libido but caused me to lose 12 pounds that I wanted to keep. I don't know how people coped with anxiety \ depression \stress before medications like this arrived.

I've only been on this 1 day and has critically cut down my smoking. I was a pack a day smoker and so far today I haven't picked up a cigarette. I have a lot more energy. I was on Celexa 30mg once a day and had no energy. I didn't want to get out of bed and had a hard time even functioning at work. Already seeing results in the generic Wellbutrin I am excited to see how well I feel at the end of the month. My doctor put my on this for depression, to help me quit smoking, and to lose weight.

turned me into a completely new person....gave me a new outlook on life....it made me feel happy and content and energenic for the first time in many years....stopped severe mood swings and crying over nothing......only problem is my prescription provider is forcing me to take the generic buporian and it definitely is not working as well....i am so upset....why can't the brand-name wellbutrin xl company compete by lowering their prices so as to make it more affordable for senior's...
