Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...
My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I added this medication to zoloft for depression. While I think it worked to improve my depression, it caused me to have severe episodes of dizziness and weakness upon standing--orthostatic hypotension?--to the degree that I would sometimes literally slide down a wall to the floor, helpless. I never stood without something to grasp until the symptoms passed, and sometimes I fell anyway. The symptoms stopped when I stopped taking Wellbutrin.

my dr. prescribed welbutrin xl for me a few months ago for my severe depression and bipolar II. at first i didn't see a change, i felt dizzy the first day, and no other side effects. normally i wake up everyday with depression so bad it hurts like an actual pain (hard to describe but if you know what i'm talking about it sucks). after a month i didn't wake up that way, i was singing in my car i actually left my room. i'm not a big pill person but this honestly is working for me. FYI don't stop talking it even for a couple days, i did and felt the worst i've ever felt in awhile.Read More Read Less

I DO NOT recommend the generic version at all! I can only take Wellbutrin (purple pill.) I also take lower then the recommended dosage for SAD and I probably couldn't function without it for several months of the year.

These meds seem to work well for me, uplift my mood, keep me more active and motivated-focused. I tried to ween off a couple mo.s ago and my mood was fine but I was experiencing very low blood pressure, disorientatation, and dizzy spells that lasted for hours. I cannot say that this was directly related to withdrawal. My Dr. could not find any reason for these symptons. I went back on my meds after that, because of personal problems as well, and they seem to work better now, I think I was getting used to the dosage... overall it seems to work well, I do still get irritable which could be beause I don't take my 1st dose right away when I wake up, and I forget or have to skip my second dose because it is too late in the day to take it..Read More Read Less

This was the worst thing I could have ever put in my mouth! It made me suicidal and cried uncontrollably for no reason what so ever, made my skin crawl and overall the worst thing ever! Please if you are considering taking this med. make sure you go thru every possible problem with your doctor and make sure your dr is available for help if you run into problems!

I have been on Wellbutrin for depression for about 6 months or more. I am in love. I actually take the generic form. My doctor prescribed this after I told her Lexapro wasn't working as well as it had in the past. I am currently on 4 different meds for other problems and I take ALL them at night because all of the says "may cause drowiness" and I don't want to risk my life or my families. I forgot to take it for several days a while back and I all I could do is cry. My friends asked me why was I crying and I all I could say was I don't know. Now the joke is "I'm allright as long as I am on my meds", but the reality is it is true. I am on a level playing field and I feel incontrol of my life which I haven't felt as long as I can remeber. For me this is not a good medication. I have extreme uncontrollable sweating, cravings for chocolate & I already have cravings for chocolate. My anxiety has increased, I'm short with co-workers & customers & I cannot have that at work.I seem to have irritibility and am hostile & very upset at a lot of things that never bothered me. I seem to have increased hunger, I'm eating more not less like some have stated here. The sweating is horrible, it comes on with no warning. I have an appointment with my Doctor to change my meds to something else. I am not taking this one. Read More Read Less
