Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I have Lupus and alot of the problems associated with it so i'm on several meds. My rheumatologist prescibed this for the arthritis and i took 1 pill. That was the biggest mistake i made. It brought on the worst migraine i've ever had and i thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. Not to mention it did nothing for what he said it would.

I have been on this medication for 8 months on 400mg a day for depression. I have tried over anti-depressents with SSRI's and have become allergic. This medication has not worked for me at all. I still cry all the time and see no change in my mood. Im out of options.

I have been taking this medication (250mg in morning and 100mg late afternoon) After years of use, I feel it's efficacity is weakening and my symptoms are coming back. Does this medication wear out?

I have tried all kinds of anti depressants due to obsessive negative thinking, and major depressive disorder; I dont' notice a huge change in my mood on this drug, i still cry for hours every day and have major mood swings, it dries out my mouth and my gential area so sex can be painful if not properly prepared, on too high a doese it made me twitch and tremor and made me a little jumpy, on a lesser dose the tremors are minimal but I am tired all day everyday, have little energy, has affected my sex drive a bit but no weight gain. Basically it causes sexual side effects and fatigue and does little else for my mental or emotional state. A fairly safe drug side effect wise I guess but I am still massively depressed. ANyone know of a drug to stop the ANTS and NOT cause weight gain? Been on this drug for about 3 years. Not really loving it. Oh, if you take it in the morning it DOES cause sleepiness and shakes for a couple hours.Read More Read Less

I just wanted to quickly warn people about this drug. For the first three days I felt like I was on a wonderful, happy high. Everything started seeming surreal and I developed these uncontrollable muscle twitches all over my body. They wouldn't go away and I had to go to urgent care. I thought I was going to have a full blown seizure or something which I've never had problems with before. It's been years since I've been on this drug and I still have muscle issues that are there permenantly. I HATE THIS DRUG! The doctors don't even know why my body reacted like that to the drug or what to do for my muscle twitching/damage.Read More Read Less

I take 150 mg of Wellbutrin, 200 mg of Lamictal, 300 mg of Effexor XR, and 400 mg of Provigil. If I was taking Wellbutrin on alone, it would not be effective in reducing my depression. In my case, I see Wellbutrin as an enhancer, or an enhancee.

I have taken this med on and off for several years and can tell you that every person is very different and all of the other antidepressants we tried before this one gave me very sad thoughts. I used this one and I was able to do the things that I needed. I need it to focus and stay on task. It also gives me a bit of energy. It does come with its side effects just like the rest and you will have to determine is it worth it in the end for you. In my case the benefits out weigh the effects. I have dry mouth and headaches and some tension at times, but most of the time I am mellow. This is very important to me as I hate high strung people even my self when I can't control my racing thoughts and brain fog. It is a great drug in my opinion. Read More Read Less

I originally started on the 150 mg dose with some shakes and slight dizziness that all went away within the first week. I didn't quite feel back to my old self and was bumped to 300 mg. With that i have increased energy and don't feel like spending 12 hours a day sleeping.

After 4 weeks of taking this medication, I broke out in hives. I began this medication after several years of successfully taking Prozac. My doctor switched me to wellbutrin because I was starting to feel like my old depressed self. He started me at 150 mg a day for 7 days then going up to 300 mg a day and going off Prozac. Wellbutrin was amazing for me. I had energy, i wanted to do stuff again and most of all i wasn't sleeping all the time. If it wasn't for the hives, this would have been the depression medication for me.Read More Read Less

Used this to quit smoking a few years ago, and then stayed on it as an anti-depressant. Found it to be easy on my system (little side effects presented), and effective, particularly for quitting smoking. Had a hard time coming off of it, as is the case with most anti-depressants, would recommend a real plan with your doctor on how to deal with this possibility.

I took Wellbutrin for over 1 yr to help me quit smoking; but it was completely ineffective for me. I could not tell any difference the day I started or the day I stopped. I was finally able to quit with Chantix, with no side effects other than vivid dreams, not nightmares. I dreamed in color and could remember everything the next morning.

I have been on the generic formula, 150 mg extended release for about a month. I've been very satisfied with the results. My mood has improved and I feel like I have a lot more energy. Prior to starting the medication, I was having trouble getting motivated to do just about everything, and I've found that it's been a lot easier to get myself to do things (e.g. washing the dishes) than it was before. As far as side effects, I experienced some insomnia for the first few days, but that was completely gone within a week. I didn't experience any other adverse side effects. Read More Read Less

39YR female - use Anger management (PMS) I have been on this drug for 4 weeks. I take 150mg. Works well. I had no symptoms of PMS other than a headache which is normal. I have become more energetic, think clearer, and focused. I have also lost 5lbs so far. Side effects experienced are - dry mouth, dry lips, trouble sleeping (I can stay awake like I'm a teen again)some constipation at first, and I had one dizzy spell that lasted about 3 secs. I possibly had a headache or two. I suffer from migraines also. I do eat less since I am focused, I'm not constantly reaching for food. I am in school and can actually read a chapter and remember what I read. I still over react some but have only been on the drug 4 weeks. I don't dwell on things like that anymore. Once they happen, it quickly goes away. I love this drug so far. My pharmacy tried to make me take the generic. I gave it back and asked for the Brand. I have to pay more, but read horror stories about the generic version. Incidently, my pharmacy covers this drug as non formulary but the SR version is formulary. I'm working on that too.Read More Read Less
