Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I had a serious problem with the generic wellbutrin- after a month of increasingly uncomfortable symptoms, I realized they had started with the generic. I could not get a good breath in- it was tight and no matter how hard I tried, it would take 5 or 6 deep breaths/yawns before I got one breath, then the process would start over. I had chest pain/tightness and an incredibly fast heartbeat. I exercise regularly and am only 24, so this was unusual. I ended up in the ER because my chest hurt so bad I worried I was damaging my heart. They couldn't find anything and wouldn't believe my generic accusation, until a social worker called a psychiatrist who confirmed my symptoms as a common side effect from this generic. I took Wellbutrin for anxiety and depression 8 years ago, and I was fine. I know my body has changed, but I believe this generic may be dangerous for some. With coupons, my co-pay will be $230... so now I will be either fighting or beginning again the struggle to find an adequate medication.Read More Read Less

As a professional Guinea pig, Wellbutrin was but one of the anti-depressive drugs prescribed to me. My doctor thought perhaps it would help with my obsessive/compulsive behavior. It did not do anything for that. I guess it helped with depression somewhat. The problem arose when I noticed any time I'd lie down, whatever thought was in my head would vaporize. Trying to remember exactly what I'd been thinking would not get it back to save my soul. Sometimes, I would write down my thoughts, then lie down just to see if they'd go poof (they would)---at least I could read about what was on my mind just minutes before. However, even reading the subject would not return the thoughts themselves. When I brought this up to my doctor, he said, "Uh-oh." Apparently, I was suffering seizures on Wellbutrin, which caused my mind to reset to 0. I was immediately taken off this drug and another was tried--and another--whichever had the best sales pitch. I ultimately did find an extended-release antidepressant that works perfectly for my particular needs. Read More Read Less

I atarted with Prozac after my second child and I developed post partum depression. I didn't want to start taking any medication but I was getting so scared of just life. I took that for almost 2 years with very little results. I was back to feeling anxious all the time so my doctor switch me to Wellbutrin and I feel great. I actually want to participate in events now and I finally got the motivation to start losing weight. I have lost 60 pounds since I started taking Wellbutrin. I thank my doctor everytime I see him.Read More Read Less

This is my 2nd try with bupropion XL as an add on medication with generic zoloft. I have been on an SSRI for about 20 years. I am experiencing some acheyness in my gums. My dentist doesn't see any damage from clenching my teeth. I might be clenching my jaw...It just seems strange to me never having this symptom before, but now I do. Has anyone else experienced this? I stopped the bupropionXL because I thought that may be causing it, but even after months the feeling persisted.

I took Wellbutrin XL for a couple years. It took a very long time to find the right drug I needed. I had a baby and stopped the drug. I am currently on the generic, Bupron XL ER. I'm not feeling the same benefits that I had before. I think there must be different types of Wellbutrin, though I've been told they're all the same. I wish someone could tell me why they seem different. If theres a difference, I need to know so I can talk with my doctor and be back to the drug I need.

On day 10 of taking Wellbutrin SR 150, with Celexa, I developed severe hives and my face and hands swelled to the point where my features were unrecognizable. Am now off the W&C combo, and on 2 Rx and 2 OTC allergy meds. Terrible weight gain with this combo - about a pound a day. Also, have not been able to sleep at night.

I was on it for at least 2 years, and it was the first medication I had ever received for . depression. I was not at all better but at the time I figured it was somehow working since I was ignorant of any other options. However, I did start taking it when there were few options, i.e., mid-90s.

I was diagnosed with dysthymia & ADHD. Both issues have become worse as I head into menopause (very common so I'm told). I started with the generic version. After experiencing strange side effects (happy one minute, suicidal thoughts the next...and I'm NOT exaggerating), I switched to the name brand. Let me also state that I have never felt suicidal in my entire life! How scary that a generic med could make me feel that way. It is NOT the same as the name brand and I pay a hefty co-pay every month to have the "name brand" prescription filled. In any case, it is helping me with the mild depression/ADHD. And as a side note, I have develop tinnitus from the medication (not really noticeable until I'm ready to fall asleep). Read More Read Less

A life saver! Ceased suicidal thoughts, gave me a functional attention span, gives me the energy to complete activities, and decreases appetite. As others have stated, if I stop taking the pill for a few days, I find myself moody, listless, and starving. NEVER take generics of this pill without speaking to your doctor. Google "Teva Suicide" and see why it should be avoided at all costs; it literally almost cost me my life.

I have been taking this drug for over a year. It works well for the depression, but leaves me a bit anxious and unable to sleep sometimes. Overall, it is very helpful and I am going to talk to my doctor about the anxiety.
