Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

My doctor prescribed this after I complained of extreme fatigue on lithium and celexa. It made me feel better for a few weeks, then the effect disappeared completely. Now I'm feeling irritable all the time.

Four weeks of absolute hell!! Was prescribed this for anxiety after being on Lexapro for 2 years & feeling like I was in a coma, doc changed me to wellbutrin 150mg, it did increase my energy 100% but I suffered every side effect except weight loss of course (damn) & seizures, I had a constant headache & neck ache 24-7, tried tylenol & advil neither provided any relief, dizziness 24-7, rapid heart rate, nausea, shakiness, restless leg syndrome at night, inability to fall asleep, diarreah, hair falling out, constant ringing in the ears, all this started right away & continued 24-7 for 4 weeks, then I started hearing voices in my head that weren't mine!! That was the final straw, I threw it out, think i'd rather just deal with the occasional panic attacks!! It's fascinating how some people have no side effects & some of us have side effects that are worse than the condition it was prescribed for. Zoloft was wonderful with no side effects but it stopped working after a year.Read More Read Less

I have been on this medication for almost 7 years and it has helped a lot. 300mg I had no side effects, although I don't remember if I did in the very beginning. I have recently had my dosage increased during a divorce and I am having insomnia, anxiety, and weight loss. The side effects aren't bad enough I need to decrease my dosage though. Overall, I think it has worked great.

Was hopeful at first but within 2 weeks I became extremely aggressive and ate everything in sight, overall bad medicine, like all anti-depressants.

I have been taking the generic of Wellburtin which is (Bupropion) and have not experinced any of the side effects that others have mentioned. I was prescribed this as well as other antidepresants for over a year now. I feel much better than before I started taking them. I am under a very large amount of stress most of the time and the MD and my Phych doctor recommend that I stay on 300 mg a day, once in the morning and once at night. I also take 150mg of Venlafaxine HCL er plus 1 mg of Alprozolam. And yes you do lose your sex drive. Which almost all of the antidepressants do. Overall I do benefit from the drug. Also does effect my short term memory. Read More Read Less

Have been taking this medication for 10 days and I already feel much better. Mental clarity, focus and concentration are better. Feel more hopeful and optimistic. This has worked the best for me over all, having taken other medications in recent years. I'll deal with the constipation because it's the worse of the side effects, sometimes hot and cold, and restless feet. Has helped with smoking cessation. Getting less satisfaction from smoking. It works well for me.

I have been on this for a month now and have noticed no change, and my husband actually thinks my depression filled days are more often and more intense, I would have to agree. Went to my doctor and he now switched me to citalopram/celexa...hope this works better for me, I'm tired of feeling hurt and pain!

I am amazed at the variety of responses to this drug. For those of you who have benefited from it, I am truly happy. Unfortunately, I did not. I have never experienced a med with so many and so intense side effects. The first couple of weeks were actually OK, but once it built up in my system I experienced severe headaches, dizziness, ear ringing, nausea, night sweats, insomnia, and nightmares. The drug also caused my system to violently reject ANY other central nervous system drug I put in my body. Couldn't have a drink, a cup of coffee, or even take an ibuprofen without feeling just awful. So I stopped. That was 2 years ago. Not the end of the story, however. Every 2 months or so I get what I call "flashbacks" where I have episodes of the exact same symptoms that last about 3 days. This stuff tried to take my body over and it still doesn't want to let go. I curse the day I took it.Read More Read Less

I felt the difference within the first couple days and let me tell you it was not pleasant! I went from bad to worse, if I wasn't crying then I wanted to kill everyone! My fiance and I never fought, never doubted each other and always loved on each other. After taking this we were fighting constantly, I was accussing him of cheating on me(at least my brain was telling me that, my heart knew better) I didn't want anything to do with him or the kids, work or even the house. I cried when I knew it was time to go home, how pathetic is that!!! All I can say is I hope that if you try this then expect the worse, hope for the best! I will NEVER take this medicine again, even if its the smallest dose known to man!!!Read More Read Less

Been on Wellbutrin XL for several years and it really helps me get on with my life. Only time I had issues was when my pharmacy switched me to the generic, began experiencing anxiety and some hair loss.

I was recently prescribed the generic form of Welbutrin as a replacement to Celexa. It's only been about two and a half weeks since I started taking my new meds, but even in this short time, I've noticed nothing but positive results. All of my symptoms have effectively vanished. What's more, my overall energy has increased, and I feel a constant sense of calm and well-being, even in the face of some recent hardships. I have high hopes for the next couple of months; I think I may have found my 'miracle' drug! :DRead More Read Less

I suffer from PMS pretty bad about one and a half weeks out of every month. It took me several years to finally see the pattern and the toll it was taking on my husband and children. I spoke with my gynocologist and she recommended Welbutrin. My husband and I have been married for 25 yrs. And this has been the happiest I have been. I no longer get that out of control feeling anymore and I am able to cope with things so much better. It has been wonderful for me.

I had hopes that this treatment would work. But it has ended up making me feel unstable. I cry continually. Nothing makes me happy. I can't sleep or cope. I have become fearful. And started having panic attacks again. I am miserable.

I felt a little 'off' sort of angry the 1st 2 weeks, then notices my ability to focus (ADHD) on mundane tasks increased DRAMATICALY!. I took 150mg every morning and was doing better with my depression. After 1 1/2 yrs developed heart palpitations ( I have other issues) and had to discontinue, it's now difficult to remained focused. I wish I could still take this med, now Dr and I have to start searching again. Meds work differently for everyone, it is YOUR responsibility to know the side effects and SPEAK UP, make a nuisance of yourself if necessary. Some (not all) feel afraid to question medical decisions, some feel like it's not worth the bother. For your peace of mind, yes it is. Read More Read Less
