Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

After several years on Effexor my DR. prescribed Wellbutrin because I was experiencing a low sexual libido. My symptoms of anxiety/depression worsened within days after starting this new Rx. I turned into a raving lunatic, talking non-stop, not able to stay focused on tasks at work. I was miserable, nervous, angry, sad, never satisfied. Did nothing for the low sex drive. Demanded to be taken off after a month. 6 months later I am still hearing tidbits of what I was like when I was on Wellbutrin, in fact I can say I was almost fired by my employer because of certain things I spewed out of my mouth without regard to anyone's feelings. I am now taking Cipralex 20mg once in the morning. I have been taking antidepressants for most of 15 years. Generally, I feel better but you have to realize there isn't a magic pill, you have to find one that works for you. Read More Read Less

I have taken 17-18 different psyc meds before I was given WB. 1 or some of those meds gave me Tardive Dyskinesa. I have been taking WB for 20+years. I was taking 450mg a day. It seems like it's not working as effectively as it did in the early days. Now my DR has upped my dosage to 600 MG a day. That doesn't seem to be working either. I'm trying to find a new DR but hate the prospects of being hospitalized for the 5th time.

Have been on this med for about 5 years on and off for depression and lack on sexual desire due to Lexapro. First time I took this about 5 years ago I was literally having sexual urges constantly so my doctor took me off it after a month of "bliss but agony". Well, speaking to my psychiatrist who specializes in meds and heads the state board where I live, Wellbutrin was actually considered being used as a drug for lacking sexual desire when they did their initial studies. This was due to the results of the initial tests showing increased sexual desire of women and actual orgasm without stimulation. It was being studied at this time to see positive effects for depression. It helped me the first time I took it although I felt like a nympho. Back on it again 3 years ago to help libido but doing nothing but causing constipation...no sexual desire at all. Actually wish I was experiencing my initial use "urges" that caused me to stop it, was having "almost orgasms" at work and couldn't concentrate.Read More Read Less

I beleive there is a posibility that wellbutrin contributed to an overly high sex drive. It made my husband happy, but being that I couldn't get enough I went outside the marriage to be satisfied. It almost seemed to put me in a bipolar state. It never happened before and it never happened since. Keep in mind I am not blaming this all on the drug because I was feeling like i wasn't getting enough attention at home and these other men provided that for me. It just seems an odd coincidence that this all started 4 weeks after i was put on wellbutrin. No problems since i got off the medication.Read More Read Less

Having issues with constipation - although constipation is listed about 5th or 6th as possible side effects - with me it's #1 - it's terrible. I told my Doc. and she prescribed this because she had prescribed Wellbutrin ER, 200MG taken 2x per day. With the new prescription she also prescribed Doc-Q-Lace. I started the new therapy on a Thursday - Today is Tuesday - no bowel movement yet. Along with the new drug therapy I have included all old stand bys for constipation - prune juice - prunes - large quantities of fruit and vegatables - copious amounts of water and have stayed mobile to help move things along - no dice. Trying to find someone else that had this same side effect. My doctor seems to think I am one of 1000 that has had this happen.Read More Read Less

I am very happy with this medication. I was having problems on paxil (sexual) and so my Dr told me to try this. It has done wonders for me and I hope that it never stops working!

This medication did not help me at all & when i stopped taking it my ex husband that is also a drug addict started shooting my left over wellbutrin XL. Only the XL can be broke down. It gives the same effect as meth but if the vein is missed,it ruins the vein, rots the skin & ALOT of people lose their limbs by amputation. This drug is dangerous & should be taken off the market & people use the reg. wellbutrin cause drug addicts can't shoot up with that. PLEASE listen to this message, i've witnessed many people that this has happened to.Read More Read Less

I started Welbutrin xr 300 mg once a day. At first it made me feel jittery and I couldn't sleep at night with it. But all those symptoms went away and it was great. I lost about 15 pounds on this and it gave me a lot of motivation. The only thing is that I'm starting to gain the weight back and if feels like it's not working as effectively. I will continue to use it but I'm afraid that it's going to make me gain more weight? any suggestions out there?

I started Wellbutrin a year ago and it augmented the effect of another medication i was taking to treat my mood disorder. However, my attention span is still not satisfactory and I have serious trouble completing school work.

I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder almost 20 yrs ago. At first it was just anxiety, but as the years have gone by I developed severe depression on top of it. I've tried just about every kind of "depression" medication on the planet, and Wellbutrin (the generic, Buproprion) has been the one that's helped me the most. The depression has gotten 90% better during the time I've been taking it. Still have anxiety issues (but I've got Xanax for that...LOL)...but I'd rather be anxious than depressed any day. I have to take this medication in the morning, otherwise it's hard to get to sleep at night. And I'm carrying around several extra pounds, but I think that all depression meds make you gain weight. After reading some of these reviews, it's obvious that everyone reacts differently to this medication as far as "side effects" are concerned. For the first week after I started taking it, side effects were a little rough...my hands shook really bad at times, I had a hard time sleeping, and I was a little nauseated. After my body adjusted to it (and it takes about a week) the symptoms subsided & everything was fine. On the plus side ~ after I'd been taking Wellbutrin for about 6 months, I quit smoking. One of the nice little side effects of this medication. ; ) If you have depression and haven't tried Wellbutrin yet, give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. Read More Read Less

I took Welbutrin for about 5 months for major depressive disorder, and it gave me more energy and gave me the motivation to get more things done around the house, which, in turn, made me feel better. And unlike Zoloft, it caused no sexual side effects. However, it eventually made my throat feel really wierd, to the point that all I could do was think about my throat continuiously. Needless to say, I had to stop taking it.

My doctor switched me from Zoloft to this medication because I was pregnant. I only took it for about a week and noticed that I started having tingling and numbness in my hand/arm and foot/leg. It has been about a week since I took and am still having the symptoms. I thought it was something else but it is ironic that I started having this issue after I took the medicine.
