Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...
My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I have taken 450mg daily since 2002. It does excellent job in maintaining productive life. Only exception is winter, when S.A.D. so overwhelming that I "feel" like I did before I took any bipolar meds at all. Still take 450mg daily, year round.

The generic wasn't as consistantly effective as the name brand. I wondered if it was the way it's delivered into your system through the time release...it is a diffent shape as well can that play a role in the release? Anyone had that issue?

This medicine has helped me lose my appetite which is great. It has helped with my depression which is really great but in return, I have trouble sleeping, I feel tried, and sometimes get become over heated-very hot and then I will cool off. I am going to stop because it is making my ears ring all the time which I know is the medicine; which can drive you crazy! So, it has it's benefits but also it has it's drawbacks.

I have been prescribed Wellbutrin XL 150mg a day for 2 weeks then increased to 300mg. I have been taking it for 12 days now and the first 7 days were hell, I am feeling much better now. I was haveing extreme headaches, dizzyness, nausia, sleepy. I missed 4 days of work and spent most of my time in bed because I felt so bad. These side effects are gone now and I an starting to see small changes, feeling more happy and I am having a more positive attitude. It has not disrupted my sleep...If anything I am sleeping much better than before. I start 300mg in a couple of days....I hope it goes well.Read More Read Less

I have been taking this for the last 18 months. I do have more energy but I do get a really dry mouth and seem to be "off" balance a lot. In the last six months I have noticed by hair is getting very thin. Has anyone experienced this ?

My doctor put me on Wellbutrin to treat my pms and depression. I had previously tried other medications but was wanting something that would not decrease libido or cause weight gain so she put me on this. I experienced the worst side effects ever. Severe shakiness, overhyper activity, severe insomnia, and it caused me to have such bad anxiety attacks that I ended up in the ER after the 4th day of taking it. I have never reacted to any drug in my life, this was scary.

I have never been a depressed person of emotions and behavior. This medication makes me depressed, restless, mood swings, and sometimes hostile feelings. I am none of these things that this drug is causing me to have, therefore, I have dropped it. It was given to me by my cardiologist to help me stop smoking. It is somewhat effective with less cravings. It has made me GAIN WEIGHT BIG TIME.

I WAS PRESCRIBED WELLBUTRIN FOR DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY. FIRST WEEK 150 MG EACH MORNING, WEEKS TWO AND BEYOND 300 MG EACH MORNING. FIRST TEN DAYS DID NOT NOTICE MUCH CHANGE IN MOOD, THEN CHANGE WAS NOTICEABLE--BUT THEN GOT EXTREMELY LIGHT-HEADED. CUT BACK TO 150 MG AND LIGHT-HEADNESS CEASED, BUT ANXIETY INCREASED. DR. TOOK ME OFF OF IT AFTER SIX WEEKS, AND PUT ME ON VILAZODONE. THE WELLBUTRIN STOPPED MY CRAVINGS FOR SMOKING RIGHT AWAY, BUT THEN THEY RETURNED WITH LOWER DOSEAGE.

It helped my depression somewhat. I was nagged by an underlying feeling of anxiety and nauseous stomach. It definitely improved my sex life. I had been on Cymbalta and it worked well except in the bedroom. I give Wellbutrin an OK. I really need something more effective for depression. I may take the leap to a new drug called Viibryd which is hyped as offering good depression relief without the sex problems. I first got on Wellbutrin to knock out the Cymbalta sex effects. It didn't work. I may find myself on it to aid the Viibryd if it turns out to be problematic. Anyway, good luck with Wellbutrin. If it works for you..that's great.Read More Read Less
