Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I do not recommend anyone take this medication Wellbutrin. It caused my thoughts and behavior to be out of control. I took it because my former MD said, "if you have chronic pain you also have depression". I have never been depressed in my life yet placed on Prozac and changed to Wellbutrin. This medication made me end up in a mental health ward where doctors automatically place a person on anti-psych drugs. Anti-psych medications are scary and should never be given to patients automatically. Wellbutrin made my thoughts and actions so crazy and doctors since have told me that this is a common side affect. Scary thought! Due to the fact I was discharged on these crazy drugs to take at home I continued to have scary thoughts and odd behavior. This has been a nightmare that I would not wish on my worse enemy. Ive been in and out of psych wards for four years due to drugs that are on the market and we are told we must take the medicine a doctor orders. The ER doctor sees my medical records of a former mental illness and then send me back to be committed to a mental ward with several E.R.visits. It was a revolving door as I would be once again on medicine that alters ones thoughts and behavior. I am lucky as my doctor got me off of Wellbutrin and every time I have been forced into a mental health ward by an emergency room doctor, my doctor weans me off of these terrible drugs and I am back to my old self. I never had a history of mental illness until I started taking Wellbutrin and then being forced to take anti-psych medications will make your brain think things you wouldn't believe and behave in an out-of-control manner. My crying stints have stopped and I am laughing again. Even dreaming again. My mood is so much happier. Wellbutrin has made a huge difference in my life.

My husband lost his job due to alcoholism. Went through recovery program and is doing great. I, however, went into a deep depression. Wellbutrin has taken the edge off my life. Things that used to make me cry don't any longer. It does make me sleepy. I feel like myself, only calmer.

I think this medication should be taken off the market. While taking this med, I started to hillusinate. I kept seeing the devil. I was very scary. May husband said that it also made me very ill (mad) feeling. Please do not take this medication.Don't let anyone you know and love take this medication.

This has been the most successful medication for depression I have tried. No side effects and has been helpful with smoking cessation (seperate issues but a good side effect of the treatment)

I have been on this and so many other antidepressants for so many yrs I dont know what works & what doesn't anymore. I just fell apart at Christmas due to movingto new town & many other stressors. Doc increased wellbutrin dose to maximum and added Adderall stimulant. Feel ok emotionally but trouble sleeping & major muscle weakness in legs.

I was prescribed this medication due to being simply depressed all the time. The biggest thing about the med for me is that I lost 15 pounds within the 1st 4 months. I I take this med along with Prozac and Xanax. Another good thing I can say is it helped stop my dad from stuttering. So far, so good. I have not cut back on smoking though. I would recommend this drug to others.

I've taken this drug at the 150mg level for many years, just recently increased to 300. Increased because I wasn't feeling as good any more. Can't say I'm feeling much better, the sleeplessness has been terrible. I'm seriously considering going back to the lower dose. I originally started on Wellbutrin XL after participating in a double blind drug study for depression. Wellbutrin combined with Cymbalta was the study administrator's best guess as to what I had been taking. This is not a usual drug combination, but it has done wonders for me. I am able to hold down a full time job in an extremely detailed position. I'm known at work for my calmness! Read More Read Less

i took this medication for a total of 5 days. i took it to quit smoking and to help my moods as well. By the 3rd day i started thinking about death constantly.it wasnt suicidal thoughts just obsessive thoughts of dying and my funeral and that it was going to happen soon. By the fifth day i started to get scared because i was thinking about running my car off the road and i knew since i have battled depression since i was sixteen that these thoughts were and not normal for me and instead of being melodramatic about how horrible life was i was internally obsessing over these dark thoughts . it was very scary and stopped taking it immediately. after i stopped wellbutrien the morbid thoughts stopped. very weird. while on wellbutrin i almost succeeded in killing myself. one situation while drinking threw me completely into an absolute hopeless state. this drug is dangerous and doctors are way too quick to prescibe it if they know you are a smoker.

I was acting wierd on Lexapro. Wellbutrin(Bupropion) has been so much better, even let me easily quit smoking almost 3 years ago. Its so much better at least for me.
