Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I tried the serotonin-inhibitors like Celexa, but I could not handle the side-effects. Fortunately, Wellbutrin (generic) had no negative side effects on me, with the exception of weight gain. Most importantly, my depression is gone. I fantasied about suicide for over a decade and could not see the beauty in the world. That has all changed now. For me this was a miracle drug, even at low dosages (200mg/day).

This was the worst drug I could've taken. After about 3 weeks of taking, I have severe head and stomach aches, chills, night sweats, dizzy/light headedness and am tired all day but cannot sleep at night. At first I didn't have any noticeable side effects but after almost a full month they are severe. I haven't taken since yesterday and still feel very "weird" and not myself, to the point where I have loss of interest in my children, which is not usual. I would NOT recommend this junk to anyone.Read More Read Less

Only noticeable difference was the first time the dosage was increased, i developed severe dizziness and rash/itching all over my body. dosage was lowered for a few weeks and symptoms went away. dosage was raised at a later time, and did not have the recurrence of side effects. as far as being an anti-depressant... no change in 5 months

Firstly, it might be that im bipolar hence my experience with this drug. Anxiety, stubborn behavior, thinking your hearth would explode, paranoia. I was very excited to take it but it didnt worked for me, i had to quit it and back on SSRis.

Since I began taking Wellbutrin 90 days ago, I quit smoking, quit regular weekend drinking, had the energy to start working out and have lost 27 pounds in 3 months!!! I began taking this to quit smoking which almost immediantly after about 2 weeks I quit and I am still smoke free. I also lost the desire to drink which I know helped with me quitting smoking. I have always struggled with getting up in the morning and once the medication kicked in I began to wake up before my alarm clock no longer drowsy so I decided to finally start working out. I was overweight and have now lost nearly 30 pounds and did it the right way. MY life has totally changed and I am so incredibly thankful for this medication. Because of my success my doctor decided it would be best that I continue taking Wellbutrin! This is the healthiest and in-turn the happiest I have ever been.Read More Read Less

Started out on the generic 150mg for 1 month and after no change in my depression, my doctor increased to 300mg. My depression got worst and I started to have some severe side effects including hallucinations, paranoia and disorientation. I stopped taking it after I noticed that 3 days in a row I could not get out of bed. I felt like I was unable to control my movements. I could not use any of my motor skills and it felt like something heavy was holding me down. My doctor reported my symptoms to a neurologist who suggested that I may have been having seizures. Now I'm getting ready for an appointment to see the neurologist for an official diagnosis. I'm not sure if the name brand itself would have brought on the same results but I've been hearing too many negative feedback about the generic versions. Also not very pleased with my insurance for insisting that I take generic. The told me that if I want the name brand my copay would be about $300 for a 30 day supply (generic is only $15 for a 30 day supply). My doctor switched me to another newer brand which I am slowly adjusting to. So far the new meds allow me to sleep so I'm catching up on all that I missed while I was no the generic Welbutrin XL 300mg. I also gained 10 pounds while I was taking it so now I having to double up my workouts to lose it.Read More Read Less

The one thing I notice is that they do not appear to warm people who are addicts, either in their active addiction or in recovery, people addicted to Methamphetamine's or take a medication for ADHD,it can cause people to become violent, almost like steroid rage..,

After taking for 4-5days, unable to sleep. Work 12 hour night shifts on weekends. Took med in the am, then unable to sleep during the day, after the long night shift(only 2-4 hours). I have terrible taste in mouth, buzzing in head, headache, heart palpatations. Did not take last night, still have issues. Should I take at night? Took in the am for 7 days, until yesterday. Waiting on call from nurse at this very moment.

Not sure yet. I take 75mg twice a day and I was taken off Zoloft slowly and put on Wellbutrin. It has helped me lose the desire to smoke as much as I used too.

The first week on this drug made me VERY ANGRY at everyone. It went away after a couple of weeks, then my doctor switched my dose from 150mg-1x day to 150mg 2x day... I couldn't handle taking 300mg a day. I had SEVERE RACING THOUGHTS ! and STAYED ANGRY! Consequently, I went back to 150mg 1x per day. My doctor has also put me on another drug to help control my moods.. The one benfit of this drug it decreases your appetite! That's a plus for me since I use to be 205lbs....

I was recently diagnosed "BipolarII-Manic Depressive". I experienced some traumatic life events recently and planned suicide. Sought help and wound up hospitalized. I was put on Resperidone which i later found was an anti-psychotic med. I was extremely depressed but clearly not pyschotic. Post hospital psych doctor prescribed Wellbutrin 150mg 2x daily with Lamictal which is an anti-seizure med. Initially felt more cheerful and hopeful. After not sleeping more than 3-4 hours per night for 9 consecutive nights I missed two days of work from pure exhaustion yet still can't sleep. Also feel like someone is squeezing my heart and I am having night sweats. I will not take this drug ever again. Stopped today. Can't wait to get this out of my body. Don't know what my options are at this point. I don't see my dr for 4 weeks.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Wellbutrin for years and I did have a few side effects for about 1 week. After that the "cloud" that had been keeping me depressed stated to disappear! my insurance co. will only pay for the generic and I DO feel that it isn't as effective and I stopped losing weight when I switched to the generic.

Took it while pregnant, my son has autism, not saying it had something to with it, but I would suggest not taking any antidepressants during pregnancy.
