Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...
My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I am happy with the medication but have some worries about long term use. I have been taking for about 7 years. I have been experiencing lateral jaw movement and tics. They are not frequent but are a concern.

I have had fibromyalgia and take Lexapro for my depression but my Dr. suggested trying Wellbutrin. Bad, bad decision...I became paranoid, locking both my doors and screens. I could not be in our house without someone here. I was on Wellbutrin for one month and it is finally getting out of my system. Please think twice about using this drug but if it works for you...Congrats!

After taking Zoloft and having bad effects with it my doctor put me on Wellbutrin (bupropion). The main side effects I had were sleepiness, maintain weight, and a lil agitation (just in the beginning). After eight months of being on this, I haven't noticed a change in my depression...it's more like I don't feel anything, good or bad. I just feel blah. I have to say in comparison to Zoloft it's better to be on this. I had gained about 100 lbs. on Zoloft and felt in a daze all the time. My doctor has decided to take me off Wellbutrin to get me back 'up' instead of blah. I'm now trying Prozac and Lamictal...we'll see how that goes.Read More Read Less

I have been taking it for several years, I love how it has changed the way I feel. I am more ME!!! On the other hand I am curious if it has a sexual side effect. I have a decreased sexual peak count, so to speak. other than that this is an awesome medicine and i would recommend it to anyone who can take it.

I have been on an antidepressant for about 4 years now, Zoloft. I never felt the changes in my overall happiness before now. My Dr. added Wellbutrin XL 150 mg and It is a Godsend! I am very pleased with this medication and wish I had taken it sooner. However, finally with the help of my Dr. I have found something that makes me feel like "me" again. Happy and content with where I am in life. I still have days when I am just sad, but I am human and NO drug is a miracle drug and going to make you happy all of the time. An added bonus is that I no longer crave cigarettes. I was not a heavy daily smoker, but would smoke with friends and I no longer do. I simply don't crave it anymore. I honestly feel like a new woman and so grateful to feel like I am living life again. Read More Read Less

300 mg 1x/day made me so sick. In four days I lost three pounds and vomited so violently that my ribs hurt. I stopped taking it and am waiting to hear from my psychiatrist.

I have had many different antidepressants and all have had some side effects but Wellbutrin has given me the most. I have lived with the over heating and sweating, the shaking hands, the itch, etc. for these years but now I am going to quit. The side effects are too much, especially the over heating. I often work outside and enjoy outdoor sports but haven't been able to participate because of that. I have also gained over 40 lbs.,I have always been thin but not any more.6

Started w/bupropion with no luck. Doc started me on Welbutron with worsening side effects. First month I had the worst nausea. The hot flashes were incredibly irritating. I felt like I was going thru menopause on steroids. Then of course I gained weight?! I informed the Doc that I took myself off of the garbage.

Severe hair loss is one of the side effects I am experiencing. Could this be related to Wellbutrin XL?
