Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I started taking Wellbutrin two weeks ago. from the very first day I felt like throwing up constantly, non-stop. On the second or third day, I noticed a few red dots around my mouth with a white head. After my shower I gently scrapped of the white head (it was very small). By the 6th day I was still very sick to my stomach, had a severe headache and the tiny whiteheads (rash?) had turned huge and they covered my entire mouth area, upper lip and my nose, my cheeks and also my back and breasts. When I took a shower I used mild soap and gently washed these areas, no matter how gentle I was they would all start to bleed and it would not stop. I had to hold a tissue on my entire face for up to 15 minutes with pressure. The rest of the skin on my face was "dead" that is the only way I can explain it. I could rub my fingers across my forehead or my upper cheeks and the entire first layer would rub off into large clumps of skin. I stopped taking Wellbutrin after a week and a half. the nausea is gone, the headaches are less frequent and not as intense however my face has over 30 red pimples, scabs, an area of a rash including my back and breasts. I will never put another Wellbutrin in my body again. Read More Read Less

After a particularly bitter divorce and the suicide of my father I was a total mess! My Dr. tried many antidepressants, Zoloft, Effexor, and some I cannot remember. Effexor caused some improvement, but in the end I was almost hyper. We tried Wellbutrin, I think this was in the mid-late 90's and I have never looked back. I do not obsess on the negative, cry impulsively, or think suicidal thoughts. I am 100% pleased, have had NO side effects. Well, the one side effect was positive, I stopped smoking w ease, they started tasting zoo BAD!!! I later went through the slow and sad death of my husband in 2010 and did not react overly as I most certainly would have. I have nothing but good things to say about Wellbutrin!Read More Read Less

I was taking10 mg of lexapro I loved it as it had a numbing effect which helped with my grief from recent losse, however I gained 40 lbs and didn't feel as intelligent !making stupid and careless mistakes at work,I was put on 150 mg Wellbutrin and started to lose some of the weight. My appetite decreased ,I had more energy sound good but the really bad side is. I experienced a title wave of emotions.I became so so angry and ruminated over all wrongs that had happened to me , my grief was raw, a new doctor put me on 5mg lexapro and cut the Wellbutrin in half, just started and will post my results. I suffer from mild to moderate anxiety and had several deaths in my family. Bottom line start low go slow and listen to others around you if they tell you you are different.Read More Read Less

This medication actually caused a severe depression and thoughts of hopelessness and suicide. I have tried several other meds and this one seemed to have the worst effect on my body. Please beware of the changes in your own body should you decide to try it, and don't be afraid to stop if you notice you aren't quite yourself.

I have been taking this for the past 19 years, with great results. I had tried many other antidepressants but after a year, I would have such terrifying nightmares, I couldn't sleeep. With the Wellbutrin, I have no problems.

I have taken this medicine since September and have been very satisfied with the results. I feel more myself in combination with monthly counseling. I was told to take it in the morning as it can cause sleeplessness....I have had none of the adverse side effects that others have mentioned

I have been taking Wellbutrin SL for about 4 months now for smoking cessation, and let me tell you, it hasn't done anything for me in that area. In turn, it makes my moods elevated; for instance, if I get happy it goes to this hyper happy and when I get mad I get almost to the point of violence. My psychologist thinks it is helping my depression, but I don't think it's doing much. I am bipolar - mania and I was put on Seroquel. I think the Seroquel has helped me more than anything. Wellbutrin isn't that good in my opinion. And when my mom tried to take it, she broke out in hives.Read More Read Less

Been on this medication for more than 15 years. It's very effective. I pay $45 copay for Buproprion and would like an alternate that my insurance company would accept with a lower copay. Is there a comparable drug that may be less expensive. I get my meds at Costco and they offer great prices with and without insurance, Sometimes the 'without insurance' price is cheaper than my copay. Please offer a generic antidepressant medication that will work like buproprion xl.

Wellbutrin has been much more efficacious for me for over 5-6 years than ANY of the 10+ drugs I'd tried before over 25 years, even into menopause, but with serious and chronic spinal stenosis and both parents having serious depressive episodes over 20+ years, I have needed to supplement this drug and I'm struggling with insurance co-pays. Thank you so much for your assistance programs- they are a Godsend to some of us who have physical disabilities and chronic major depressive disorders lasting over decades.Read More Read Less

Had been taking Effexor with Lithium for 6 years. I gained several pounds, but it helped me with my depressive episodes. Not vanished, but I could handle them better and function and have some fun. About early 2012, my Doctor had me try Wellbutrin. I felt like I was sliding into depression again. Called and told him I needed another prescription, and used the Effexor I had left. I wish Wellbutrin had worked better for me. I think it works for anxiety better. Hope this helps. Medication is not perfect, but better than feeling blue every day. Take care. Read More Read Less

Also i have bad anxiety so the doc put me on wellbutrin, i have been on it for about 1 week, and i feel nauseaus and sick to my stomach, plus a strange taste in my mouth, i am considering going back to celexa, and try to go back to normality, again, as this shite sucks.
