Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...
My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

Do NOT take this poison! It is a high-grade amphetamine. Don't let any doctor lie to you about it. I took it 5 years and have been off it 3 years, taken off this poison by a nonAmerican doctor who doesn't buy into the "give-a-pill" theory of medicine. Wellbutrin has changed my brain permanently. I was never angry before. Now I live every day very angry. My life is hell filled with anger. This medication is poison. Please, don't do this to your life and your brain. Run very far. I would give anything not to have taken this poison. I'm very sure my Medicare paid for the mags on my first doctor's Porsche. Eat right and exercise. Do not surrender to the "medicines" Rx companies give you. They don't care what it does to your brain. They only care about their profits. PLEASE, PLEASE take this seriously. Or you will be awakening every morning irrationally filled with hate and anger when you never were before. That's where I'm at now. I don't know when it will end. If ever.Read More Read Less

Took this drug which was prescribed to help me quit smoking and was told it would help me not to gain weight during the process. I was prescribed 150XR 2X a day. Took for two weeks and developed a severe rash on my stomach, back, breasts. It did not help with smoking cravings very much and as for my appetite? I gained weight and craved sweets in particular. The rash was alarming. Took a week to go away and I also had issues with sore throat, lethargy and a few other feelings. I had no affect. Felt totally flat. I did finally quit smoking with the patch and an e-cigarette (best invention for long time smokers ever!) and although I was told that this rash from bupropion is rare, it sure did happen to me. I have heard that others do well on it. Not me. Read More Read Less

From Nov 2011 to March 2013, I have been taking the BRAND name Wellbutrin-cost w/insur $200 for 3mos. I did not gain weight (when I tried lexapro & celexa I gained weight & had strong suicide thoughts;I may have been on their generic meds). Wellbutrin has helped me drink less, stopped being depressed over who my family is not or if I'm liked by others, etc. This year, 2013, My Insur won't cover brand name-cost$425.00 per mo!So I'm trying generic, 4 wks now & it's HORRIBLE. after about a wk - almost daily I'm eating more, high anxiety, wierd thoughts, leg aches in calves, headaches; not every day, yet, enough I even get ringing in my ears. The generic is only $5.00 per month. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET MY INSURance to cover the brand name!! help!! Now I even think about drinking most every day & would like to start drinking at 11am!! I work. Why would insurance NOT cover what medically helps me? Why are they covering what makes me sick! Read More Read Less

Started off on 150MG of a generic to the name brand for 2 weeks as recommended by my doctor for me to get used to it before increasing to 300MG. As soon as I started the increased dose, all the side effects came on. I went from being depressed sometimes to being constantly down. Sometimes I was unable to get out of bed and do the basic everyday things. I started having hallucinations, feeling disoriented and having blackouts. I used to be very active and worked out 5 days a week. I gained 20 lbs while I was on it. The more I excercise and watched my diet, the more weight I gained. My doctor insisted that I may have had a previous underlying condition not related to the drugs. She also said she would consult a neurologist on my behalf. While I waited for her feedback, I did some research online and saw that my symptoms may be seizures (which I never had before taking the drugs). She told me that the neurologist suggested I stopped the meds as it appears I was having seizures. Within 2 weeks after I stopped taking them, the symptoms stopped. Ironic that I may have ended up taking anti-seizure meds to fix the side effects of another drug that was supposed to help me. My doctor still insists that this is the best out there at this time. Would love to try the name brand but my insurance only covers generic at the co-pay price. If I want the original, I will have to pay almost $1000 per month which I cannot afford. Read More Read Less

Since I was 15 I've been through 14 different meds for depression.... I gave up until I recently couldn't handle depression due to kicking Neurotin (3 years on.. horrible drug) and an opiate addiction (4 years.. even worse drug). I feel like me again. I workout everyday and eat WAY better. And yes, libido cranks into over drive! :) I started really noticing it really working around the 2 week mark. Best of luck everyone!
