Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I like this medication, although I did have to increase my dosage to 300mg. The side effects I have is that I have lost weight (not complaining) but is a concern because I don't have much of an appetite and I have been taking this drug for 3 months now...and my biggest concern is that I CANNOT sleep!! I feel tired, but when I lie down in bed I am wide awake and my mind starts to wander..If I do sleep I wake up every hour or so..My doctor has given me Xanax for anxiety and Ambien for sleep and neither of them work on me...Has anyone else had the same problems? I would like to find out.Read More Read Less

I am taking it for neuropathic pain in the leg after a stroke and it works. Tripeline also worked but left me very sleepy and useless.

One depression medicine made me sluggish and killed the sex-drive, so I was given this to offset these side effects.

I've been on this medication for a month now.Prior to taking this, my moods were very erratic. Now I feel more control and less anxiety. I also have more clarity of thought. It did cause me fatigue, so I take it at night, and sleep well.I've had some constipation and mild muscle cramps, and the occassional dry mouth. I increase my fluids and do ok. I'm enrolled in school, and I do not feel overwhelmed as I normally would, and I know it's because of this medication. My "depression" was mild, and my GYN prescribed it to help level out my moods. I used to cry and be angry over nothing, but since starting this medication my family has noticed a change in me. I can enjoy life more.Read More Read Less

I'm on several anxiety medications so I'm not positive exactly positive what it does alone. On top on Fluoxetine and Alprazolam, it made my panic adrenaline rushes reduce dramatically. It also made the skin on the right side of my head break into dermatitis, which I've had problems with but never this badly. I started taking Abilify, and I'm going to see if I can stop the Wellbutrin without my adrenaline rushes coming back. My head itches so badly...

I started taking this medication because my previous medication (cipralex) was worsening my depression severely. This medicine has helped my depression a lot! I feel much happier now. HOWEVER I have horrible and possibly serious side effects. I am nauseous and throw up nearly every day. I'm also dizzy and feel very weak. My heartbeat is irregular and often feels very fast. I have a general feeling of being sick and often feel like I'm going to faint. I'm going to talk to my doctor about these effects soon and will most likely need to go off this medication. It's very frustrating to find a medicine that helps with my depression and then find out that it gives me terrible side effects :(Read More Read Less

This Medication has Stabilized me more than all other anti depressants I tried. I have to take it in the beginning of the day(300mg). I was checking these reviews to see what kind of long term side effects this medication would have. Well, I have been taking it for close to Ten Years, and I just Do Not have any side effects from this medication to reference.

My 19 year old daughter had a grand mal seizure 1week ago after taking generic XL form. She hit her head on pavement and required staples. She had just increased dosage to 450 mg. 2weeks before. This is a DANGEROUS drug.

I took Wellbutrin with other medications over the period of 7 years with good results. I stopped taking the other antidepressants and continued, but then couldn't afford the brand and started the generic. Awful; dry mouth, anger, sleeplessness, mood swings, and stomach aches; I feared long term effects and so I quit taking Celexa and bupropion over two weeks. It was truly horrible; crawly skin, agitation, depression, anger, disorientation and nausea. I lived in a bathtub for two days to calm my skin symptoms and calm my nerves. Six years later I still experience these same symptoms, although not as pronounced. I don't feel my brain/body is the same and I'm staying away from drugs now. Healthy diet, exercise and cognitive therapy as opposed to "take the pill". Being open with my friends and confessing feelings often helps. I still wake regularly agitated and upset/angry over something that is nothing later on when I'm rested and awake--so agitated I could be awake all night. I wouldn't do it again; I'd take care of health by going to a spa and getting verbal/understanding/relational therapy. Finding a decent counsellor is difficult, but persist. A mentor, a priest, a mature relative--these people can give a 'reality picture' or feedback so you can get grounded over time. It's not just understanding yourself; it's finding a real relationship that can go deeper than becoming a good social character. Someone to confide your soul with...don't stop looking but use your discrimination and don't just confide in anyone. Really know and watch the actions of this person for character and their own self-understanding. If you are really looking sincerely, someone will appear and not necessarily cost you $100. an hour. For me, it was a woman in my church. Good luck to you... Read More Read Less

I started using this for about four months ago. I have to say that this medicine is quite useful for me as it lessen my temper. I also lost almost 4 kg as the side effect of the medicine. But 1 month ago, I've been gaining irritation and putting back some weight. So I don't know how it will go since I've only been using it for a few months. I hope for the best for everyone who's relying on this medicine.

Had taken other meds but experienced side effects - hot flashes, dizziness, decreased sexual function. Wellbutrin has worked well for me. Constipation is only side effect. Happy now and has reduced my SAD tremendously. Also has helped me to be able to enjoy social situations - relieved my anxiety.

Wellbutrin is the best antidepressant I've tried. It gives me energy and does not have the sexual side effeccts or stomach problems caused by SSRIs. It is a differnt kind of AD , as it mainly affects dopamine and not seratonin. Only lasting side effect is some insomnia , but I dont need as much sleep when Im taking it. If your AD is making you tired, try Wellbutrin.
