Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

In my family, my brother and I both took it to quit smoking, and it made us cry! Like real tears! My brother, a grown man! And me, although female, I was a US Soldier crying in front of my team... just sadddddd... and I'm not even a cryer - like ever. Terrible idea for me to ever take this drug.

I was struggling with some peri-menopausal symptoms and my husband's new job. My doctor suggested I try Wellbutrin....it is know to help with the above. I took it for 3 weeks. The first 2 weeks were fine....I even felt calmer (even though supposedly it doesn't kick in for 3 wks). She wanted me to go from 150mg to 300mg after 1 wk, but thank God I decided to stay on low dose. The 3rd wk I developed itching and hives all over my body and the worst indigestion I have ever had in my life. I have felt MISERABLE all week long. I wanted off, so she told me to do every other day for 2 days and then just stop. I wish I'd never taken it! I plan to deal with this tough stuff the good old fashioned way. I am praying the withdrawal symptoms end soon!!Read More Read Less

My primary prescribed me to Wellbutrin after Celexa stopped working for me. However, he did not ween me off of the Celexa. The Wellbutrin took at least three weeks before I saw a mood improvement. I definitely was super low during that period. He had prescribed me a low dose of Xanax during the transition. My biggest side effects have been nausea, constipation, heavily sweating, insomnia if I take it late in the day. I aim to take it at least 12 hours before I want to go to sleep. I am on week four and still experiencing side effects, but I definitely have an improved mood so far.Read More Read Less

This medication made me manic, I even felt like I was high. At first I thought it was fun and amusing until I realized I couldn't function and would just try to rationalize what to do but end up thinking in circles at hyper-speed, to the point that I couldn't get anywhere, and moving from one park bench to another and then getting stuck again. After three weeks of this, during a family camping trip, I finally started having an allergic reaction where my skin turned a ghostly white, my veins glowed through a bright blue-green, my lips swelled up and split with puss, I had the fever, and had red blotches all over. Not knowing why I kept taking the pill another couple days before going to the hospital. I had a bad experience with this med but I have heard good things from people that weren't allergic to it.Read More Read Less

So far okay...but just found out I should NOT be on this drug because of a reaction when taken with Lisinopril. Dr should know that. It was my pharmacist that caught it. Medical Marijuana works much better,I am now free from Xanax.

I was experiencing some of the side effects but did not know it..I told my psychiatrist bout them and since they were unusual, he decided my dose (150mgs) wasn't high enough to be effective and he doubled it to 300mgs a day. I have been experiencing confusion, dizziness, unable to focus on a thought, unable to finish a sentence because a simple word eludes me. Done forget the profuse sweating, and uncontrollable muscle movements that make my hands jerk at inopertune times. I could go on like the chronic pain and high blood pressure. And there is a thing called a "false sence of well being". My husband says that I haven't been paying the bills, etc. I have no desire or want to make then dinner.i guess that's enough so sorry bout rambling.Read More Read Less

I started on this medication about 3 years ago and it helped me a great deal. Recently I found it was less effective so my dr. increased it to 300 mg. The increased dosage was just what I needed however it caused me sweat excessively. I could be cool and comfortable and then all of a sudden I'd start sweating. It took me awhile to figure it out because I knew I was post menopausal and didn't have hot flashes. Too bad because it worked really well.

So I have only been taking this medication for two days but I wanted to review because I see a lot of people have these terrible side effects for extended periods of time. Either they are not talking to their doctors or they need to get a different one who knows what they are doing. My NP who manages medications for a living starting me on this. I told her this morning, via email, I have had two nights with terrible sleep, waking up several times and feeling very awake! She told me if I can handle it try 2 more days otherwise stop taking it altogether. She didn't prescribe me a sleep aid. I can't believe some of the stories I hear on this about doctors. And if you are having side effects let your doctor know ASAP. Don't wait for your follow up. There is no need to suffer. Read More Read Less

I have been on Wellbutrin XL 150 for one month now. I have not experienced any severe side effects. I have dry mouth occasionally, some nausea shortly after taking the pill and don't sleep that well but I haven't in years. With Wellbutrin I am back to being myself. I'm not constantly worrying about anything and everything. I'm not dragging myself through every day. Suddenly grocery shopping or pumping gas is no big deal again. I'm able to think more clearly at work. I'm actually planning a vacation which, one month ago and for the past few years, would have seemed like climbing Mount Everest. I'm just back to being me. No better, no worse. I haven't noticed weight loss but my intense love affair with food has waned. I still like to eat, but its no longer my drug of choice ;). Very pleased with Wellbutrin. I hope it lasts!Read More Read Less

Taking this medicine to assist me with quitting smoking and other anxiety problems. I took it for 4 days and then I became violently ill. Stomach bug or drug reaction are hard to say. It did increase my anxiety attacks so it is pointless to continue it. I am going thru menapause and the mood swings are getting in the way of running my life. feel like im having a heartattack made me realize that I have to quit smoking. This was supposed to help me. but getting so sick that I can't work or function is scarey. the first few days I had the bubble guts and trouble sleeping. but felt like I had medicine head. not good when you have to drive. I don't drink and drive, so why would I take meds and drive. dui or dwi, still against the law. not good. Read More Read Less

i've been taking 300mg of welbutrin with 10mg or cipralex for the past few months and i love it. i'm calm, my mood has brightened, my migraines have stopped as well as headaches, plus i've lost a ton of weight as i am not very hungry. midway through a meal i'll look at the plate and push it away. the bad only side effect has been some poor sleep but i've never slept well so i can deal with it.
