Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

At first it was difficult for me to take the medication because I was getting throbbing headaches the first few weeks but once I got thorough it everything was chill. My only Complaint is I've had increased tears. My eyes are always watery and I kinda always look like I'm about to cry. I get tears flowin out of my left eye constantly.

I've tried Zoloft and celexa and neither helped me. They just made me tired and have a very short temper with a lot of headaches. After explaining to my doctor that I have anxiety and not depression she switched me to wellbutrin. HUGE difference. I don't sleep the day away nor do I feel the need to. I'm much more patient and my mood is so much better. I feel like myself again. Every once in a while I feel a few thump s in my chest but it's not painful. I've had 0 side effects. It feels great to be able to feel a full range of emotions without being altered by meds. Read More Read Less

I USED THIS MEDICATION SUCESSFULLY FOR YEARS BUT WHEN SWITCHED BY INSURANCE TO GENERIC BRAND GOT MASSIVE MIGRANES. TRIED 3 TIMES. TRIED DIFFERENT MEDS UNSUCESSFULLY FOR SEVERAL YEARS. STARTED HAVING SEVERE HEALTH PROBLEMS. DIAGNOISED WITH NON ALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER, CIRROSIS STAGE A, AFTER 2 YEARS AND MANY CT SCAN AND LIVER BIO. THEN DEVELOPED WALDENSTROM'S MACROGLOKULINEMIA AFTER BEING SENT TO ONCOLOGIST HEMATOLOGIST AFTER BLOOD TESTS AND BONE MARROW BIO. NEITHER OF THESE CONDITIONS RUN IN MY FAMILY AND I HAVE NOT HAD HEPATITUS. I WAS GOING TO GO BACK ON WELLBURTIN, BECAUSE IT WAS THE ONLY DRUG THAT HAD WORKED FOR MY DEPRESSION, GOT THE PRESCRIPTION AND TOOK TWO DOSES HAD SEVERE PAIN IN LIVER AREA FOR 2 DAYS, NO SLEEP, NO FOOD,EXCESSIVE PAIN. READ WARNINGS AND SAW I SHOULD NOT BE TAKING THIS. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS DRUG CONTRIBUTED TO MY PROBLEMS BUT I KNOW THAT IT WILL NOT BE TAKEN BY ME AGAIN. I AM NOW LOOKING FORWARD TO A LIVER TRANSPLANT AND IV TREATMENT FOR THE WALDENSTROM'S THERE IS NO CURE FOR EITHER OF THESE DISEASES. Read More Read Less

I started on 150mg about 4 weeks ago and it has made a huge difference in my mood. I have been taking Prozac for 2 years and it helps but didn't quite get me to feeling good most of the time (just less bad than I was). Adding Wellbutrin (you can take both) has made all the difference. And it has really helped me focus on work. Prior to Wellbutrin I would start to work and then get quickly bored or distracted and do something else. I had a hard time just getting something started. Wellbutrin has made a very big change in this area. I still get distracted a little but not as much. I may ask to try 300mg when I go see my Dr. But I'm much better off than I was. I didn't even know that I had ADD symptoms, but now I think that's probably what I have had. I am so much happier. Only side effect I notice is that I seem to sleep harder. But that's not a bad thing.Read More Read Less

I was very young when i took this and they never told me 1% of these side effects. How is this medicine still on the market? How is this supposed to help anyone? I am baffled by what I just read.

Name brand Wellbutrin XL works well. Generic Wellbutrin like bupropion XL DOES NOT WoRK. No way is the same formula in name brand , the exact formula in bupropion XL. It does not work at all for me? What have other patients or FDA experiences with bupropion been? My Insurance insist they are the same. What are other patients views between the two?

After being on this medication for a few weeks, I began having severe headaches, nausea, profuse sweating, and chest pains, was taken to hospital to get checked out after several days of the above effects, nothing could explain the effects, except that it could have been caused by this medication, I have stopped taking it and all the problems are gone.

Wellbutrin was a nightmare. I was on it for nine months. Prior to that, I was taking Sertraline. By the fifth month, I began to envision myself driving into sand-filled cans before highway overpasses, jumping off the local bridge to the river below, and jumping off the building I work. As you can imagine, I stopped taking it and afraid to take antidepressants again.

I used this medication to give up a filthy habit that was starting to depress me. I took it for about two months before I set my quit date. I was very hesitant, I did not think it would help me quit because I had tried so may other things in the past. It worked. You do have to be determined but it helped and I am still nt smoking and I havent taken the mediaction in about four months. If you are serious about quiting, I would highly reccomend giving this a try.

I started Wellbutrin XL 150 for 4 days then went up to 300. Within a week I found it was working and now, 3 weeks later it has done wonders for my moods. I was very crabby to my husband and daughters and didnt really want anything to do with them. Now Im happy most of the time and more relaxed at home so I can enjoy my family. Also feeling more motivated to exercise and lose a few pounds! A huge plus, no sexual side effects! W/ Lexapro I was having a really hard time orgasaming.

I've been on this drug for many years. It has worked well for me,but now I have more side effects than I did 2 years ago. Tremors in the morning, headaches always, forgetfulness and focusing has gotten worse, increased appetite, nausea increased. Pretty much every side affect has increased, but it still helps me with mood swings, anger issues, cry very little and have hardly any anxiety. I can still function on this medication better than any other meds in the past. For me it's worth the side effects, for now. know this, I also take other medications along with wellbutrin. wellbutrin does not have the anti-orgasm effect that Lexapro has on me. That's why i switched from lexapro to it. But, Wellbutrin causes me to have contstipation. The constipation caused me to have severe diareha when I used dolcolax which landed me in the ER. And during that stay I was diagnosed with ischemic colitis, which may be caused by as many as 20 things or more, but in my case is likely due to meds. Long story short I'm quitting wellbutrin and looking for an alternative.

This medication was horrible for me to start on. Usually I don't experience side effects and boy was I in for a rude awakening when the doctor put me on this. It took 3-4 weeks for my migraines, cotton mouth to subside but I continued to experience dizziness and I had a lot of trouble with zoning out. My Dr. adjusted my dosage about 4 times in the course of a year before finally taking me off of it. It defiantly wasn't my cup of tea, but i've heard it worked wonders for other patients. Too bad it was one of the worst I personally tried.Read More Read Less
