The medication worked very well for me. But the only compalint that I have is that I cannot hear out of my left ear. I have been using the medication since the 22nd of December and my ear is totally clogged. I will have to return to physician to see if this problem will require additional medical treatment. I've tried to blow my pinched nose but still clogged. I cannot hear very well out of m...

I have an inner/outer ear infection and my doctor prescribed Ciprodex and Amoxicillan. After only 1 use of Ciprodex, I experienced total hearing loss in both ears. I notified my doctor immediately and he said it should go away within a week. It has now been 2 weeks and although the hearing loss has improved somewhat, I still have significant hearing loss, especially my right ear. My ENT doctor...

This medication caused severe pain, tinnitus, and hearing loss after two days use. I had neuralgia pain on one side of my head, which I would rate a nine out of ten on pain scale. I had otitis external and media which caused ear drum perforationn. As soon as the ENT started me on Ciprodex severe pain and vertigo started. I ended at the ER and switched to a different otic antibiotic and oral. By the next day my face looked like I had a major stroke from damage from Ciprodex. It took four weeks of steroids before my face looked normal again. Tinnitus and hearing loss remain. Don't let them prescribe these drops if you have perforated ear drum!Read More Read Less

In the past the drops have gotten rid of infection but the last 2 times I used them I've ended up with dried residue in my ear, which can be quite painful. This time I've ended up with dried reside again and I also feel like the infection has returned. My MD no longer prescribes cirprodex because of repeated infections and issues with the residue. A trip for those with residue, the ENT I saw told me to put pure olive oil in my ear for 5-10 minutes a day for 30 days, and any of the residue should flush out from this. Worked last time - just on day 3 this time so still waiting.Read More Read Less

These drops caused one of the most excruciating reactions i have ever experienced. I was prescribed them with oral antibiotics for an outer ear infection in my right ear. I had severe pain and swelling down the canal. I used one does of these drops and it jammed up my ear completely, so much that I felt my canal had collapsed on itself, and I returned to urgent care again. I had hearing loss, ringing, more pain, loss of equilibrium, and mainly the feeling of closure which is almost unbearable. Urgent care said to continue use, however i disagreed and when i read all these other reviews here I stopped. Also the drops were $200 with my Anthem PPO. A day and a half later with the oral antibiotics the infection cleared up. I used Ear Clear Oil from whole foods to help sooth the pain and swelling, and it worked great. Read More Read Less

After using sweet oil for a wax build up in ear per the advise of a nurse, I ended up with a swollen, irritated outer ear and possibly infection. Urgent care doctor prescribed Ciprodex. It is the medicine from hell! After 4 treatments in 2 days, I am in excruciating pain from jaw to temple and have significant hearing loss. You're not supposed to stop incomplete for a course of antibiotics, but I have to. This medicine is unbearable. I hope I get my hearing back! It is 80% gone in affected ear!

I had a tube inserted in my ear to relieve pressure. I got instant relief but later developed severe itching in the middle ear, obviously from an infection. This medication...4drops in the ear twice daily...took care of the problem within a couple of days. I have used it a couple of times since and, again, finds it to be most effective.

I was prescribed this drug to treat a bacterial infection in my outer ear canal. Because my diagnosis was correct, the drug worked to clear my infection. This drug is not effective on viral infections or for other ear problems. However, that is clearly stated in the literature.

I had a problem with my ear being what I called clogged. So the dr. Prescribed this med for me. I found it didn't work just clogged it even more and after 4 days of using it nothing had changed. I started to use a tool to clean my ear not a q-tip and hydrogen porixide and now I can hear.

Doctor said I have an inner and outer ear infection and gave me oral antibiotics and ciprodex. First thing I noticed was the pain in my ear went away really fast. My other ear starting feeling sore too so I put some drops in there to be safe and my ear felt great in an hour or two. That never came back. I've been using the drops in my infected ear twice a day now for 4 days. Some really negative side effects are: -EXTREME HEARING LOSS -Ringing in ears -Tight or pressure feeling Only positive: -No Pain Overall: I'm not taking these any more after reports of permanent hearing loss. I really hope my hearing returns normally. I was initially really impressed with these, now I'm a little scared and worried. NOT RECOMMENDED Read More Read Less

4 y.o. daughter's got tubes due to Otitis Media. She was fine the first time we used, which was ONCE for leaking ears, which quickly stopped. Was told to use during subsequent leakage. Daughter's ear started bothering her so I applied the drops and she immediately started crying due to severe pain, which I quickly tilted her head to allow to drain. Gave two tylenol and so far seems to tolerate it now. Will not be giving it to her again.

My son is 4 years old. Just had tubes put in his ears last month. Went swimming and woke up with both ears on fired. Doctor prescribed this and I finally stopped it on the 4th day. My son would cry saying it hurt his ears. He started getting extremely itchy palms of his hands ( not sure if this was due to the drops but the itchy went away once the drops were stopped). His hearing was definitely decreased. I'm praying his ears regain hearing!! Do not recommend this product!!

I have psoriasis on my ears, so occasionally I will get a gummed up ear from debris and/or cream treatments. The first two times I got this, I was put on Ciprodex. They were awful experiences. From the start, the drops burned the inside of my ear so bad, doubling the pain of my infection. Any sound sent searing pain through my ear. Within two days I had a startling loss of hearing and both times, within two days, the infection spread to my other ear. The second time, I begged the doctor to prescribe me something different and he refused, saying this was the best treatment available (Can you say kickback???) After the treatment period, I was not cleared up, so he told me to stay on it another week. I refused and quit treatment and my ears cleared up within two days. Now I see a new doctor and take different drops. He told me he has three patients that now come to him who lost their hearing fully FOREVER from this medication. Do not take it!Read More Read Less

I was given this drug for outer ear inflammation and infection. I'm not sure now if I really had either. I put drops in my ear per instructions for 8 days. On the 8th day, I developed tinnitus for the first time in my left ear and old tinnitus that I had in right became worst. I would never take this drug again!

I had to give this product a (3) star down the middle. I used this medicine twice. The first time, I had an ear infection and was prescribed this. My ear got worse after I put a few drops in so I stopped using it after one time and healed on my own. The same year, I got another infection and after suffering for about a week, I put two drops of this in my ear and the next morning my ear was completely fine. I was amazed at how fast it worked the second time but after reading about the hearing loss issues, I will probably not use this ever againRead More Read Less

I am going to write two reviews. Firstly, I was diagnosed with outer ear infection. When I learned of the huge cost of this drug, I first went to buy another product, Auro-Dri; it's 95% isopropyl alcohol in glycerin. I already used it for two days and my infection is improving, very little pain, but still clogged hearing. Because ciprodex gets such bad reviews, I decided to use ciprodex only once a day, and combine it with Auro-dri, 4 drops each. The auro-dri cost only $4. I got a small free sample bottle of Ciprodex from my ENT. When that is used up, goodbye Ciprodex. I'll write in 3 days to report my progress.Read More Read Less

Drops made existing hearing loss worse from my left ear. Two times now I have experienced an incredibly painful throbbing feeling right after putting the drops in that lasts for half hour or more. Infection didn't clear and hearing us more fuzzy than it was before.

The reasons that I have to select from are confusing but the website would not let me do anything unless I choose something from the three options. I swam regularly and suddenly I got this pain in the ears and it became worse. I tried household remedies like Olive oil and rubbing alcohol/vinegar mix and they did not help. I went to my physicians who prescribed Ciprodex which I have been using for the last four days. The pain has not subsided and I am taking Advil and some Hydrocodine I had that my dentist prescribed every night to sleep. But the pain continues. I may call my Physician and see if I can get an oral antibiotic rather than using Ciprodex. Other comments seem to confirm that Ciprodex is not beneficial despite being so expensive. May be the makers wants us to think that because it is expensive it must be good. I paid 45$ under the Medicare Advantage Plan (it says I saved 148$ by buying this). I would have saved 45$ by not buying it since the pain has not stopped.Read More Read Less

After an exam, he said it was infected and prescribed one week of Ciprodex drops and if it did not get better, to return. After the first day of drops (twice a day)I started losing my hearing in the right ear and could not get the hearing aid in the ear without a lot of trouble and pain. By the third day, I could not hear at all out of my right ear and it "popped" and felt stopped up completely--the hearing aid was impossible to use.
