I started this medicine yesterday. Oddly from the rest of the post I read, my doctor ordered me to take this medication in one dose--4 pills at once. He's very good in his field and has 3 GYN offices he works in every week. He also advised me to abstain from sex for a week and no alcohol and ...that I vaginosis is SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED in the form of traditional, anal and oral sex (if your partner ...

I was on 400mg 3 times a day and experienced most of the side effects. On the last day I had stomach pain and diarrhea so I decided not to continue with it. Not sure if the bad bacteria was gone. I would never take this medicine again.

Flagl and Cipro twice a day. Took with plenty of water and or food. Cipro kept me away from dairy so I missed yoghurt but mostly I missed my evening martinis because of Flagl. I have no trouble taking pills without tasting them so I had non of the bad taste problems. Pain has gone away. Don't believe I had any real adverse reactions. Thankfully.

This is the worse drug I've ever taken. The nausea, horrible taste it leaves in your mouth and the tireness is worse then the original Illness. If what I had didn't kill me I was sure this drug would. I stopped taking it after day 4. My husband found me in tears, sitting on the floor... At that point I decided to take my chances without it. My advice to anyone who wasn't started taking these is to talk to you doctor about an alternative drug.

Definitely killed my infection after 2 months of not being diagnosed, so that was great. But what WASN'T so great was the side effects. Bitchy mood change, extreme nausea and loss of appetite, terribly dry mouth that I've been drinking 32 ounces of water every hour, and a mixture of constipation and diarrhea. I also had the dark urine for the first couple of days. The pill itself is super thick and sticks in my throat unless I cram a bunch of food down afterward. And the taste is terrible; it'll sit there on the back of your tongue unless you scrape it off. I also took my pill with food, smack in the middle of dinner. So, if you think that "eating with the pill" will kill nausea, IT DON'T. Read More Read Less

If this is the best that medical science presently has to offer to cure diverticular infections then they need to work a lot harder. This is the second time this medication has been prescribed for me and frankly, based upon my previous experience, and given the proximity of the Thanksgiving holiday, I am debating not taking it at all since I am presently not having symptoms. The last time I took this (with Cipro) the side effects (nausea, abdominal pain, bad taste in mouth, headache, fatigue)were far worse than the actual symptoms I was experiencing then. I ended up quitting it on the 9th of 10 days. I'm not even sure it did me any good (since I seemed to be feeling better before I took it), although I was symptom-free for four months afterward. I'm not a doctor so don't consider mine medical advice. But in my humble opinion, there's no better way to ruin a holiday than taking this medication.Read More Read Less

I have had to take this medication several times, its disgusting. It doesn't matter what I drink or what I eat, the taste lingers all day long. Also bad nausea with this medication. It works getting rid of the infection but taking it is horrible.

This is worst medication I have ever taken. The side effects are FAR, FAR worse than the colitis I was taking it for. It made me almost unable to function.

Was hoping to find something to counteract the horrible taste and side effects of this med. There is nothing! You simply CANNOT get these pills down your throat fast enough and I am so sick of the nausea and bitter mouth. Don't stop taking it! I did and ended up in the hospital for 4 days. Just suffer with it ......

I have been on this medication several times for BV. I am very intune with my body & notices signs immediately. I take Flagyl pill form because my insurance charges $50 for the gel & when you suffer from this repeatedly the cost is too much. My only complaints would be the terrible taste as the pill starts dissolving as soon as touches tongue. I swallow it with water (empty stomach fine)then eat a few bites of something to remove bad taste. Also but not every time the pill form will give me thrush a few days after finishing treatment. For me my BV always comes on when I am drinking a lot of sugary drinks & social smoking too much. BV thrives on both of those. BV is a terrible thing to have so get it treated as soon as you notice a smell or different discharge. Read More Read Less

There is a bad taste it leaves behind right when I take it but goes away quickly. Really no other problems. Social gathering coming up and can't be taken with alcohol, that is a downfall

This drug works, but give me horrendous headaches. I just called the doctor to tell her I want off of it, and I prefer the gel! I feel horrible, weak, dizzy and my head is killing me. I've taken it before and could stand the headache, but not this time. Nothing, absolutely nothing will stop this headache, even when taken with food. The taste in your mouth is bad enough - but a migraine on top is just too much!

Been on this medication since June 4 due to C-Diff. Take for 10 days 3 x get off and 2 days systems return. Dr treated me with Vancomycin 4 x day for 14 days along with Flagyl 3 x day. Now Flagyl 2 x day for 14 days and next 1 x day for 14 days. My feet have continued to tingle. Hopefully when this dose is completed my feet will return and the infection will be gone!!!!

Diagnosed w/ diverticulitis but waiting more tests . Was on Flagyl & another antibiotic for 10 days + in the ER. Horrible drug but it did cure the infection. Terrible side effects, headache, nausea, vertigo, diarrhea, metallic taste in mouth & got thrush in my mouth. Still have loss of appetite one week later, have lost 7 pounds. I think it was not needed, I have never had any GI problems and prior colonoscopies were perfect. Now have to have colonoscopy & upper endoscopy to make sure everything is ok. Never want to take Flagyl again if I can avoid it.Read More Read Less

Have been on Flagyl and Levaquin before so remembered Flagyl is difficult. Am on it again and am on day 4. The diahhrea and metallic taste are terrible, but the pain subsided in 2 days. Trouble sleeping more that 3-4 hours even though extremely tired. Stick it out because it's still better than surgery
