I started this medicine yesterday. Oddly from the rest of the post I read, my doctor ordered me to take this medication in one dose--4 pills at once. He's very good in his field and has 3 GYN offices he works in every week. He also advised me to abstain from sex for a week and no alcohol and ...that I vaginosis is SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED in the form of traditional, anal and oral sex (if your partner ...

I was on 400mg 3 times a day and experienced most of the side effects. On the last day I had stomach pain and diarrhea so I decided not to continue with it. Not sure if the bad bacteria was gone. I would never take this medicine again.

Worked well for intended use. 3 days after last dose slight frontal tongue swelling and slight metallic taste for a few days. Tolerable as long as it worked for tooth infection which was brutally painful before using it.

After my first day, my BV symptoms were gone. So this is a very effective medication. I had dark urine, and the horrible taste of this pill makes it difficult to swallow since it just dissolved the moment it touched my tongue. HOWEVER, after I competed my course I developed a yellow coating on the back of my tongue. I went to my dentist and he said it is ORAL THRUSH. So now I am currently taking Nystatin to clear up this secondary infection! Ugh!

I was taking this drug with amoxicilian after a re-treat for a root canal. It made me dizzy so I asked if I could take something else and he said not with the amoxicillian. He said I could stop and we'd see when I came back if the infection was gone. Well didn't want to go back and not have it gone so I continued taking it. The dizziness got less but today after I took my last pill yesterday I have a bumpy rash that itches. Guess I'm ok since I finished it so will just put cream on the rash. I don't recommend this drug.Read More Read Less

The taste and remaining taste in your mouth is uncomfortable, but worth it because it relieved the intense pain of my infection. I took this in combination with Levaquin. I did have loss of appetite and some queasiness, but better that than in the hospital on IV drugs for 4 days.

This pill was absolutely horrible! First of all it should be coated! It's like swallowing chalk. My taste and smell was nauseating! 10 days of pure hell 3x's a day. I hope to God I never have to take this God awful drug again in my lifetime! Headache, stomach issues, sweating, nausea, loss of appetite, I had all the listed side effects!!!! Today is my first day off! Yay :) did it work? Won't know till I have a second CT. Fingers crossed.

Perhaps some guidance is needed here. FLAGYL is not making you sick. FLAGYL is saving you from a life threatening infection that can occur if your intestine perforates and peritonitis develops. Many of the unpleasant symptoms described here are being caused by diarrhea-induced DEHYDRATION. People can go without food for days, but NOT WITHOUT WATER. As your need for moisture becomes critical, your body sends you clear messages -- SEVERE HEADACHE, DIZZINESS, FATIGUE, CRAMPING. Urine is less dilute and so darker. Your intestinal tract is an enormous dry sponge. Mucous membranes are dry so nothing is moving. HYDRATE! GATORADE! LOTS OF WATER! Then mash some banana, dip pill into it, place way back on your tongue, followed by full 8 oz of water, juice, or very warm tea. Bad taste will be gone. Best wishes and feel better soon.Read More Read Less

2nd or 3rd time (over 10-yrs) to treat diverticulitis. I experienced many of the side affects - dizzy, funny mouth taste, but the side affects are minor compared to the severe pain for the infection. This was prescribed in conjunction w/ Cipro. I think this is to prevent other gut infections from the affects of Cipro. Biggest downside, no alcohol. I abstain for abt another 7-days just to be sure.

I wish I could have taken it, but the side effects were horrible. I am already suffering from a rare disease and didn't need added problems. I am not being treated for a certain infection - it's just a hunch my Doctor has. My throat was so sore I could not swallow, I was vomiting all the time and had terrible migraines. This was only during my third day of treatment. I wish I could continue to see if this helps, but I was so ill I just wanted to die. This along with the side effects from Tarlov Cyst Disease was unbearable.Read More Read Less

This drug made me lose my appetite completely, when I did force myself to eat, I was overcome with a feeling of nausea. I had severe cramping and was constipated. I started to take probiotics and fiber to ease the constipation but these symptoms continued for months. I will never take it again.

severe nausea the entire time, no matter what I did; ended up with encephalopathy (diagnosed by my surgeon), over one week past last dose and still dealing with issues from encephalopathy. This has been a nightmare. I don't know yet if it worked.

After battling BV for nearly 4 months, trying natural remedies that failed, I gave in and began this antibiotic. Within 24 hours all symptoms of BV are gone. I'll continue the entire course to make sure it doesn't come back! Side effects have been yucky but certainly tolerable- stomach pain, occasional nausea and just feeling tired and yucky. Again, it's worth it to be rid of BV.
