I started this medicine yesterday. Oddly from the rest of the post I read, my doctor ordered me to take this medication in one dose--4 pills at once. He's very good in his field and has 3 GYN offices he works in every week. He also advised me to abstain from sex for a week and no alcohol and ...that I vaginosis is SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED in the form of traditional, anal and oral sex (if your partner ...

I was on 400mg 3 times a day and experienced most of the side effects. On the last day I had stomach pain and diarrhea so I decided not to continue with it. Not sure if the bad bacteria was gone. I would never take this medicine again.

I am very sensitive to drugs and this one was no exception. I could not stay awake and when I was, I was very confused. I also had a splitting headache.

glad was only BV; thought was something worse. side effects were very tired, depression...had no problem with nausea/vomiting; I took right after eating and did not use any alcohol !!! I was on 500mg for 7 days twice a day...white pill. A little tingly in fingers but mostly just a lazy tired feeling and depression...abstaining from sex is actually the hardest even though smell is gone...hopefully is gone for good !!!

Terrifying. That is the only word that can sum up my experience on this drug. Before, I'd taken the gel and didn't have a problem. This 2nd go, I was given the pill. You've already read about the horribad taste. My problems started after two doses. (2x/day for 7 days) What follows is like nothing I've ever been through: Took first pill at night, went to bed. Woke up feeling nauseated, but took the 2nd pill. 20 min later, I'm sitting on my kitchen floor, pulling myself together to eat some more crackers to fight back the vomit. I started to freak out that, somehow, I was pregnant. That right there should have been my clue. Aside from that being impossible, it started an entire string of irrational, anxious & downright insane set of thinking that continued throughout the day and into the next. My heart would suddenly start racing while I was standing still, then it was suddenly back to normal. I'd start shivering uncontrollably for 15 minutes, then I'd be sweating like Ryan Seacrest watching Brokeback Mountain. I was 3 sec away from a full blown panic attack during a training session at work. After I managed to calm myself, I almost fell asleep at my desk. My abdomen was SWOLLEN and hurt at one point. My joints ached. My work day was finished off by a piercing migraine. By the time I got home, I'd been through the gauntlet of emotions. I felt unhinged. I was certain the men in white coats would be at my front door waiting. Also, forget eating anything. It wasn't just because this drug made me feel vomity, I had NO interest. It's taken 4 days to completely be rid of ALL my symptoms. Taking antihistamine was a Godsend; 45 min after the Benadryl on the 3rd day, I didn't feel like I was crawling out of my skin. The NP tried to tell me to keep taking the Flagyl; I didn't have kind words for that. She tried to tell me I was having a panic attack or heart problems. THANK YOU everyone who reviewed; you're the reason I know these problems were because of this #$^&ing drug.Read More Read Less

I started taking this medication and within ten minutes after taking the third dose I started seeing black spots and the right half of my vision was blaked out. And then I had a massive headache. Went to the ER to see what was wrong. I guess the medicine had given me a migrane. I have never had a migrane in my life. This was all accompanied with nausea. Very interesting side effects. Stopped taking it after that and was prescribed Cleocin.

After intercourse with my boyfriend (no condom), I developed a strange odour and unusual discharge. I knew it wasn't the same as my usual discharge. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with BV (I feel like I actually had trich but apparently it's hard to test for that so BV it was!) I took this medicine after trying to treat it with probiotic and vitamin c ovules to no avail. I did experience very mild nausea and softer stool as expected with antibiotics. By the end of the week wasn't sure it was 100% gone because After I finished the course of flagyl my period came and I was scared that the bv would come back as other ladies have experienced. Luckily, everything was still back to normal despite my period. So far I've been BV free for 3 weeks. It was clear that this infection was causes by sex and not by any internal imbalance so hopefully it will stay away. I learnt my lesson to always always wear condoms because this problem is gross to have. I also now take daily probitotics which is great support for our bodies. So glad its gone I pray that all you ladies will find a cure if this hasn't worked for you!Read More Read Less

On for 10 days with Augmentin for diverticulitis (first timer) and showed improvement within 72 hrs. After taste is unbearable, reminds me of Biaxin. Tired orange & lemon flavored tic tacs to cleanse pallet with slight positive results. Worried about alcohol contact: hand sanitizer as I work in a hospital, no one knows answer. They chuckle & say 'try it & let me know how it goes' very unscientific & unprofessional. Will ask for alternate treatment option if it is ever offered to me again.

I was prescribed this awful tasting medication as the result of a physician putting me on Clindamycin. I lost all of the good bacteria in the colon and as a result I was put on this. Some days I have lots of energy but others all I want to do is sleep. I don't feel like eating and some foods make me gag. Sleeping through the night is almost impossible. Memory is affected also. Never again. I'm too old for this craziness. I am drinking homemade kefir mixed with psyllium husk to bring back the colon to where it was. Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this medication for 7 days ×a day.for the first 4 days I had severe diarrhea, where I actually couldn't eat anything and stand next to the bathroom everywhere I go. It had been 5 days from since I finished my mesication.. I do have an odor (which I did not have before) and my vagina just feels so dry. I will be going to see a specialist very soon.

BREAD IS THE KEY : I've taken metronidazole 500mg 2 times a day for 7 days. This is my 9th set of themm seeing that I'm prone to BV. Every time I get them I get nauseous, sick headaches, stomach pains, weak and the taste is the worst thing in life. It always hits my tongue or back of pill. I never finsu a bottle I always leave about 3-4 pills because I can never finish and the symptoms clear after about 3 days. Well after my last visit that is why it always comes back you have to take the whole dosage. But it was such a hard pill I never could. Well this time I learned to wrap them in BREAD. Problem solver!!! I wrap it around bread, and just swollow it . its like u never took a pill :) no taste and no headaches no nasuea and I even take it without food sometimes. No symptoms what so ever ! This is a big help in my life. Because ive dealt with this for a year and a half back to back because I have a very sensitive body! Now if I ever need to take them everything is perfectly fine :) I recommend doing that , becuade I believe the taste is what causes the symptoms.....at least for me . -KyriéRead More Read Less

The Taste is the worst that never goes away. I have found that taking it hidden in a spoonful of applesauce swallowed immediately helps. However, it makes you very lethargic.

I was prescribed ths drug many years ago for a vaginal infection. I can't remember if I had any bad side effects, however, a few months after taking it I started developing psoriasis. I have always felt that the flagyl triggered it, and it progressively got worse till it covered about half to 2/3 of my body. Does anyone know of similar reaction?

I took this for a suspected bacterial infection in my gut. I also took cipro at the same time. I woke up the first night with severe burning in my entire intestinal tract...you could almost trace the pain/burning. I quit taking it next day and the burning disappeared. I called the doctor for a substitute medicine...never called back!

When I started taking this medication I felt much better especially I took it with Probiotic. But since last night, I'd been restless, nauseated and had abdominal pain. I hate this medicine because instead of helping me feel better, I'm sick to my stomach. why do doctor's prescribed antibiotic that will make you sick.

I took this medication for BV. I have two pills left. I believe the infection is gone. I experienced slight nausea, dark urine, frequent and urgent urination, tingly finger tips, stomach pain and mood changes. I think the infection is gone, and I'm so glad I'm almost done with this medication. The side effects aren't good. Why can't the drug companies make medications without terrible side effects.

Trying to get a bad Ulcerative Colitis flare-up under control. Took 500 mg twice a day for 14 days. My last dose was last night. I'm also on Prednisone, so not sure how effective this drug is and what side effect is coming from which drug. At first, made me dizzy, unstable. Last week of it, my urine was dark, orange/brown. Front of thighs, quads, are very weak. back pain. Extreme fatigue. Loss of appetite. Constipated.
