I started this medicine yesterday. Oddly from the rest of the post I read, my doctor ordered me to take this medication in one dose--4 pills at once. He's very good in his field and has 3 GYN offices he works in every week. He also advised me to abstain from sex for a week and no alcohol and ...that I vaginosis is SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED in the form of traditional, anal and oral sex (if your partner ...

I was on 400mg 3 times a day and experienced most of the side effects. On the last day I had stomach pain and diarrhea so I decided not to continue with it. Not sure if the bad bacteria was gone. I would never take this medicine again.

I'm 44 and this is my first time experiencing BV. I noticed BV and after 2 weeks I finally went to the Dr. It's an embarrassing condition, ain't it Ladies?! I tried natural remedies (Apple Cider Vinegar, Tree Tea oil) but those did not work. I'm on day 4 using Flagyl and the smell has gone away. Thankfully up to now, I have not experienced any of the side effects listed in the comments (I feel for you all). I've been taking Flagyl with orange juice before having breakfast and after dinner. 500mg twice a day for 10 days. I'll report back if there are any anomalies. Read More Read Less

Taking this drug was hands down the worst experience of my life. EXTREME nausea, tremors and feelings of doom, confusion, foggy brain, terrible cramping and diaherra and don't forget the nausea again. Do not take this drug if you don't have to; just don't.

I have taken this medication for BV about 3 or 4 times in my life now. Each time has been very different experience. Ive taken the gel and it has NEVER worked. Ive been dealing with BV for the last few months and have tried EVERYTHING naturally to make it go away. I finally sucked it up and got a script for flagyl. I'm on day 5. Let me tell you, ive prepared for this and its side effects for sometime. MAKE SURE you literally eat a giant bowl of spaghetti before you take the pill. And when I take the pill, I leave a tiny bit of food in my mouth, put some water in my mouth, then put the nasty pill in my mouth and gulp. That way I cant taste the pill. I made the mistake of having a glass of Sangria on day two and all be darned, I was vomiting the next day and felt horrible. The dr gave me the pills for 10 days, but I'm tempted to stop at 7, but I REALLY want this infection gone at once! I will be devastated if its not gone when my antibiotics are finished. Ive also been taking a very strong vaginal probiotic so I hope and pray that works. Flagyl is not fun, but ive learned to make sure you eat a TON and it wont be as bad. FOOD FOOD FOOD then flagyl! oh and chewing on gum or candies during the day helps with the awful taste in my mouth. Good luck to who ever has to take this horrible stuff! Read More Read Less

Cipro flagyl combo. After 4 days, ineffective. Taste awful as everyone has said. Very upset stomach and vomiting. Ended up 4 days in the hospital for IV zosyn.

I'm on Flagyl 4x day for 10 days. I don't know if it was mind over matter or the medication but I felt symptom relief after the 2nd pill. I personally haven't had any side effects but the taste of the pill is unbearable. I recommend yogurt when taking the pill because it helps somewhat.

Worst drug I have ever taken! After 7 days of 500 mg. Three times a day, I am going to stop taking it. I took someone's advice on webmd and wrapped the pill in bread and when I swallowed, it got stuck. My husband saved my life by using the heimlich about 10 times on me. It was terrifying. Please do not try that!

After trying several drugs, was put on this medication. Within two weeks symptoms were almost gone. Within a month, symptoms disappeared. After three years doctor said I was in remission. One thing I noticed from other reviews, doctor started out with twice daily doses for a month and then one daily once symptoms were gone. Know others who had no effect when taking drug. Seems to be related to cause of inflammation.

My daughter loved this drug (sarcasm). While having severe C. Difficle, she was prescribed this medicine. We didn't know she was allergic to Flagyl at the time, but otherwise the taste was so appalling, she threw up constantly. It also gave her a rash from head to toe. The best part is, the drug was totally infective! Super dissipointed.

I have to defend the "bad taste" crowd because it was never the actual taste of the pill for me and, I didn't get the constant, stomach churning, salty/soapy taste until the last day but I stopped taking it a week ago and the taste hasn't diminished a bit and its bad enough that its making me nauseous. That said, I know it will eventually and that infection wasn't going to go away on its own so its a necessary evil. I would like to share with others the only thing I've found that helps and that is brushing my teeth and tongue with baking soda. It usually helps for about an hour. Strait, raw, ginger helps while it is in my mouth but the taste comes back immediately. I got probiotics today in the hopes that whatever is causing the taste can be addressed and I can only say that I hope it works. Believe me, the taste is a real problem, and its not the taste of the actual pill. Those that don't get it should just thank their lucky stars but, as unpleasant as it might be, its no where near as bad as the condition the drug is treating.Read More Read Less

Diverticulitis is painful enough but when you receive the gift of nausea and metallic taste in your mouth, from this drug you want to pull the covers over your head and cry. The nausea comes in waves, like you are on a boat at sea. Only three more days, I can do this. Sex or alcohol? No thanks, I don't want to move.

I was compelled to review due to all the negative reviews. STOP reading these reviews from people who seek out somewhere to complain and scare others. Take with food, eat yogurt and go on with your day. Seven days later you have your life back. The mild side effects are easy to get threw. After reading these reviews I thought I would be dead in 3 days, well I'm still here and the pain from Diverticulitis is gone. If you have a true allergic reaction see your doctor and switch, but the mild effects to 98% of us are no big deal. I took this with Cipro as well. Drink plenty of water. Not 20oz a day but get into the 90oz range. Enjoy the strange dreams!!! Review written 04.24.16 53 year old male first round of Diverticulitis.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with PID and prescribed 250mg 1 dose daily for 10 days. Still waiting for my complex test on gonorrea and clamydia since the normal ones are negative. I'm currently in day 4 and still don't see much changes. My discharge initially was more fluid and yellow with bad odor and caused discomfort and burning, but now it's thick and cottage cheese like and it smells bad. I don't know if it's actually working by thickening the discharge and if it means it's killing the bacteria. It still itches though. Side effects have been morning headaches and lower abdomen pain. Today the cramping is been a little more intense. Will update on day 10.Read More Read Less

I decided to write after reading all of the other very horible comments. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with BV. Flagyl was more than amazing. Everything cleared up. I did experience a severe headache around day 6. But this pill was worth it. So today when I recognized the symptoms, I called my doctor and asked for this pill by name. Benefits far outweigh the annoyances. As far as the taste. No real coating, just swallow quickly and drink lots of water for the duration. I was on WebMD simply to check out all the other added benefits this little pill could do.Read More Read Less

I was very leary about taking this med, but seems to be working without terrible side effects. As of right now, on my third day of use. I am getting itchy which is starting to turn into hives, but I intend on finishing this med despite that discomfort. The taste of the pill, please don't be a sissy. I just take it with water and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Urine color is darker, but I still have four days of treatment left. So, far I know it's working. I just have to keep an eye on the hives, but I often get those just from stress. So, it's possible the medication has nothing to do with my hives. Time will tell. I just want the infection gone and back to having a sex life with my hubby.Read More Read Less

I just feel wiped out taking this drug...all I want to do is sleep. On the 2nd day, I developed a severe migraine. And I have a dry mouth. I'm on day #4...another 10 days to go.

I almost did not take this medicine because of the reviews I read. I do not like taking meds as is, so my anxiety of new medicines, mixed with the horrible comments from this particular medicine, was enough to make me halt taking the pills for 5 days after getting the prescription. I decided to try the natural route first (yogurt, tea oil, etc). Finally, when I realized my condition was not getting better with natural remedies, I sucked it up and started this medication. I'll be darned...I had ZERO side effects. Not even a headache! I took this medication after breakfast in the morning and after dinner in the evening, so that probably help rid any nausea that would have occurred from an empty stomach. As for the taste people complain about...Well, I've had meals that have tasted worse than this med. The key is to not let the pill sit on your tongue for several seconds. Just pop it in your mouth and gulp it down. The only reason I did not give this medicine a 5 star is because I don't feel it completely got rid of my problem. I have a check up coming, so we will see what they say. And the obvious - don't drink alcohol with this medication. That was the hardest part for me because I love a glass of wine with dinner every night. All in all, this medication is very mild, especially if you're a person who tolerates medicines pretty well. glad was only BV; thought was something worse. side effects were very tired, depression...had no problem with nausea/vomiting; I took right after eating and did not use any alcohol !!! I was on 500mg for 7 days twice a day...white pill. A little tingly in fingers but mostly just a lazy tired feeling and depression...abstaining from sex is actually the hardest even though smell is gone...hopefully is gone for good !!!
