I started this medicine yesterday. Oddly from the rest of the post I read, my doctor ordered me to take this medication in one dose--4 pills at once. He's very good in his field and has 3 GYN offices he works in every week. He also advised me to abstain from sex for a week and no alcohol and ...that I vaginosis is SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED in the form of traditional, anal and oral sex (if your partner ...

I was on 400mg 3 times a day and experienced most of the side effects. On the last day I had stomach pain and diarrhea so I decided not to continue with it. Not sure if the bad bacteria was gone. I would never take this medicine again.

Had the first flareup in 4 years, on the fourth day I went to an urgent care facility b/c my gastroenterologist was closed until Monday. Got cipro/flagyl and the GI symptoms are almost gone by day 3 but AWFUL peripheral neuropathy in hands/arms. Called urgent care back, different doctor said keep taking it, go to ER might be heart attack. No way, I know neuropathic symptoms from other issues. Called pharmacist, much more helpful, who advised continuing cipro and stopping flagyl until I can get to my gastroenterology doctor in the morning. Tingling/numbness gradually subsiding since the last dose, but scary to read that it is a possible permanent side effect.Read More Read Less

THIS STUFF WORKS WONDERFULLY!!!!! I was scared to take this medication after reading the reviews, but faced the fear because I know this was the only medication that would make me get better. At the time of receiving medication I had, had B.V for about 2 weeks and was TOTALLY FED UP!!!!! I was becoming hopeless and depressed because to me vaginal odor is one of the most saddening things a woman can have. I tried the feminine washes, yogurt, NOTHING helped, and in fact I believe the wash made the smell 10times worse. This was my first time having BV, so I went to my GYN and was prescribed the generic for Flagyl. By the 3rd day my smell was gone and today was my last day taking them. I’ve been able to have sex and the smell is totally gone. The taste is bad if it touches your tongue but I always took it with some kind of juice or milk and never had a problem. I had no vomiting or loose bowel, I was a slight bit more tired but that is all. I am so happy with the results of this medicine, I just hope I never get B.V again!!!!!Read More Read Less

I was placed on Flagyl for C.Diff after a long round of antibiotics for strep. After seven days of Flagyl, I am extremely bloated and gained almost 15 pounds. I'm also not 100% sure that it cleared up the C.Diff at this point. The Flagyl did make me feel horrid for the length of time I was on it; disoriented and exhausted.

i took this med with cipro, what a horrible combo. Nausea, vomiting my insides out-till I felt I was havng a heart attack, residual headaches, horrible taste making it impossible to have any interest in food nor water, I have flare ups about 1-2 a year. Last two bouts 2 months apart with MD trying diff. meds. Only cipro/flagyl combo seems to fix the problem. I have been prescribed anti-nausea meds to go with it all too. UGH!!!!

I was prescribed 500 mg 3x a day of Flagyl for a C Diff infection. On the plus side, the abdominal discomfort and diarrhea went away quickly after starting the pills. However, I have never had such odd sensations before when taking any other antibiotic like I have had with this one. First day on the pills I was fine. I made sure I took pill with lots of food to stave off nausea. Second day on pills I felt much different--very dizzy, off balance, fuzzy brain-almost like I was buzzed up on alcohol. I had to concentrate to walk straight, and when I got on a treadmill to run-I couldn't feel my legs and feet were numb. I had a very difficult time running. Dr. told me to not run until done with pills. I won't be taking that advice!! Hot flashes, low appetite, shakey, confused at times, and irritable. Definitely not a fun drug to be on. I would go off, but need to kill the C Diff bacteria. Thank God it's for only 4 more days and I am off of them.Read More Read Less

First few times I had multiple symptoms. I have learned how to take it now causing few side effects. Use nothing containing Even trace amounts of alcohol. No mouthwash, hairspray, hair conditioner, makeup, body lotion, cologne or aftershave, room deodorizer, for most other cosmetic items. Use rubber gloves when using cleaning items. Take 1 hour before or after your other meds. Stay hydrated with bottled water. Room temperature if Coldwater upsets your stomach. My adverse symptoms have almost disappeared.7Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Flagyl for bacterial vaginosis. It killed the vaginosis. Unfortunately it also killed my appetite. It got so bad that I was counting calories to make sure I was getting the minimum 800 a day the average adult needs for basic subsistence. I was like the walking dead by the end of it. Never again with the oral version of this drug. I would consider the cream though.

I had a severe case of diverticulitis, actually thought my appendix had ruptured. Received both Flagyl and Cirpo IV in the ER and have been on the oral form for 8 days, two more to go. Defiantly take the medication with food! I have found a couple of pieces of toast and top ramen to be the best so far. My doctor also prescribed an anti-emetic which I take 15 minutes before Flagyl and have not had any issues. Still a bit groggy in the morning and have lost 8 pounds due to loss of appetite, but overall feeling much better. This is not the first drug I would have chosen, but it has been working for me.Read More Read Less

Taking this med for BV and I'm on my 3rd day. I typically get no side effects from medications and all was fine until last night. I woke up extremely nauseous and threw up. I always take the medication with a meal and was surprised how nauseous I was. This morning I woke up with nausea again and horrible abdominal cramping. After reading these reviews I see that all of this is normal. I also have loss of appetite and mild constipation. Can't wait to get off of this!

Taking this medicine for BV, definitely has cleared the Vaginosis but have had several side effects. Leaves a horrible metallic taste in my mouth and constantly queasy. Vomited a few times, generally first thing in the morning with the metallic taste. Big loss of appetite as well.

Was prescribed post appendectomy. Since I got no infection I assume it worked. However the stomach cramps and diarrhea are still present and violent 2 weeks after finishing the treatment.

I am not even sure if Flagyl has helped my symptoms, as I am still having loose stools, which itself could be attributed to Flagyl. I finally called my doctor's office today (4th day) to ask if I could please stop taking it. The nausea, sour taste on the back of my tongue, and reflux is all so bad, that I cannot function. This is the first time I have ever not finished antibiotics. It has got to be the nastiest-tasting pill ever to have been around for this long. Time for a candy -coated version!Read More Read Less

Was given this medicine because of persistent diarrhea. Still don't know the cause as all of my labs seem to come back normal. Have taken 6 of 10 days, 4 pills a day. Horrible taste, slightly nauseous, lethargic, and weak. I have noticed that I register a low grade fever within one hour of taking a dose, but it goes away before the next dose is due. Sore throat, stuffy nose dizziness to name a few more. I am just hoping that this stuff manages to kill whatever has been making me sick:( if it does then it will have been worth it.Read More Read Less
