I started this medicine yesterday. Oddly from the rest of the post I read, my doctor ordered me to take this medication in one dose--4 pills at once. He's very good in his field and has 3 GYN offices he works in every week. He also advised me to abstain from sex for a week and no alcohol and ...that I vaginosis is SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED in the form of traditional, anal and oral sex (if your partner ...

I was on 400mg 3 times a day and experienced most of the side effects. On the last day I had stomach pain and diarrhea so I decided not to continue with it. Not sure if the bad bacteria was gone. I would never take this medicine again.

So far So good. I'm on Day-6 the 7-Day treatment and the symptoms went away around Day-2 or 3. My urine got very dark at first but today (Day-6)it is normal color again. I was wondering if I should be worried since I have three more pills to take before I'm done. My stomach was upset after meals, but no vomiting. Drinking a lot of juice helped that problem. And I have been extremely tired during this treatment. The taste is nasty for a moment while the pill is being washed down.

This is the second time I have tried this med. I had nausea and dizziness the first time I tried it and had to stop taking it. My doctor wanted to try it again and the side effects are worse this time than the last time I took it. I am nauseous, it is causing migraines, stiff/sore neck, blurry vision, tingling in my hands. I have taken this med on a full stomach and an empty stomach and still have problems taking it. My doctor thinks the benefit of this med out weighs the side effects. Since I am the one suffering the side effects I disagree. Getting off this stuff and will never try it again.Read More Read Less

Day 4 of the cipro/flagyl combo. I hate it; I can't tell which drug is making me nauseous, so tired I can't function at work, loose bowels, and the worst headaches I have ever had. IN addition a nurse friend told me that the strong antibiotics can lead to C-Diff infection!!!

I took this medication about a year ago for bacterial vaginosis. It worked really well for me but I did have extreme nausea after taking this medication. Recently, I got diagnosed with BV again & was given Flagyl again. I am on day 2 have not experienced any negative side effects. No nausea, headaches, dizziness, etc. I am usually one of these people that has a horrible experience but I guess this medication is different for me. It just reminds us that everyone reacts differently to medicines so don't get too freaked out by the reviews.Read More Read Less

This is only day three but wanted to share something I found that might help taking. Take some creamy peanut butter on pill before putting in mouth. You get rid of that horrible taste. Try it.

Effective quite quickly. Chief complaints: extreme fatigue and lack of energy overall. Nausea with decrease in appetite. Bad taste in mouth. Also had a headache. I Felt much better on the medication in comparison to the original infection. The only other thing I noticed is I felt agitated- things irritated me more easily. I think this was because of the extreme fatigue.

After reading all these great reviews about how well Flagyl has worked for everybody, i was so excited to finally take it and treat my infection. Unfortunately, i took a full week of it (twice a day) and NONE of my symptoms went away. not even a tiny bit. I was discouraged until i was told it normally takes two rounds of flagyl to treat it fully. So i was prescribed another week of Flagyl and had zero good results. My infection is worse than ever and am now looking up natural remedies as everything i have been prescribed did not work. Also, a tip for anyone who is about to start Flagyl, cote it with something! peanut butter, icing, anything that will keep you from tasting it. the taste is just horrible! there are many negative reviews on here as people had to deal with the horrible symtpoms of Flagyl, when that was the least of my worries. suffering through a week of nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite is nothing compared to living with months of chronic bv. I hate to say that i will not be taking this again, and hope to find a natural remedy that will cure me of this unbearable infection. Good luck to everyone taking it, i really hope it works for you!Read More Read Less

This med made me feel wiped out but I didn't get sick from it. Like others have said, it works fast. It's REALLY important to eat with this med or you will feel terrible. If you eat with it or at least drink milk you should be fine the only side effect I had was feeling tired. I stress eat with it and yes it has a bad taste if it's in your mouth too long I noticed if I took it with juice, soda or milk I didn't have much trouble with the taste. It was great that in my case the gross odor from the infection went away after about 3 pills.Read More Read Less

My first bout with Diverticulitis. Prescribed Flagyl/Cipro. The first time I took Flagyl I must admit it was a real eye opener! It tasted like something coming out of my colon not going in. But it has worked great! The pain is gone and I am feeling much better. The pain was so bad I don't care how bad it tastes as long as it stopped the pain. 4 days ago I would've eaten my socks if they told me it would help. For those of you who say this medication is worse than the diverticulitis, I say huh? If I ever have another bout with this I will be beating down the doors to get these antibiotics. At least in my case the relief was worth the bad taste and light headedness and headaches. I hope everybody finds what works for them. Good luck!Read More Read Less

This is by far the worst medicine I have ever taken! Yes it works but the trade off is awful!!! I wrap the pill in wheat bread to keep the bad taste out of my mouth. However the weakness, dizziness, depression and all the other side effects are horrible! Is there ANYTHING else that will work??

I have taken this several times for Diverticulitis. It does have a nasty taste and starts melting immediatly on your tongue but it really works well. I do get dizzy and lightheaded and nauseated and have to talk myself into taking it but the consequences of not taking it are similar if not dangerous.

I am on day 2 and I can not bring myself to take another dose. My diarrhea has stopped already and I am on Levaquin and prednisone too. My intestinal pain is gone, so I will probably continue the other two drugs, but absolutely stop the flagyl. It feels like I am out of my mind and my mouth tastes like the horrid pills....nothing takes away the taste!! My throat and esophagus also feel as if they have fluid in them with the TASTE. I am coughing and nauseated from the fluid coming up into my mouth!! I am praying the side effects do not last for 3 days like some of the reviews on here. Read More Read Less

At first I thought it was me...If this stuff even so much as touches any part of your mouth, it is enough to gag you. I'm 62 years old and I don't remember childbirth being this bad! Everything the other reviewers are saying, tripled. Nausea, loss of appetite, and feeling as if you're in a fog! Taking this with Cipro for possible diverticulitis/gallbladder problems.

I was given the prescription for watery diarrhea lasting 12 days following travel and will find out shortly what the test reveals as to cause. I was very concerned about side effects after reading the reviews. However, other than continuing to have discomfort in my stomach, and a fine itchy rash, I have not had other reactions. It has cleared up the condition. I am on my 6th day of taking it. The only problem is that it is now in the form of a large capsule, probably because of all the responses to the metallic taste. The capsule floats in the mouth and is extremely difficult to swallow. I have only managed to do so by putting it in a spoonful of yogurt and taking it with milk. I am looking forward to finally being free of taking it and look forward to having wine again.Read More Read Less

Given Flagyl treatment for explosive diarrhea, nausea and some vomiting. Can't remember which bacteria the Dr thought but had used it under same circumstances last yr. Both times knocked it right out. Also, both times were shortly after previous antibiotic treatment for other aliments. Some headache experience and difficulty sleeping with bedtime dose.

I have taken this twice before & am about to start another 7day treatment for my recurring condition. I have never enjoyed the experience in the past & even though I have the prescription already I haven't mustered up the courage to start it yet. The last time I took it I forgot it wasn't supposed to be mixed w/ alcohol & I took literally 2 small sips of a beer. Within 30-45 mins I was vomiting heavily. It was so bad I couldn't even keep water down & it was the single most miserable experience of my entire life. The vomiting / dry heaving was so bad I had to go to the ER in the middle of the night. They had to give me anti-nausea medication & when I told them what happened they said sometimes they even prescribe this to heavy alcoholics to deter drinking. I told my Dr this time around that I have had bad experiences w/ it in the past & he recommended the insertion but then I got to Walgreens & it was $85. $85 for a treatment that's not permanent? No thanks. I'll take the flagyl. I don't recall having the other common symptoms (depression, loss of appetite, etc.) but I am def refraining from ANY alcohol after an expensive ER visit. The taste is terrible & melts the minute it hits your mouth. You can't swallow it fast enough! It works though! Read More Read Less
