I started this medicine yesterday. Oddly from the rest of the post I read, my doctor ordered me to take this medication in one dose--4 pills at once. He's very good in his field and has 3 GYN offices he works in every week. He also advised me to abstain from sex for a week and no alcohol and ...that I vaginosis is SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED in the form of traditional, anal and oral sex (if your partner ...

I was on 400mg 3 times a day and experienced most of the side effects. On the last day I had stomach pain and diarrhea so I decided not to continue with it. Not sure if the bad bacteria was gone. I would never take this medicine again.

11 months after stopping medication, left with nerve damage, muscle atrophy and paralysis. This antibiotic ruined my life. Do not take unless you have a life threatening issue.

I was prescribed to take Flagyl 500mg/tablet 3 times daily. At first, I thought that the nausea was due to my vertigo. But it progressed on the third day. I had the worst headache in my entire life that I had to try every non-pharmaceutical treatment that I know and still they didn't relieved the pain. I also has GERD but not to the point that I had to vomit, the acid was too strong. Urine discoloration was fine but it the gastrointestinal side effects and the headache was too intense. I even avoided every foods that may aggravate my condition, and filed for sickness leave. The whole experience was traumatic. Read More Read Less

I was placed on Amix, Clarithromycin, Omeorazole, and Flagyl for very mildly symptomatic, biopsy proven gastritis due to H. pylori. From the first dose, there was nausea and HA. Day #2 burg were worse and a horrid bitter taste appeared, along w almost anything tasting bitter. Any food or fluid made nausea even worse, to the point on inability to sleep. I tries taking the antibiotics 2 hours apart but once I took the Metronidazole (Flagyl), the symptoms started within 30 minutes. I do not consume alcohol and am in a bland diet. I am day #4 and can’t go on taking this antibiotic. I hope the treatment without it can get rid of H. pylori … awaiting GI doc’s input.Read More Read Less

horrible, horrible drug. I had the worst side effects- headache, hot flashes, chest pain, fatigue, constipation, backaches. while it did suck, it got the BV to go away. it is so important to get rid of it because it can cause major damage if it doesn't go away, so try and bear thru it!

I was apprehensive taking this medicine after reading how harsh it was but I took it with food and I had zero side effects. No nausea m. No digestive issues. Nothing. One pill and itching and irritation gone! I continued to take 1 500 mg pill twice a day for 7 days as prescribed.

I was diagnosed with IBS over 25 years ago and about 15 years ago I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis and I have been on Cipro and Bactrim DS but I had to go to the ER and they immediately put me on Flagyl and from then on I am on the Flagyl every time I have a Diverticulosis flare-up and by God's Grace I have not had any side effects. I have SLE Lupus and I never know when I will have a Diverticulosis flare-up but I know that I had side effects from the Cipro and Bactrim DS.

Was concerned about the side effects but I experienced none at all. I also took this with probiotics as antibiotics can kill all bacteria (good and bad). Was effective.

I was terrified to take this drug after reading the reviews. However, I just finished my last dose yesterday, and found the side effects were not as bad as described. Side effects experienced included: loss of appetite, nausea and metallic taste in mouth. Nausea could be mitigated by taking the pill with a full meal (which was a little hard given the appetite loss, but overall doable). I also experienced some fatigue after taking the pill. However, this and the majority of stomach issues were gone by day 3. Overall, it was no worse than any other strong antibiotic I’ve taken in the past. Read More Read Less

I took 500 mg, 3 times a day for 10 days, a total of 30 pills to treat IBS-D (diarrhea), SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) and possible parasite. Almost every day I had mild nausea, bloating ,dizziness, fatigue, frequent urgent stools, dry mouth and headaches (it could have also been from my anxiety about taking it). I had violent vomiting after the 4th pill, and diarrhea after the 15th pill. My doctor then told me to reduce the dose to twice a day instead of three times a day and I felt a lot better and was able to finish the dose. You must take it after a full meal to avoid nausea. I coated the pill in molasses and drank it with milk to mask the taste. I was so nervous to take it after the horrible reviews I read, but it was manageable, just felt like I had a cold/flu for 2 weeks. However, I would not take it again, it didn’t work for me in the long run. Read More Read Less

Horrible side effects with this medication. Flu like symptoms with what I would describe as a crushing headache. Neck pain, yellowing of the eyes, nausea, diarrhea, cramps. Never again.

Hate this, it was horrible. Vomiting, extreme headache, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, neck pain. I feel this has affected my brain, it jas been two years since it and I still have side effects. This drug is not worth it, it can cause brain lesions, symptoms like MS, some people take years to recover as it depletes you of thaimin which can cause BeriBeri symptoms.

I have two issues, CDiff and Bile Acid Malabsorption so I am on two drugs. Fourth day into a 10 day treatment on Flagyl and I feel like I have a severe case of the flu. Headaches, achy, dizzy, tired, and On day 3, I developed a horrendous cough and congestion out of nowhere. Abdominal pain, sick feeling in my stomach, just yucky!! I hope it doesnâ??t get worse as I finish it up. The other drug has some side effects too, but just constipation and cramping and I am only on day 3 of that so, I definitely believe the Flagyl is the culprit. I hope this drug kills the CDiff and it never comes back!! The way I feel today, Iâ??d rather have chronic diarrhea than feel like this.Read More Read Less

So I had a bacterial infection and was proscribed this. Day 3 I woke up with a leaky faucet nose and went through 2 boxes of tissue the 1st day accompanied by a fever, dizziness, and pounding headache. I thought I had the flu. 4th day I woke up to a rash from my feet to my lower stomach pretty bad and lightly everywhere else on my body. So I stopped taking it on day 4. The next day the fever and diziness went away. And then a couple days later the runny nose went away. Mind you it was all clear snot. Never discolored like when you are sick. And its day 4 after I stopped taking it, and rash is still there. Looks like the pin needle rash described. No hives and the 1st 2 days it didnt feel itchy. But expect an itch coming. I had to take a cold bath to feel better. Good luck. Never again.Read More Read Less
