3rd week of using Subutex to treat pill addiction. Overall, it has been a pretty good experience. I'm using it along with other prescribed meds to help with withdrawl/sleep difficulty.

it helped me get thru withdrawal from opiate addiction without being sick. I was able to get off oxicontin and heroin without experiencing severe withdrawal and physical cravings.

This drug had done wonders for my life. Instead of taking, phentanyl, oxycontin, and various other pain medications I have been prescribed to deal with pain, this lacks many of the side effects. The other medications giving you for long term care a desire to need more to defeat the same pain and a general addiction to a valid prescription. I have taken this drug for 4 years now, and I am not sure if I could hold down a job under the other medications anymore. Generally, I feel I need to be alert at the office to interact with co-workers instead of them seeing my partially closing eyes and slurred speech that I didn't notice for awhile. Some people say they get a "high" from subutex. I guess all people are different. I think this drug relieves the aspiration of more and more to feel normal, in a pyschocological sense. I think that is why this drug mainly gets so high reviews for short term and long term care.Read More Read Less

After being addicted to Lortabs for over 7 years my husband found an empty bottle and put 2 and 2 together and realized that I was taking 12-15 Lortab/Norco 10 mg per day. Not to mention abusing Xanax and Ambien. He drove me straight to my psychiatrist (seeing for depression but never mentioned the opiates) and laid all the bottles out on his desk. That beautiful day, Nov 13, 2009, because my day of rebirth! I feel amazing! I am sleeping again and actually have a new love and respect for saving my life. This is my first week on the Subutex, seeing as I have been on Suboxone since Nov. I feel like I don't need the med anymore...psychiatrist wants me to stay on the Subutex. I could scream THANK YOU from the highest mountain top!Read More Read Less

I am 8 months pregnant and have been taking Subutex for 6 months now. I was heavily addicted to methadone but did not want my unborn child born addicted to it also, so I talked with my OB/GYN to seek further help. He prescribed me Subutex and it has worked absolutely great for me! I have no desire to use methadone or any other opiate for that matter. My baby even stands a great chance NOT being addicted to Subutex because of the low dose that I have chosen to take! I am prescribed one 8mg sublingual tablet twice daily but there are days that I do NOT take the second dose! I am extrememly satisfied with the performance this drug has done for me! If you are pregnant or just want better for your own life instead of continuing down the pathway of demise due to addiction I very much encourage you to talk with your physician about Subutex! Some say that the Suboxone form has helped them better but I beg to differ in my opinion. You may have to try out both forms until you find the one that helps you with your problems but either way its a better way of life than the one you are living now!!! Good luck with your soberiety and may God bless you all the way!!Read More Read Less

I have been taking subutex for a year and a half. It's truly helped me stay clean, but now the generic form of the subutex pill does not seem the same. It's not as affective as the original mediciation.

i do not agree with this medication. I feel it is a cop out. Yes it is better than methadone but I do not believe it helps opiate addicts. I do not take opiates. I am writing this because I am concerned for someone I love. I feel he will need to be on this the rest of his life. He can still get high. We were told this would block the high. that is not true. I hate this medication. It keeps people from going through a treatment program. You can still get high. what is the point of this. they said it would be easy to ween off. that is not true. This drug should be forbidden. If people want to get off opiates they should be sent to an institution not a methadone clinic and not a doctor who perscibes this drug. Read More Read Less

Praise the Lord! Today is my first day on Subutex after a several year and ever increasing dependance on codeine (hydrocodone). I was up to taking between 100-150 10mg pills per week and it was ruining my life. I felt immediate relief after taking the Subutex. The negative is that you have to get yourself into at least moderate withdrawl to start. I never expected to feel like the 'old me' so fast. My equally important therapy / support group work starts tomorrow. Feeling how I feel right now makes me have hope for the first time in a LONG time that I can get my life back. There is hope. While this is only day 1, the effects of this MIRACLE drug has made me a believer. Talk to your doc!Read More Read Less

I have several serious neck and back injuries, also sciatica & two bad knees. i was taking Lortabs and that got away from me; I found myself physically addicted and more impacting- psychologically addicted. It was the wrong way brothers and sisters. I found Subutex about a year ago. It works remakably well for the psychological dependance. It does a pretty good job for the medical/ physical pain. The thing I do not like about it is the STIGMA associated with the drug. I wish people would educate themselves, before giving an opinion or an attitude. The only other thing I do not like about this drug is doctors do not know enough about it??? European physicians are way ahead of our U.S. Docs.Read More Read Less

I am a wife, mother, and now, FINALLY ME AGAIN!!!!This medicine, has changed my entire existence. I fell into so much pain and depression, and it felt like hell. I found an amazing Doctor, and with the help of my family, started Subutex. I have been on it now, almost 3 years. I, of course someday, would like to live without it, but not until i'm ready. I will know, and my Doctor will know. There's no hurry, no rush. Life now, is about being healthy and happy and being the mother and wife, I wasn't, for so many years. This medicine and therapy, gave me back my life. It's a MIRACLE, it honestly is. I was taking 3-5, 80mg. Oxcontin pills a day, off the street, until I got help. I was a gonner. I ruined my life. I went bankrupt, and "almost" lost everything I know and love. If you're in trouble and want your life back.... Give this program a try, and you'll see..... LIFE IS POSSIBLE AGAIN. Get out of hell, and realize, there's a place for you in HEAVEN.Read More Read Less

subutex has helped me more than suboxone. Suboxone caused severe tension in my neck and suboxone didn't seam to help my withdrawal symptoms as much as subutex but the only thing bad that i've experienced with subutex is extreme drowsiness and mild headache just talk to your dr. frequently let him or her know how your feeling and always be honest with them

Lifesaver. I had no idea it EVER could be this easy to get off opiates. I took morphine ER 60mg per day and 80mg of Lortab a day for over 5 years, one day I decided no more. My Dr, as wonderful as he is, gave me Subutex. 1st dose in office to see what I needed. Yes, you do need to be in withdrawal when you take your first does and that does feel bad but it goes away as soon as your dose is calculated which is immediate. No withdrawals, nothing, you just walk out with your life back. No more lying to Dr's to get opiates, no more going from ER to ER or buying off the streets. that crap is all over when get Subutex. I thought it was to good to be true when I read the literature but it's all true. you can take your opiates the night before night, sleep well, when you get up take nothing, within a few hours you will be in moderate withdrawal then you can start you Subutex. I highly suggest it be done under DR's supervision, don't just get a script and trust yourself to fill it and follow the program. Everyone I know that has done that has FAILED. I have been clean for over 2 years and have no desire or need for opiates at all. It's the best. Do it, save your life and live again. Read More Read Less
