I take two capsules at bedtime every day. Is that too much and should I continue my daily dose?

I have taken half doses and irregularly, because taking recommended dose causes constipation and only sporadically helps with looseness. Usually twice or three times a week. Then for one week I took half doses every day for 6 days. I did this because it felt very successful for me! On the 6th day, I developed vague abdominal pain around late morning. Near evening, I loosened my clothing, but the tightness everywhere was increasing. By 11pm, it seemed clear I was having a heart attack, as the pressures on the chest on all sides were unbearable and took myself to hospital. Doctors too were very concerned and kept me for 40 hours. My heart was fine; the only thing odd or different was the psyllium use which apparently - despite drinking lots of water - led to extreme gas build-up. So now I don't know what to do. Am afraid to return to the psyllium.Read More Read Less

Provides some structure to stools making it easier to easier to evacuate and reducing daily trips to bathroom. If I neglect to take a single day, symptoms revert to untreated condition.

This medication worked as intended, although on third day I experienced symptoms of an ulcer. Not sure if it is related, have to go in for check up now.
