I'm a veteran diagnosed with PTSD, depression, and anxiety. During a s severe period of hypervigilance and insomnia I was hospitalized at the VA and prescribed this medication to help me sleep. It worked and I slept for nearly 30 hours. I take 50mg as needed for sleep and anxiety/panic attacks. It also helps with my congestive heart failure allowing me to use less lorazepam. The only drawback for...

This medication does not work for bipolar disorder or depression and should be look at by the FDA because to many doctors are giving this medication to treat these conditons. Hydroxyzine is a antihistamine and should be given for that condition only. Many of us are told by our doctors that this medication will help us with our depression and bipolar disorder to which this is untrue.Congress needs...

I was originally prescribed this medication to relieve anxiety and took it on an as needed basis. As a side affect, I found it very useful to take before going into a meeting where I will probably become agitated and frustrated. Irritating and irrational people are not so irritating When I take this medication.

I suffer from PDST that has debilitated me from a normal life. My psychiatrist changed my anxiety meds prescribing me 50mg 3x daily hydroxyzine Pamoate for my anxiety / panic attacks because she doesn't want me to take Xanax, that has been working for the past 4 years, because it is addictive. I only took .5mg as needed 2 to 4 times daily. I have been taking hydroxyzine pamoate now for 3 weeks, giving it a change to work like the doc said but since I have been taking this drug my anxiety / panic attacks have worsen and increased to the point where they were at 4 years ago and in the mornings I feel heavily sedated like I'm drunk (feeling light headed/dizzy feeling). Also I run 5 days a week as part of my therapy, which has been a challenge to do since I have started this med, and my calves feel like their going to explode a quarter of the way through my run. Not to mention anxiety attacks happening during my runs. I do take other meds but this one is taking me backwards. I am curios if any of my Veteran brothers and sisters have experienced this same reaction to this med. Read More Read Less

Hdroxyzine did NOT cut it for me. Pros: it help me calm down and go back in my room (where I woke up dehydrated and could really breathe). The room gave me flashbacks and made me panic. Like I said it help me good into the room calm and lie down. But that only seem like demons holding my hand and saying "come on just lay down and let us take you for the RIDE... Cons: Once you're sleep get ready for some VIVID and Out of Control nightmares feel soo Realistic. Even when I snapped out of dreams I would stand and look around and see Hallousnation. Looked in mirror take a look at myself confused about life. It was worse than anything ive ever experienced. I haven't taken in 3 day and seem to be recovering. But the terrible mental images and thoughts have left me damaged mentally, I hope I can shake off and not live like a mental person.I believe I would of been BETTER off never taking. Doctors need to stop playing with peoples lives and well being and give us what we need. He said Hydrocodone would have helped but people abuse it. Just give me WTH I need, and quit the BS. This has damaged me. Do Not take! Side effects: More nevousness Drymouth No drive the next day to work HallousnateRead More Read Less

I believe it has been causing congestion. I use this for poison oak, the itching is minor but with hydrocortizone cream the spreading has stopped which was mostly caused by the itching. I have an anxiety problem as well during storms and the doctor took my xanax away when I got pregnant, but ive noticed this medication takes the edge off as well during minor storms and high winds.

I suffer from PTSD, Fibro, Social Anxiety, and depression. I was on Xanax, my psychologist wanted me off of those because they were addictive, no i wasn't addicted, but because of all the things i have to deal with i very easily could become addicted. This has been a god send, i relax, yes it makes you tired, but i usually take it early in the evening(When needed) and i did take it when my daughter got married, it helped and i was so busy i barely noticed the drowsiness. i say give it a try, not everything works the same for all people, but, if you are taking Benzos and go to this, it won't work because you don't want it to because you want and need the benzo, sad but true. I will keep using it when needed.Read More Read Less

Patient complaints and remarks. Since I started, three days ago, I've had uncontrollable diarehha. It calms my anxiety, I feel more rested. If only the diarehha would stop.

When I get close to running out of my Hydrocodone (10/325)and Tramadal 300mg I go into a massive withdrawal/panic attack, especially when I try to sleep. I was on day 3 of not having my normal dosages of pain meds with another 4 to go. My anxiety got the best of me and I passed out behind the wheel of my truck while driving and woke up after I hit one car and avoiding another. That was the last straw for me. I went to the ER and was prescribed a quantity of (30) Hydroxyzine Pamoate 50mg. The advice was to take one every 4 to 6 hours. The Hydroxyzine and a lower script for Tramadol 50 mgs took my anxieties away. I was able to sleep at night and function during the day. I was a little groggy the next day but the pros outweighed the cons. I'm getting professional help for the pain meds dependency and may take the HP if the Dr. prescribes them. Read More Read Less

Yes, this medication has been a God send. It has worked the best of all the medications I have tried. I don't understand all the negative feed back on this med. Initially, the side effects will be great, but if you give it time, it really works. I guess everyone is different and has different side effects. I thank my doctor for the help.

Ive had a history of severe anxieties. In the past, other physicians have prescribed xanax, which i used only as needed (taking only halves)and it helped me function through my day, not making me drowzy or incoherient. The doctor i seen yesterday gave me this, because he says he doesnt give xanax because its addictive (but ive never had an addiction to anything). So with in open mind, i took this because i was told it was mild, non-habit forming, and can be taken as needed. I was upset that it came in a capsule because i wanted to be able to adjust taking half if thats all i needed. Anyways, I just took my first dose an hour ago. Im feel drunk (and im at work), Ive deleted and re-typed several times while tpying this becasue im out of it, i want to just knock out and sleep, my head is starting to hurt, and my chest feels tight from the anxiety. Yeah, it helped the racing thoughts, but only because my head hurts too much to think. I dont know how I will be going about my daily routine and be able to work. Im just hoping it wears off by the time i have to drive home from work. I will be calling the doctors office to see if there is something else. For me, xanax worked better as needed. A 30 day supply, easily lasted me about 6 - 9 months, becaue i adjusted my intake and only took when i felt i couldnt control my anxiety in other ways. This Hydroxyzine Pamoate is horrible and does not help when you want to just be a functioning person.Read More Read Less

I just got this medication for the first time today. I have anxiety and I am bipolar. My anxiety has been affecting me on my job. I am making mistakes, and I feel scatter brained. I got home and took my 50mg dose. I am very calm and I can think clearly. I don't have racing thoughts and I don't feel any anxiety with a million thoughts / ideas. After ready many of the reviews here, I have noticed that the people who give this medication a good review are the one who have not been on valiums/Xanax pills. So we luckily are not missing the high that some miss. I am sure that others used their valiums for the genuine reasons. I look forward to using this tomorrow at work. Read More Read Less

Helps me to get to sleep at night because I easily switch my days and nights. Over time it progressively becomes worse and I finally get to sleep later and later. Has worked wonders for me. Most of the people here seem to be benzo addicts that are mad their dr. cut them off. If you take your medications properly instead of abusing them, you wouldn't be in this position.

I've been refusing treatment for a GAD disorder for the longest time because of the fact that I'd been addicted to benzos after having them prescribed to me. I decided at my last Dr's appointment that I would try this and am so far been very please with the results. It does make me a little bit groggy but it calms me more than it does anything else. I'm not as anxious as I normally am when riding around in a car or nor do I have my nightly panic attacks like I do most nights since starting this medication. I was very doubtful after reading reviews when I was first prescribed this medication and it occurred to me that people are complaining about it mostly because their doctors have taken away their benzos and replaced it. So for those doing research before taking this med as recommended by a doctor, give it a chance. Don't decide it isn't going to work before you try it. Read More Read Less
