Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

PLEASE, someone tell me if you are going through this too....I had thyroid cancer, had it removed and a para thyroid. I have been on this med since May of 09. I can count on one hand how many days that I have felt good. Lately, the sweating is HORRIBLE. All I have to d is move and I am drenched!! I've had the hair fall out, lightheadness, dizzy and all. It seems to be going on a cycle, except the sweating. I am 39....someone told me "the change" but to sweat like this is NOT the change...it's not hot flashes, it down right soaking sweats. PLEASE help, has anyone else gone through this. Also, is an endo doctor better for treatment of this thyroid issue or can a regular doc handle it. PLEASE HELP and thanks for the help in advance.....Read More Read Less

I have used this med for over 20 yrs and I in the beginnig thought I could manage my health without it I was mistaken, as a result of not taking this med I threw my body all out of wack and it took longer for me to recover. I had to have the dosage adjusted a few times and now I have the right combination I have to alternate with 2 different dosages a lower dose 5 days a wk and a slightly higher dose 2 days a wk. In the earlier stages of my therapy my Dr. persrcibed the generic form of the drug and it was not affective,I needed the Synthroid brand my energy improved and I began to lose weight. Been on it for almost 8 years and I have had no problems at all. My health is great, I feel good all the time. The blood work every 6 months can be a pain but its worth it.

I had been on Synthroid .25 for 2 months for nodules on my Thyroid. I didn't experience any side effects except I had swollen gums for 3 or 4 days. I went back and they did blood work to make sure my hormone levels were getting better. They were not, so they put me on .75 and I have been on it for about a week. My experience with that is again, my gums are really swollen and my lips feel like they are going to break out in the biggest cold sore ever. Not intolerable at all, just strange. I think I am losing some hair but I lose so much any way everyday that I am not sure at this time. I have nausea really bad, two days now, awful gas. Other than that, not much side effects. I won't know whether it is really working until I take my next blood tests in 1 1/2 months and/or ultra sound in 4 months to see if my nodules have shrunk. Read More Read Less

I have just started on this on 11-12-09 so I am sure I have not given it enough time to see any difference. My doctor started me out on the generic and .025 mg. I know I am still feeling tired, I sleep the same with no problems sleeping. Just still feel tired during the day and still want to take naps. I have read where it says give it about 2 weeks so I will. Have no side effects as of today. I go back to my doctor on the 30th of this month so I am hoping to be able to tell a good differnce by then. This is a new doctor for me, I switched because my old doctor wasn't testing me for my thyroid even though he told me he did and it was fine. My doctor now has also put me on Zocor for my chlastroel(generic) and increased my doasge of my metformin(for my sugar)from 500 to 2000 mg a day which my old doctor had me on the 500mg a day. So hopefully I am on the right track to feeling better with this new doctor!Read More Read Less

I took this drug for 6 weeks. The first 4 weeks no side effects. The next 2 weeks I couldn't breath. It was awful. I stopped on a Tuesday and was fine from then on. Won't take this again and don't understand why anyone takes it from all the other reviews.

I started using synthroid three months ago. After the first two months I stated losing five lbs of the 20 lbs of weight that I had gained when I started having problems with my thyroid. A month later I gained the five pounds, and I did not change ANYTHING to my diet. My hair started falling out in clumps. So far I hate this drug, it seems to worsen my hypothyroid symptoms.

The synthroid only comes in 3 different mgs. the 25mg is not enought the 50 mg is not enought. The 75mg is too much and I start to have a prickly itching sensation from head to toe that will not stop until i get completely off the medication. This Medication simply does not work me.

I have had a complete hysterectomy and was informally diagnosed with systemic lupus having given birth to a child with thromcytopenia due to an antibody antplatelet disorder. i developed Grave's disease after years of not taking hormones. My synthriod level is decrease to 100 after my thyriodectomy. Im short and all my family is tall Im bouncing off the walls with this medication and have severe depression and now I've been told I can not take female hormones because they interact with sythriod. So, given I spent all this time on my surgeries and health...im going to die at a early age anyway? My kidney's are shutting down...my heart pounds then crash...i fall asleep like narcalepsy. what is the deal. i can't live like this I'm a single mom with sole custody of two children and every day they ask if im going to die. The nodukes were toxic does that mean cancer? please advise.Read More Read Less
