Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

High dosage causes me to sweat excessively at times, otherwise this drug works fine for me.

Have been taking for nodules on my thyroid. Not sure if working but am tired and dizzy all the time after taking. Also have high blood pressure and it says not to take if high blood pressure. Am going to stop again to see if some symptoms go away. Tired of taking meds that make me feel worse.

I STARTED TAKING THIS MED MAY 09, AND SINCE I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERE MIGRAINES, SEVERE HEARTBURN, WEIGHT GAIN OF 45 POUNDS (WHEN I WAS TRYING TO LOSE 30), AND MUSCLE ACHES IN MY ARMS, LEGS AND NECK. THIS MEDICINE IS THE WORSE AND I WILL BE CALLING MY DOCTOR ON MONDAY TO REMOVE IT FROM MY DIET. MY LEVELS HAVE BEEN RESTORED AND THEY WERE NOT THAT BAD PRIOR TO THE MEDS, BUT NOW THE MEDS HAVE CAUSE MANY OTHER PROBLEMS.

iv been using synthroid for about 2 months now and so far nothing. i have had no effect what so ever. my thyroid had failed a few years ago so my brain has been compensating for the chemicals that my thyroid has not been producing. i weigh 120 and im 5 foot 4. i just now found out that this medication is really nothing more than salt and suger and i feel that this treatment is not right for me. if any one els has this problem i feel that you should find an other more effective treatment.

This medicine gives me chest pain almost as soon as I take it. The pain goes away about 10 to 15 minutes after I eat, yet the instructions on the bottle say not to eat for 30 minutes after taking it. So I have to live with chest pain for 40 to 45 minutes. There has got to be a better drug for me.

I was told that my thyroid was not functioning properly and that with this drug I would stop being tired, cold and losing my hair -which I had none of these symptoms.

I was on Armour for 56+ of my 58 years; had to switch to Synthroid a few months ago due to FDA recall. I recommend that anyone with rapid heartbeat or high blood pressure incidents switch all coffee/espresso to decaf, and avoid Red Bull, diet aids, cold meds, etc.with ephedrine or caffeine. I had a scare, dropped all caffeine, and am fine now on Synthroid. Have more energy, & much better cognitive function! Also, have found that real orange juice is a BIG help. Was drinking it to fight off flu---seems to help my fluid and blood sugar levels, too (which are now more "touchy", due to either Synthroid and/or being 3 years past menopause, and/or short/small-sized.) Hope that other respondents are not referring to the various levothyroxine products as "Synthroid" as this could cause confusion, especially regarding various symptoms!! Otherwise, the site is very helpful.... Read More Read Less

after 3 months ...constant headaches and anxiety on only 50mcg. My TSH test levels are as they should be. But they were barely in the "bad" range before. But the daily headaches makes this a poor choice of meds. I'd rather be a bit tired...which was not a functional issue for me. I am slowly going to stop this med. and see if the headaches stop. I was functional before this. Why be uncomfortable now?

When I was first told "I had hypothyroid" the Dr. gave me Synthroid. It did not help one bit. I had hair loss still and my muscles ached when I walked. My daughter is a Nurse, and told me "to get back into the Doctor and try to get another form of thyroid medicene." I then found a Dr. who would give me "Armor Thyroid" and that worked okay until they begin having it on back log and my pharmachist could not get it,so then I went to Nature-Thyroid and I dropped about 3 pounds the month I had that and felt better than I ever have on a thyroid medicene, but then Nature Thyroid was on back log, and now I am on Thyroid, but it does not seem as good as Nature Thyroid. That has been THE BEST for me and hopefully it will come back again, off of back log and I can feel better once again. I excersise each day 30 min. watch what I eat but anyone that suffers with hypothyroid knows what I am talking about and Nature-Thyroid is what I have found works THE BEST. I will "never" take Synthroid again!!Read More Read Less
