Hello, I have been using Synthroid for over ten years and find it the best to use. I have never had my dose increased as I follow the SPECIFIC directions for use. Take it at the same time every day (for me, 5 A.M.!)and on an empty stomach--for one hour. I have found, my morning coffee is fine with no cream, or half and half ; a food. I tried the generic form and it did not have the same affect...

I was put on Synthroid a few years ago after complaining of feeling cold and blood results indicating that I am hypothroid. I never had any other symptoms of hypothyroidism. After taking it for a few years, I am still cold, and noticed that Synthroid makes me feel nervous and I have difficulty sleeping. My hair is thinning as well and supposedly Synthroid is supposed to prevent that. I'm going to look for other options since I'm not satisfieid with the results from Synthroid.

I was born without a thyroid and have been taking this medication since I was 2 weeks old. I am now 20 years old and I am just starting to learn about some rather serious side affects. Please, if you are a female between the ages of 12-35, ask your doctor about pregnancy issues and secondary intracranial hypertension. SIH is one side affect from this drug that is serious and may cause blindness.

I am 62, have been on Synthroid since 12-09 have found that I don't sleep well at night, gained weight, cold all the time, very tired, muscle aches, tired in the afternoons, fall asleep on the couch trying to watch my tv shows, no energy, depressed, headaches, heart rate increased, no interest in doing anything. I can not see where this medicine has helped other than bring down my thyroid level from 9.1 to 6.0 now. I hate this medicine and I am going to quit taking it... going to try something that is natural. Any help out there...?Read More Read Less

pretty much the only thing that i noticed while on this pill is my moodiness. My weight has remained the same, but my endo doc just upped my dose to 200mcg, so I'm still waiting on some changes =)

I have Graves disease and it was treated with radioactive iodine. Synthroid treatment started 11 years ago and has been very successful. Generics did not regulate as well as synthroid.

Since starting this drug five months ago for thyroid nodules, my hair has been falling out continuously, my scalp and skin feel like they are crawling, and I waver between being anxious and depressed. I called my doctor and was told to "go buy some vitamins" so am finding another doctor. I am an easy-going person and cannot deal with these extreme mood swings.

Ok so I have gained 50lbs in 8 months on the generic brand of Synthroid and I talked to my doctor about this and he said that there was no way that it was the medication. Now that I am reading these reviews and seeing that other people and not just myself have also had this issue I feel better. I like that my hair is growing back with this product but I don't like the weight gain and the afternoon tiredness.

have been taking for approx.2yrs and have had so many ups and downs.i can tell when my levels are off i get very tired, just want to sleep all day, have no muscle tone and pain in the upper thighs and severe pain in the shin bone that feel like they r breaking into not to mention the racing heart that feels like you r having a heart attack.also did i mention the hair lose... have to continue due to i have no thyroid was removed. but when the levels r right it is a great drug. i actually felt so good back in august that i was able to walk the track at the park and go to the casino again. so please the most important thing to remember is that to take med at the same time everyday and at least 1 hr b4 eating. i set my alarm for 5 am. is this a pain in the butt u bet it is but it is ur life and u only get one chance so do what you need to do to feel the best you can.Read More Read Less
