Only made it through day 4 of medication out of 10 days. Suffered from multiple migraines which would have been important to know from my GYN since it's in my chart that I suffer from chronic headaches & migraines!! Worst migraines I have ever suffered! Also experienced alot of bloating & cramping but never started my period.

This medication caused me to get severe headaches, dizziness and I have trouble sleeping. I was fine until I started to take the medication. My life has become a nightmare now. I went to the ER twice for chest pain, headaches, nausea, dizziness. Then, i went to the ER for a third time to do a CT scan and then my arm got bruised for the needles that were stuck to me. I had a severe migraine at the hospital which they treated me but I still have it hasn't gone away. My life has become a nightmare thanks to those provera pills i took. I'm 18 years old btw. took this drug to stop my period that was lasting almost a month. I did abruptly stopped it and I finished the 7th day pills. Two days after I started bleeding a lot. soaked 2 pads within an hour. cramps are present with big clots. I called my ob and she put me on 600 milligram ibuprofen every 6 hours but it didn't help. I am still having a heavy bleeding and it's day 2 now for me. I wonder if someone has the same experienced as mine. I am 49 years old and might be in pre menopause age.

Provera did help me start my period after 4 months no cycle. My period started on a second day after taking the last pill. I am on a day five of my period now. And it is scary heavy. I am passing large blood clots. I am changing super pads every hour. Cramping just doesn't stop. Who survived through this? How did you manage to do it? Share your experience, please. Help me get through these awful times...

Took for abscense of cycle due to oral hormones. Made me sleepy, fatigued, dizzy. It increased oiliness of skin & acne, on face & scalp. No increase in weight, water retention or appetite at all, in fact, appetite was less while on it. Started cycle 1.5 days after ceasing the medicine. Took a 10 day course.

After bleeding for 5 months straight, my GYN suggested, and put in the Mirena IUD. I bled for 3 months straight after recieving the IUD (so a total of 8 months). Finally fed up, I went to my GP who prescribed Provera for 10 days. I stopped bleeding within hours after taking it, finished the 10 days, and I am now 7 days off, and I am still not bleeding. I had little to no side effects, except a minor headache here and there. My skin was like a porcelain doll, absolutely wonderful. I kind of wish I could take this stuff every day! I will ask to use it again, should my cycles stay abnormal, or constant.Read More Read Less

I am 49, have fibroids and enlarged uterus and ovary, am waiting for a hysterectomy as constant heavy bleeding lead to dangerously low iron and impaired liver function and just living a normal life in fear of a sudden haemorrage was trying to say the least. last month my gynae put me on provera, I had no side effects and less bleeding than for the last 12 months. that was just for a month when I was switched to marvelon. having switched to marvelon I am just out of hospital where I was admitted to stem a scarily heavy bleed, the worst I have ever had. Going to ask my gynae if I can go back onto provera until I have my op. I know from the reviews it does not work for everyone, but it worked for me. These fibroids have a mind of their own! If you have heavy bleeding don't ignore it, keep seeing your GP to get answers and keep taking the iron! For a long time I just put my excessive bleeding down to my age and thought nothing could be done. It is dangerous to ignore it, I ended up with not enough blood in my body for normal function of major organs. Read More Read Less

I use this medication to get a period. I have PCOS. I use it simply to shed my uterine lining to prevent cancer. I have been educated by my fertility specialist that this medication does not help me to ovulate but simply bleed from the withdrawal of the drug.

I was told to take this because I have not had a period for 5 yrs. I have always been irregular and honestly I did not miss my period. But being a woman and knowing it is a healthy thing to have I took it for 8 days ( i forgot the last 2 days) then 3 days later WHOOSH!!! I have never been so heavy in my life. I went for 9 days and out of those 9 days I was heavy for 7 of them. Never again I'm 34 I do not have any desire for kids so I'm done taking this.

I was trying to get pregnant but after my baby I only had 3 periods than didn't have one for 4 months and my baby was born in sep. 2013 and I didnt breast feed at all so I should have had a period.(I also have a Prolactinoma. which causes my body to produce an excess amount of prolactin. So I take caborgoline to bring my prolactin levels down to normal) So my doctor prescribed me Provera to induce my period to help me get pregnant. This is my second time taking the drug. I hope it works this time for me. The first time I took the drug, I took it with Clomid and I didnt get pregnant. This second time im taking the drug. I have gained 15pounds and having mood swings like crazy.(its like im bipolar, Which totally sucks but my family is very understanding. Coworkers on the otherhand, not so much!!) I get dizzy n feel like im going to faint so I take it be for I go to bed. Good luck ladies I hope if your trying to get pregnant it works for u!! Read More Read Less

This drug is horrible. I gained 25 pounds of water weight which I cannot get back off despite daily exercise and a strict diet. I was also extremely depressed. I would rather not even have a period than the side effects...

I taking this medicine to start a period to get pregnant. I take 10 days starting on day 28 of my cycle. One month I started after 6 pills, but that has not happened again. Usually, I start about 10 days after I stop taking the pills. My period symptoms are time 10. I am soo moody, I do not know if me and my husband will last. Has anyone actually gotten pregnant this way? The only reviews that I have read are just of the symptoms. I cannot keep going through this if it is all for nothing. Read More Read Less

For the first two weeks of using Provera, I continued bleeding then for the first wee, then I would stop bleeding at some point every day and pick back up with large clots again. I called the doctor and she said give it ten more days since it had only been 2 wks. Sure enough, I dropped down to spotting only, then none at all within the next 10-14 days. It may have taken 3-4 weeks to take hold but I am finally blood-free for 2-3 weeks now and so grateful. As for side effects, I did have a lot of irratibility but I blame that on how imbalanced my hormones were, not on the medication. I also had nausea a handful of times but that was because I was not taking it with food. Once the DR directed that I do, I've been fine since. For anyone reviewing it: GIVE IT TIME BEFORE YOU GIVE UP ON IT. Before, I had a miscarriage in 2006 and since then, my cycles had been either absent for months or steady for months. There was one period of time in 2012 that I bled for 9 months straight and finally lost a fist-sized clot that had me weak for several days. I went to a low income OBGYN (I didn't have insurance, still don't) and they put me on iron, prenatal vitamins and high hormone birth control, which stopped the bleeding immediately, but with no diagnosis. I stopped taking the BC this past April, had 3 normal cycles, then the heavy period with clots half the size of my palm came back and I decided to suck it up and see a regular OBGYN (not low income) that will investigate the cause rather than just treating the symptoms. We tried a lower dose BC that ended up having a reverse effect so we switched to Provera, and that's what I'm sticking with until told otherwise.Read More Read Less
