I had been depressed on and off since my childhood. This medication has worked very well to minimize my depression. I began taking 20 mg. 19 years ago. For the first 2 weeks I was tired and a little bit dizzy but I started to feel less depressed. After about 2 months on this medication I was feeling much better and my doctor recommended that I remain on the medication. Over the years it has ta...

I have suffered from anxiety attacks for 24 years and have taken Paxil for the last 9 years and am quite pleased with the results. I went from Daily anxiety attacks to maybe once or twice a year on Paxil.

It worked for a couple months, then I could not sleep on it after that--and I mean no sleep at all-crazy delusional lack of sleep.

I started taking this drug due to anxiety attacks. I was on it about 6 years. Towards the end, I wasn't getting any relief. It was kind of like my body was so used to Paxil, it wasn't going to work unless I increased my dosage. I felt it was time to give the drug up because of its ineffectiveness, weight gain, and I simply didn't want to be on an anti-depressant. The withdrawl side effects are HORRIBLE, and last for DAYS!!!!! I cannot believe this is a legal drug. I also cannot believe the ease of getting a RX for it. My doctor literally asked "what do you want to take/" Thirty seconds later I had a script for poison. When I started taking Paxil, I was too young and nieve to research it. I do remember the first 2 weeks of taking it, my anxiety was MUCH worse, I couldn't sleep, and I would sweat profusely. That was only 10mg!! I would seriously think twice about ANY anti-depressant. They all have terrible side/withdrawl side effects. If you ever decide to quit the drug, it will take you months to ween off properly. I quit cold turkey- NOT ADVISED!! It was literally the hardest experience I have been through. I will never take a brain altering drug again!! Look up anti-depressant withdrawl on the internet, you will see the horror stories the Drs. don't tell you about.Read More Read Less

I had been on other anit-depressants that did help me, but nothing came close to giving my life back to me until Paxil. Finally my panic attacks stopped totally and I am able to live a "normal life".

This medication has brought me back to the happy person I was before I fell into depression and panic attacks. In just a few months, I felt myself again. Even other people have noticed the positive difference in my overall mood.

Two days after I started taking this medication, I started to have night terrors. I was half asleep and half awake all night and could not control my thought patterns. It made me more nervous, and made my panic attacks worsen. I stopped taking it six days after I started, sleeping much better now. I am trying to cure my panic attacks with diet, exercise and positive thinking-

Following a relative's traumatic car accident, I suffered anxiety attacks and increased anxiety overall. Paxil has calmed my "jumpiness" in cars and has completely made my life bearable again. I don't feel too "down", yet I don't get overly excited and worked up over the smallest stressors anymore. Love this medicine; it has changed my life for the better.

I really liked Paxil. It worked almost too well for me, especially initially. Nothing bothered me, including the huge weight gain. The withdrawal, for me, wasn't as bad as i was told it was going to be. Also, once i was off, i lost the 30lbs i gained on this drug. Overrall, worked very well but its almost a give in you will gain weight.

Paxil didn't do a thing for me. The drug helps others, so perhaps it didn't mix well with my body chemistry. After a year of trying different dosages, my doctor finally switched me to Zoloft -- and that drug gave me back my life.

The Paxil works great while you are taking it. However it is VERY DIFFICULT to get off the drug. I urge anyone considering going on the drug to do some research on the web and discover the awful things that happen to people that are experiencing withdrawal from Paxil.

This medication helped me with a lot of my symptoms, but not all. I did not have any side effects that I had with others.

After feeling so good for so long....I tried to come off of the Paxil but I can't...I get terrible withdrawal side-effects, even after using careful dosage reduction over long periods of time BUT it has been really good for me, treating my depression, anxiety and panic disorders. I have just given into the idea that I must take it for the rest of my life.
