BP was 186/92 then Dr. prescribed 20mg Lisinopril & I quickly developed blurred vision, headaches, tiredness and a nagging dry cough. Dr. quickly lowered dosage to 10mg & had me take pill at night & symptoms decreased significantly. 14 months later after losing 32lbs, my dosage was again lowered to 5mg and “ALL” the above symptoms are gone. BP now 108/70. If you experience bad side effects lik...

I was taking this medication for years all of the sudden I had an over night reaction towards it and taken to the ER. The doctors asked me what meds was I taking and as soon as I told them they worked really fast on the matter. I was told that I might be induced if they were not able to control the reaction because my lips mouth and toung became swallowing and red. I was not even able to talk my daughter had to speak for me. I was given medication through IV and my stomach. I was transfer to ICU for observation. I had to stay for 2 days. The doctors stated that I am no longer to take it or others familiar to it .Read More Read Less

After taking Lisinopril for many years, my throat and tongue started to swell! Was rushed to Emergency Room where they had to use a Pediatric tube so I could breathe. Had no oxygen for 2 minutes. They had to put me in a coma with Steroids to get the swelling down for 7 days! DO NOT TAKE THS Medication!! I’m lucky I am still alive!!

I took it for a week. 20ml. First day, I felt dizzy, nauseous, and tired. As the days went on, my blood pressure got way worse and my heart was racing then skipping. My veins felt cold....and I was frozen...even in 90 degree temperatures. I developed a lump in my throat and a constant cough. I also had uncontrollable diarrhea, back pain and lack of energy. Hopefully I will go back to normal since I quit taking it a day ago. I still feel sick from the drug.

This medication almost killed me! I developed a horrible cough that was keeping me from sleeping & coughing throughout the day as well. It made me so nauseous that I thought I’d developed acid reflux or an ulcer. It made me feel as if I had a bad case of the flu. It effected me mentally as well - depression & thinking I was dying. When I told my daughter how sick I was she asked if I had taken any new medications. I told her about Lisinopril. She said oh my goodness- they had her on it at one time & she had the same results & ended up in the ER. She had discussed this with my dad when he was alive & he had the same reaction. I did not know this. They just put my brother on it & same ill effects. I’ve been off of it long enough that it has finally gotten out of my system & I feel normal again. I still have a once or twice daily cough so I think it did something to my lungs. My doctor said this has nothing to do with genetics. Well, it affected 3 generations of my family so I think it does. This medication was absolutely horrible for me and my family. Read More Read Less

Doctor increased my dose to 10 mg., daily, but within a few months developed psorasis. The medical literature indicates a correlation. I have discontined use of lysinopril.

I was about 38 and had been taking Lisinopril for close to 5 years. My doctor upped my dosage, just a little and I happen to be at the hospital doing some outpatient test that morning when I started noticing my throat was feeling strange. Kind of like.. I don't know.. something I had never felt before. In reality, it was starting to swell. It was strange because I don't really remember anything else swelling. Maybe my tongue. My throat was the worst! I remember coming home and my husband left work because he was worried about me. I started to cry. But when I did, It completely cut off my breathing nearly!! The crying was making my nose stopped up and I really couldn't breathe through my mouth. There was like, a tiny bit of an opening, I guess. That was allowing some air to come and go but it was like breathing through a very, very small straw! I was like, OH NO!! I can't cry because I can't breathe! That was so unbelievably terrifying!! He took me to a really good hospital; about an hour away and the ER doctor was going to admit me. They gave me three shots of epinephrine or something and after several hours the doctor said, "I think I'm just going to have to admit you. If this last dose does not do any better then you're going to be here until you start doing better." Thankfully, the swelling started to subside and I was able to leave very early the next morning. What got me was that I had been taking this medication for 5 years and thankfully my doctor did tell me to be on the lookout for anything like that. That it could happen with a dose increase. I didn't really think much of it at the time. I know better now! They quickly changed my blood pressure medicine to amlodipine & all's good. So far lol Just be real careful if you take this! It almost got me!Read More Read Less

My 83-year-old mother is on Lisinopril. For 2 years she has had a horrible all over rash. many rounds of steroids and antibiotics because she gets celulitis (sp?) so badly. We have taken her off other meds and no change. I honestly feel it's the Lisinopril. She also has late-stage vascular dementia which she was diagnosed with while on the drug. I am wondering is the drug has caused the deadening of the blood vessels to her brain?! I am going to see about taking her off asap!

I am a busy author, aged 81, and also run an air bnb business out of my home. In November 2023 I was prescribed 10mg of Lisinopril for high bp. At the end of December I slipped and fell from my loft ladder and hurt my back. During January I slept a lot and felt depressed. In February this became acute and food tasted horrible. I could no longer drink wine or coffee and felt suicidal without any reason. In March I had tests done to see whether I had brain damage from my fall. The result was negative. The only other possible cause was Lisinopril. So I stopped that, and within three days all my symptoms disappeared! Food tasted normal, and my mental energy returned. This is a very dangerous drug! Lisinopril has lowered my blood pressure as advertised. Over time, other side effects began to surface to the point where I need to find a different option. - drier eyes (I suspect, but cannot prove that a recent contjunctiva tear from rubbing my eye may have been precipitated by Lisinopril) - occasional difficulty breathing through my nose (which is a big deal as I use a CPAP) - blurriness of vision, I typically have 20/20 vision at 45 and now often I have some blurriness at longer distances. Stopping this medication fixes this within a day or two. - occasional tinnitus / ear twitching - angioedema of the digestive track: this is the big one. I've had many times where I have felt extremely bloated in my guts and I am not pooping, and then all of a sudden the next day I am pooping 10 times in one day. On occasion I have had painful constipation. Taking regular fiber and magnesium has helped but does not stop the problem. Again, this clears up very quickly if I stop taking the medication. This could be extremely serious for some people.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this medication by my general practitioner to lower my blood pressure. Too bad the side effects have stopped me from using it long night to good out of it works. I started it five nights ago and today i am stopping. My leg muscles feel like they are being smashed. I could barely stand this evening. The pain was horrendous and actually had me worried. I had read all the reviews and decided to still give it a try. That was a mistake! Besides awful pain, I have been trouble breathing and my legs swelled up. This is not worth it. Stay away from this medicine. Read More Read Less

I'm a 66 year old guy, sporadic high BP and have been on Metoprolol 20mg x2 for a couple years. My BP has climbed, so my doctor added 10mg of Lisinopril x1. After 16 days now, I've had to deal with running to the restroom every 45 minutes, with diar and cramps. No fever or flu-like symptoms, and no other side-effects. (this is enough) Sent the doctor a message- she advised to stop this med and contact her again in 1-2 days. She said once these side effects clear, she'll try me onto another med. Praise God. Never had one bit of trouble with the Metoprolol. I'm happy for those of you that this med helps. For me, never again. Best of luck to you.. Read More Read Less

After reading 15 to 25 of the Lisinopril reviews and knowing many of the symptoms are just like many I've experienced, over the past three years since I began this medication. I was on a bp medication prior to this one and I stopped it pretty soon after beginning it. I read the reviews about it and it was a blood pressure medication that hadn't been used for many years. I can't remember the name of it, though it had been the reason for a few deaths I'd read about. I was on it like 3 months and started feeling like my body was dying. Sure glad I did read the reviews early on that one. Back to the Lisinopril and the reason I first started taking it. I was falsely accused of a crime and in a corrupt court system. My nerves were shot and I was weighing around 250 pounds. I had battled COVID - 19 and barely survived. I had called a EMS out to our house and the top number was like 209. The EMS workers tried to get me to go to the Hospital and I refused. By the time I was able to go to the doctor I had lost down to 235 pounds. The doctor prescribed me the 20 mg Lisinopril and it was probably a good thing at that time for me. I kept losing weight until I was at 218 pounds and then the weight leveled out at 225 pounds. I tried to get a lot of different doctors offices to put me on a blood pressure medication for around 12 to 15 years, before I was prescribed any blood pressure medication. If I can make it that long at the age I was already at, then I'll be fine without any of the bad meds for me now!Read More Read Less

I am prescribed Lisinopril 20 mg tab and although the drug works very effectively, the problem I have with this medication is it's size, color & shape. Unfortunately it is identical to another medication that I also take daily called Citalopram 20 mg tablet to treat mild depression and I often catch myself taking the same med twice rather than 1 of each. Guess I need to substitute of of these with an alternative drug. Hopefully I can swap the Citalopram with a prescription to microdose magic mushrooms to help treat the depression? I'm calling my primary care physician asap??Read More Read Less

Treated with this because of BP spikes during hotflashes… not even sure I have high blood pressure to begin with. After 21 days of 20 mg plus cutting out sodium, ended up in the ICU for six days due to low sodium levels. Three weeks after getting home, still having terrible issues with this medication. Cutting down to 5mg asap because this is insane.
