When I get the feeling a panick attack is about to happen, I stick one ;ill under my tounge and within minutes I feel completely calm and no longer anxious. I also use the medication if I drank too much wine the night before (too much sugar), I take one pill and the anxiety is gone. Ativan is though very habit forming and addictive. I have been taking it for over a year and feel as thought I ca...
My husband was 38 years old and committed suicide from taking Ativan. It was taken in combination with Welbutrin for depression. Do not take these two together..the ativan made him have body tremors, nervousness, and horrible suicidal thoughts. Do not take Ativan and you become addicted within one month. He was taking it for three months and couldn't handle life anymore.

I began taking this drug to treat anxiety while being treated for cancer, which it worked wonders for. I now only take it once a day to help me get a full nights rest, dream free. It does not knock me out, it just allows me to fall asleep naturally, and feel well rested every morning. If something causes unusual anxiety during the day, I would not hesitate to take 1mg to help ease the situation.

I HAVE BEEN ON THIS MEDICINE FOR 7 YEARS NOW. IT PUTS ME TO SLEEP AT NIGHT, THAT'S THE ONLY TIME I TAKE, BECAUSE I'VE BECOME DEPENDENT ON IT AND I CAN'T GO TO SLEEP WITHOUT IT. MY DOCTOR HAD TRIED OTHER MEDICINE ON ME BUT IT DOESN'T DO WHAT THIS MEDICINE DOES. I HATE THAT I'M ON IT AND WISH I COULD GET OFF AND SLEEP NORMAL LIKE I USE TO DO. I'VE TRIED LEXAPRO BUT IT DIDN'T WORK ALSO EFFEXOR WHICH TAKES ABOUT 2 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR SYSTEM WILL WORK WITH IT.IF ANYONE KNOWS WHAT CAN HELP GET OFF THE ATIVAN I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.Read More Read Less

I ocassionally take this drug for my claustrophobia especially when flying on an airplane. I does not cause drowsiness but it allows me to control my fear of flying. It's been a life saver!!

I take Paxil to treat my chronic panic disorder but lately tragedy in my family has brought back some anxiety that the Paxil doesn't fix. Lorazepam is a godsend in that on days I'm feeling anxious, I take it, and I feel like myself again. Other days, if I feel good, I don't take it. The only downside is that about 5 hours after I take it I get pretty drowsy, but it's worth the relief and the ability to be free from anxiety. My only concern is that I've heard it can be addictive, so I'm always overly fearful of taking it more than a couple of days in a row.Read More Read Less

This was a new drug for me. I had always been on Xanex, and was a little nervous about changing, but I find myself taking less of this drug compared to the xanex. I may have grown immune to it.

As a very uneasy flyer, my dr. prescribed Ativan. I no longer agonize over air travel due to the fact that I know Ativan will take away my anxiety. I only take this about 3 times per year when I travel, one pill to my destination and one to get back home.
