When I get the feeling a panick attack is about to happen, I stick one ;ill under my tounge and within minutes I feel completely calm and no longer anxious. I also use the medication if I drank too much wine the night before (too much sugar), I take one pill and the anxiety is gone. Ativan is though very habit forming and addictive. I have been taking it for over a year and feel as thought I ca...

My husband was 38 years old and committed suicide from taking Ativan. It was taken in combination with Welbutrin for depression. Do not take these two together..the ativan made him have body tremors, nervousness, and horrible suicidal thoughts. Do not take Ativan and you become addicted within one month. He was taking it for three months and couldn't handle life anymore.

I have suffered from severe anxiety for 23 years and this is the only drug I can take. It is the type that helps for the moment and it does not have long term effectiveness. It is addictive I have been on it for so long.

Ativan helped initially with chest pains. When I needed something more, they gave me Buspar, which I've taken before; & has been kinder & gentler; much easier to tolerate. Ativan Withdrawal is extremely difficult: like riding a roller coaster w/ your nerves exposed; & physically painful as well. I never experienced that extreme w/ Buspar.

My dentist gave me ativan to take before I had a wisdom tooth pulled. I took one pill the night before and one pill 1 1/2 hours before my appointment. The pill made me very nauseated and I threw up three times while at the dentist. In all, it took about 12-15 hours before I stopped throwing up completely.

This medication did help, but made me feel out of it. I got very tired and lightheaded. I felt nauseated and it lasted on and of for most of the day. Before taking this, make sure you are not alone until you know how it will affect you. Especially if you have children.

If I take this drug several days in a row, or more than once a day, I find myself forgetful. After the effects wear off, I feel like a fog has lifted. However, it does disminish the anxious feelings that it was prescribed to help.

I can't tell any difference. I do take effexor 75mg (not controlled realease) I wake up with that just can't go outside, heart in my throat feeling. I'm on 0.5 twice a day.Any suggestions would help. Xanax helps the best but makes me feel hungry so I stay away from that.

I have trouble sleeping in strange places and used this medication to help me get to sleep when I was on a cruise for the first time. It was very effective in helping me relax enough to get to sleep and then sleep for a full 8 hours.

This was prescribed (.5 mg) to my 102 year old grandmother living in assisted living. Less than a week taking it, she was morphed into a zombie. She couldn't stay awake and was slurring her words. Not good.
