I am 62 years old, have been taking sinemet 25/100's for 21 years. I started initially on 3/day, currently take 5/day. Drug has been a life saver. I need a walker to get around every morning until the first dose takes effect. Minor side effects. Careful with diet, and exercise regularly. Take no other PD related drugs.

For PD, been on low baby dose (1.5 tab 3/day) for 2 years, only affect has been to make me dizzy and nauseous. The more I try to take, the sicker I get. Tried 2 tabs at one time and I had to lay down from the sickness. Felt OK after the sickness passed (about 1.5 hrs) but the sickness was too much to be able to function in the world. Down to taking only 1 tab twice/day. Not very effective for...

Three tabs per day restores handwriting, better short term memory and better balance. Alertness and comprehension improve. Benefit fades over several hours to days if dosage stops. (Incidentally, your letter pictures below are snafu.)

It is easy to use but does not last in my body. Increasing frequency is difficult to do unless you carry an alarm clock. Robs my energy and keeps me awake unless I eliminate the last daily dose

After taking this medication for two weeks due to Parkinson's-like symptoms, I began feeling VERY nauseated two hours after taking it. I took it in the morning and would have to lie down two hours later to keep from getting sick.

I have Dystonia. Dopa-responsive Dystonia. Sinemet has been a Godsend. I always say I would give up air before I would give this up. Dystonia is similar to Parkinsons, but not as degenerative. Without the Sinemet, I can't really even function. I can't walk without falling; my legs just don't get the message from my brain to move. I was really surprised to see it used for RLS as the side effect for me after years of use has been the dyskinisia (sp), it makes my legs jerky. I take amantadine to counter this. Sinemet has effectively treated multiple Parkinson's Disease symptoms shortly after I first started taking the drug with few side effects. I also have benefited from reduced depression. Sinemet has allowed me to improve daily activities and manage depression.

Patient has Lewy Body Dementia with attendant Parkinson Symptoms. Was hospitalized 8 weeks ago when she bacame very rigid and unable to communicate. Neurologist prescribed Sinamet 25/100 four times per day, which greatly mitigated symptoms within 24 hours. One week into Sinamet use, dosage was doubled. Reaction to new dosage was terrible nausea, palsy, agitation, high pitched voice and very sweaty palms and forehead, within 2 hours of taking meds. Symptoms usually subsided within 1-2 hours of sleep. Neurologist again altered meds after two weeks by cutting back to 25/100 four times per day, with 50/200ER dosage in between, twice per day. This mitigated symptoms some but the main difference has been the frequency of spells has been reduced by about 50%. Patient is also on Azilect .5mg, as well as Namenda, the Exelon patch and provigil for Lewy Body Dementia. Patient is tolerating nausea and other symptoms for the moment.Read More Read Less

I use this drug for leg and foot cramps - very severe at night. It worked right away, but I find myself now plagued with constipation. I'm not sure this is causing it, but it started when I began taking the drug?

My brother takes this for tremors and it has caused him to sleep all the time. He also takes other meds but since starting this he sleeps for 6-7 hours for just a nap. He was started on the lowest dose but will have to talk to his doctor next mont when we see him about this.
