I want to start off by saying this drug is a miracle. I was in a rehab center for two weeks to detox off OxyContin. They gave me this drug expecting me to be off it in two weeks. I relapsed 3 days after i was off this medicine because although the physical withdrawals were not present, the psychological cravings were. Also if you are psychologically dependent on this drug your body will stop produ...

Note that most of the reviews are people still ON this very powerful opiate. Very few get off of it, and those that do usually go through 6-24 months of PAWS. It should be a last resort for the hardest core junkies. It's essentailly methadone. Do your homework before you take this garbage...do yourself a favor and go cold turkey or in patient detox...seriously!!

The medication itself would be great if it didn't cause my hair to continue falling out, not grow back, & have no ending in sight. I have documented the course of my taking suboxone - I have lost over 1/2 my hair. There was a brief 2 week period when I didn't take it - lo & behold, it instantly began growing back. But when I re-started, more & more fell out, none re-grew in its place. I have numerous pictures. Whoever is saying it doesn't cause hair loss or regrowth is a LIAR. Now I have nothing to use & I'm feeling desperate again - either my hair goes or my sobriety goes?? Awesome. Thanks, guys.Read More Read Less

I have been on this medicine long enough my drug screen for the first time in three years came back positive for a drug that a cold medicine shows up in they send it off to a laboratory get it screened because I know I did not fail it! But the doctor that was treating me discontinued me. They never called me back and I have been having withdrawals they said this was a mild antagonist that they would be some side effects to it but to be honest I feel as if I was on a full antagonist. I don't understand maybe it's because of the demands of treatment but the doctor would not discuss me getting off the medicine unless I was with him for six months at least and then we'll talk about when I could be weaned off just wondering if anybody out there knows a little bit more of how hard it is to get off of this medicine versus a full antagonist?Read More Read Less

This medication saved my life. I was heading down a very dark road where my life was ending. I was hooked on pain killers after surgery. I would be gone right now if it weren't for this drug.

My wife and I have been on suboxone for about 2 years. We have linked obesety to the side effects. suboxone drasticly slows down your digestive track. its not limited to just the digestion track. Anyone taking suboxone will notice a numer of things, In males the number of sperm relised is also greatly affected. In Humans suboxone does something to the human body that restricts dialation of vascular digestive function in tube like organs. The vas deferens during ejaculation, prostate control, (premature ejaculation), sphincter dilation, and lower digestive track speeds. People will gain weight at 8+mg per day.Read More Read Less

I've been using suboxone for more than 5 years now, how do I get off this one now? Seems like I traded one addiction for another and I'm concerned that my health won't allow me to get off it. I'm tied down to this just like the vicodin I used to take. HELP!!!

I was an opiate addict for over 7 years and this drug has helped to turn my life around completely. My day used to be filled with ways to make/scam/bum enough money to get "straight." Now I hold down a job, am married, have a beautiful daughter and have the respect of family and friends that I so craved. It is kind of a pain to deal with the strips, especially since I cut mine into quarters to space the dose throughout the day, but otherwise is easy to use. The taste is pretty awful at first, but when you consider the alternatives you will get used to it. I am weaning off of it very slowly to help with the withdrawal symptoms, which mimic opiate withdrawal but nowhere near as strong. If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, and want your life back... start this drug's program and save your life.Read More Read Less

while suboxone has worked miracles on me, it has to be the worst tasting drug I have ever taken. The taste is nauseous and bitter. As long as you have candy or a cold drink afterwards I would highly recommend it to anyone with a narcotic addiction - it gives me energy and a renewed outlook on life, I am glad I gave up drugs and decided to join the human race again!!

This treatment saved my life. I was dependant on opiods for 10+ years and was one of those people who wouldn't function at all without a "fix". Since beginning treatment, I now hold a full time job, regained custody of my son and the respect of my family and friends. I truly believe if I had not started the treatment I would be either homeless, in jail or dead by now. thanks to all those who fought for the approval of this drug being used as a treatment option for addiction. This drug can and will truly make a difference in the lives of addicts.Read More Read Less

After being on methadone for 42 years, yes 42 and trying to give it up many times the only way I was able to do it was with Subs, I went down from 16 mg a day to 2 until I was able to cut it out. It doesn't make it easy just doable.

I have a longer description of the story of my addiction, but top line side effects that doctors will not know: 1. It inhibits your ability to visualize, create story lines or in any general manner, hold a daydream or creative expression/image in your head for more than a second. For all those on it now, do me a favor and trying to imagine your day, from now until you sleep tonight. I can't do it - it's choppy. 2. You will not want other drugs as well! Not just Opiods, or Opiates, but because it fills and satisfy's your dopamine receptors, all cravings go away. In addition, if you do do another drug, you can't feel it because the receptors that drug will normally act on, are filled to the rim with Suboxone juice. 3. You will hit a plateau of general mental ability. Ie todo lists for work, general focus, keeping on task. I thought I was just dumb after all the to drugs I did, but had a chance to go off Subs for 8 months and realized after 4 to 5 months: I was getting smarter... Then, one day, BAM! I was back to my old self... The one that got into UCLA. The one I remember being. 4. It will take longer to feel normal again, even if the drug is out if your system. This, just like other drugs, is your brain aligning its synapses again. Don't feel discouraged, you will be yourself again. Read More Read Less

I was a chronic opioid addict, and was prescribed Suboxone for a 20+ day pill habit. It was a miracle, in the beginning. Not only did it kill my cravings for opioids, I found that it all but completely eradicated my desire to do any drug at all; Ie when I did do cocaine, I couldn't feel the effects, and in turn, would stop under an hour. The Suboxone was filling my dopamine receptors, so other drugs didn't have an effect. That was five years ago. My doctor kept me on the drug and I quickly escalated from 6mgs to 16mgs. I became depressed after three months and decided to go off after 8months. I had I not seen my brain in years, so I didn't expect it to come back. It took 6 months for my brain to rewire itself post-suboxone; when it came back, I felt like a genius. Only problem? Quickly got back on Opiods. Decided after just three months that I needed help, and so went back on Suboxone. HOWEVER, THIS time I could plainly observe and measure my brains dullness: I wasn't as sharp and on focus, it was worse than the Opiods; my lack of being able to focus was obvious. It's been two years, I'm only 2mgs to 4mgs a day. I would've never known unless I was in executive management, so I will share: SOME UNLISTED SIDE EFFECTS: Suboxone Inhibits... 1. The ability to visualize things in your head, easily create stories, images, or even keep a fantasy going for more than a split second. This is an issue if you practice positive visualization, or co-creation stuff; Or, if you're a writer, it's difficult to find inspiration for a situation or character; 2. The ability to stay sharply focused. ToDo lists stay unDone. You will feel dull: maybe a vast improvement from illicit drugs, but there will come a plateau where you will think, "Is this it? So, I'm just dumb now?" You are not. It's the Subs. 3. It takes awhile to get fully out of yor system and even more for your brain to rewire. 6 months for me... And that means September if I stop today. Read More Read Less

It was a little uncomfortable for me coming off of the opiates, even with the suxboxone. Intense sweating and overall, just not right. Today is day 8 of treatment and I feel much better. No cravings for pretty much anything. Suboxone does work!

This medicine has saved my life. The worst side effect is the hot flashes. It causes me to sweat like I am running and I get hot to the point I am sick. It is still better than full blown addiction.
