After years of being treated unsuccessfully for depression, my family doctor diagnosed me with ADD. I have only been on this medication for 1 month, but I want to know - is this what life is like for other people? Can life truly be this effortless? Gone are the constant extraneous thoughts. I can listen to people all the way through a whole sentence, and feel much more connected to the world....

I am a 45 year old female, recently diagnosed with ADHD, which I knew I had my whole life. I have often felt paralyzed and overwhelmed with so many things to do and can't stay on one task. I am opening a photography studio soon and am fearing failure due to my lack of organization. Strattera is the third med I have tried. Although it has calmed we way down, I feel I am too tired and not ambito...

I started strattera about 5 months ago, and I can barely tell a difference in my ability to concentrate or perform in school. It's almost like I haven't taken any medication at all. I tried Concerta as well with the same effects, which were unfortunatley none at all. However, for a patient who is worried about becoming dependent upon a medicine for ADHD, strattera is very non habit forming. The worst side effect is the mood swings that occur when you don't take the medication at the same time every day, they are very severe.Read More Read Less

After taking this drug for about 2 months, i had to go to the hospital because i had excruciating pain in my abdomen. I was also throwing up a lot and had a fever constantly. I was dehydrated, and itchy as well. I was good as new 3 days after i stopped taking strattera.

Strattera was ok, don't get me wrong. When it worked, it worked wonders...but I struggled with mood swings for the first several months, almost everyday and always at 8pm. It was odd, I would just fly into a rage for no reason, and if I did actually have a reason...oh man, watch out. I thought the suicidal thoughts as a side effect were laughable until I started having them. It was totally unemotional, just a matter of fact telling myself I needed to kill myself. Nothing would happen to set off these thoughts and I never had them before or since stopping the medication. On the plus side, when starting the med or when the dose was adjusted I had fantastic results. Focus was not a problem and I did better than ever in my classes(I'm in college). The results wouldn't fade into the late hours of studying and I was thrilled with that. The dosage only lasted for about a week or 2 though. I finally worked my way up to 100mg in the morning and the final 18 at lunch(I'm small, it was a lot, but I had worked up to that dose slowly), when I was getting sick after taking the pills and not having good concentration plus seriously cosidering suicide when I finally realized that I should have stopped it a long time before I did. I say give it a shot, most people don't have serious problems like me...but if your having mood issues stop it IMMEDIATELY! Your life is way more important than being able to focus through the day...there are other medication options.Read More Read Less

Used for ADD, this stuff is a miracle drug for me. I can't be without it. Without it, I'm a mess.
