I can not tolerate statins. The dr just started me on this drug. Been taking it for 2 months now and it's working for me. My LDL went from 163 to 123 so far. I take 2 fish oil for the triglycerides and that brought that down from 300 to 100, so that combination is working for me. I don't have any side effects so far and I'm very very sensitive to drugs. Hardly can take anything because of a sensiti...

Family history of heart disease. Elevated Cholesterol, so using Lipitor and Zetia. My levels now: 280 total down to 150. LDL from 120 to 75. HDL up from 40 to51. Results with just Lipitor not as good and LDL remained high until Zetia. Have been on this for several years with great results and no side effects

I could not tolerate statins, so my doctor prescribed this drug approximately one year ago. No side effects and it has lowered my overall count from 230 to 165. I take vitamins, walk 5 miles per day and do weight training 4 times per week. No muscle pain.

After 4 days got facial swelling, skin redness especially between fingers. I discontinued and of course informed doctor. Two weeks and I am still affected but diminishing. One of the inactive ingredients is Sodium Laurel Sulfate, which is used as a positive control in guinea pig allergenicity testing. It's possible that I am sensitized to that after years of prior employment. Anyway, be careful to monitor.

Started with LDL at 145 and after 3 months on 10mg zetia, LDL at 102! I take it at breakfast with other vitamins but no statins. I have noticed very little, if any, muscle or joint pain.

I have hereditary high cholesterol; Dr had me try various meds but I only used for one week ea/time; had severe leg, foot cramps and chest pains. I've resisted taking medicine for simple things all my life. New doctor insisted I try Zetia. I have taken for two weeks and after reading all these reviews I quit today. I've had terrible indigestion, bloating, sharp pain in area of gallbladder, pain in my neck and upper arms, weakness and a lack of circulation in legs, pain in eyes, blurry vision, insomnia and back pain. All in these two weeks. I'm normally a fairly energetic gr g-maw that loves playing with my 8 gr grandkids; chasing them, riding bikes, playing, taking walks, etc. I don't have the energy for any of this now. I will never take another pill for high cholesterol again. I actually didn't realize all of these problems were connected to Zetia until I read your reviews. Thank you so much for putting them out here. Read More Read Less

I have been taking Zetia for two months along with my newly prescribed Metropolol and long-term prescribed Lipitor and aspirin. I have experienced no adverse side effects from any of these drugs. I believe these drugs and my new Mediterranean diet is the reason I no longer get angina attacks; and feel optimistic about avoiding a heart attack because of taking these medications, and my Mediterranean diet. You must be pro-active and serious about your heart health and preserving your life.

Don't know if it works, only took it about a week. My bottom lip swelled and inside of my mouth felt like it was burnt. Statin drugs did the same thing. It was miserable!

Cannot take statins...cause SEVERE fatigue episodes 3-4 times per day, every day, and muscle/joint pain! Doctor prescribed Zetia and I have been taking for about 3 months. Having 2-3 episodes of severe fatigue per week and have started having joint and muscle pain in hands, feet, legs and hips for the past week...I think I may have to stop taking this, too!

I started taking Zetia 2 1/2 weeks ago. I've been unable to tolerate statins due to leg cramps and increased liver enzymes. About three days ago, I developed midback pain, like a rib aching. It seems to move around my ribcage through the day. I thought maybe I pulled some muscles, but haven't done anything to cause that. Pain and aching is very unusual for me. Could it be the medication?

I had been taking zetia for over a year because I can't take statins. I discontinued it for several months due to the cost and my ldl went up. I am back on it and I am experiencing severe constipation. This was not a problem previously. I have cut the dosage in half and added prunes to my already high fiber diet. After reading the reviews, I'm considering not renewing my prescription.
