I can not tolerate statins. The dr just started me on this drug. Been taking it for 2 months now and it's working for me. My LDL went from 163 to 123 so far. I take 2 fish oil for the triglycerides and that brought that down from 300 to 100, so that combination is working for me. I don't have any side effects so far and I'm very very sensitive to drugs. Hardly can take anything because of a sensiti...

I had been informed of zetia not having any effect on reducing or blocking cholesterol. Please respond back to let me know if this is true. No need to take it if true.

I've had severe side effects with Zetia; headaches, sinus infection, cough, stomach cramps, loose stools, and feel like throwing up most of the time.

See BusinessWeek, 1/28/2008. Yes, Zetia is proven to lower cholesterol. But there is NO EVIDENCE THAT LOWERING CHOLESTEROL DECREASES YOUR CHANCES OF HAVING HEART DISEASE!!!

It was horrible. Within a week or two of being on it I was getting the most incredibly painful cramps in my leg & foot muscles that I would cry. My big toe litterally snapped down and I could not relieve the pain. I stopped taking it. My doctor did not think that the cramps were caused by zetia, but as soon as I stopped taking it the cramps stopped. Now that I've heard that they don't even know if its effective, I'm glad I'm off. Trying everything I can to bring my numbers down naturally with supplements.Read More Read Less

My choleserol numbers improved..but still having muscle pain as with other cholesterol drugs...I am now worried about the latest findings..taking Zetia alone okay? or just if you use it with a statin?

I have been on Zetia since Nov. 2006....sometimes my chlorestrol is higher than when I started and sometimes lower. My triglycerides did not improve at all. After the latest report (1/15/08) on Zetia I have stopped using it altogether.

After my nightmare with Lipitor, I thank God for Zetia! It has lowered my LDL and with no pain or muscle cramps. I have taken it for a year. The bad report that came out the other day doesn't change my mind. Test results for ME are all I need to convince me that it works!

Very high cholesterol of 340 dropped to 240. But side effects include, gas and bloating from time to time. Endoscopy showed irritated stomach lining. Also had to have Gall Bladder removed. It was also inflamed and gall stones had developed. I have been researching and now see these can be side effects from zetia. I can not take statins and I want to come off zetia, but doctor is reluctant. I have been using zetia for 7 years. I am afraid of more damage to my digestive system.

I decreased my overall cholesterol from 249 to 206 in 30 days. I have had no side effects. However, my doctor informed me on 1/15/08 that he had received a bad report about Zetia from a medical association. It does not clear the veins as earlier reported.

I started taking Zetia two months ago because I had to stop taking Zocor , because my liver was not good! This Zetia was awful!! I had joint pain, muscle aches,Dizziness!,DEPRESSION !!!,stomach pain, and feeling very tired-- all the time. I became very alarmed when I found on my e-mac , information Data about Zetia risks was not fully revealed.12-21-07 New York Times. And now more data,12-12-07 New York Times;Trial of Cholesterol Drug Gets House Scrutiny! It seems a Congressional committee is investigating MERCK and Schering-Plough for their handling of a critical clinical trial of Zetia, their blockbuster Cholesterol-lowering drug. etc. Again, the DRUG companies , it seems, are not telling the truth to our doctors, and their patients. This has to CHANGED!Read More Read Less
