This was prescribed for a painful boil in the genital area. The boil quickly began to drain and heal and the doctor said the other small, developing ones near it will go away. HOWEVER -- on the night of the second day I had abdominal pain and insomnia. Then for 2 days I was incredibly tired. Now on day 5, I am feeling better. Thankfully, my doctor said I can take it for 7 days, not 10 as he originally prescribed, so I have only 2 days to go! I hope I NEVER have to take this stuff again!

I would not recomend this medication. My daughter is 7 years old and her doctor perscribed it for a UTI. She was so sick she couldn't get out of bed, vomiting, high fever, disoriented. When I finally took her back in her kidneys were inflamed from the drug and we may have to admit her to the hospital. Please do not give this medication to your child.

yes it cleared up the infection but has made my mother extremely tired, can't keep her eyes open for 4 days. Has red blotches on her feet and caused her "good" knee to swell up. I'm hoping to see all these symptoms diminish soon as she is done with the treatment.

I have been taking this medication for 5 days now and the whole entire time I have been nauseated and the last two days I have felt like I have something stuck in the bottom of my throat and it's burning! I've also been very tired, and haven't had much appetite or energy. I guess I'm going to just stick it out I only have 4 doses left but if it were up to me I would NEVER get on this medication again. I do not like it.

I have taken this drug many times. with varied results. I guess it depends on what type of infection you have. But this time I thought I had a spider bit on the arch of my foot but after reading some elses review I was (am) having the same reaction only on the left foot. Baking soda and water paste helped also I put some athlets cream to stop the itching. It is not so bothersome and is going away. Have to take all the pills though.....want this to be gone

I took two a day at 800-160mg for ten days. I have chronic severe infections. This med helps substantially, but I bet should have been on it longer ( i will have another one in a week) I did notice feeling sunburned even though I was not, and every night I had crazy dreams while taking this. On the third day my abdomen swelled up and was cramping and sore. I almost went to the ER, then decided it was just my body expelling the infection. I felt much better on day 4 & 5. Even my energy level started to return. I initially went to the DR starting to think I had Cancer I had no idea a kidney infection could wreak suck havoc on our bodies. I'm so glad I went. Went on Bactrum-DS for 10 days due to pseudomonus infection from stepping on a rusty nail. First 10 days, no problem. Brought the infection down 90%. After the first day of a second regimen it was awful, Terribel sick stomach, headache, leg cramps, rash, virtigo, shaky. Only stayed on it for 4 of the recommended 10 days. Had to stop. Still having bad side effects two days later.

I have only been on the medication for 3 days and so i cant say anything about how well its working but i have been sick to my stomache, throwing up, and constant terrible headaches. Worse headaches i have ever had. But I just have to tough it out cuz i dont want cyst to come back.

I am post menopausal, and I keep getting these infections.The pills are too large but my M.D. doesnt advice crushing them up. Im on my 3rd day taking this drug. It seems to be helping.

I was prescribed SMZ TMP for an abscess resulting from an incompletely cleaned out laceration. After 5 days of the 10 day regime, I had severe diarrhea, a persistent headache and extreme fatigue. It was bad enough I stopped taking it. It has been two weeks since I stopped taking it and I still have diarrhea, despite taking probiotics, acidophilus (sp?), and changing my diet. I now have to go back to another doctor to get this fixed... which if the original emergency room doctor had done his job right, none of this would have happened. I have never had any reaction in the past to taking other antibiotics- and, as I suffer from recurrent sinus infections, I've taken quite a few. Today is 5th day on medication; I am having stomach upset and mild diarrea with cramps. But will stick with it, to get over the infection.

Foot fungus blister caused infection. After 5 days the infection and pain are worse. Thus far the drug has been useless to me.

i have just begun (day one 6/09) little queezy but to be expected with most anti- bios. will continue ttreament for duation ,7 days i'll keep you posted. thanks p.s. can't realy rate product yet until i can see resuts my stars are for posting.

No problems what so ever. I took this medication along with a dairy and gluten free probiotic (which restores the natural balance of good bacteria in my digestive tract) and did not have any side effects. I took the medication for the prescribe time and infections is gone.

It made me nauseous,extremely tired, headache, mood change, aches and pains as though I had the flu'. Took at least3-4 days to have any effect on the infection. A thoroughly unpleasanr experience. I wil never have this drug prescribed again.

I was having recurring urinary tract infections, a new one every 5-6 weeks for almost a year. My doctor prescribed SMZ/TMP for me in a low-dose form that I take daily. I am in month 4 out of 6 and have never had any side effects and have not had an infection since I started, yeah!

I broke out in a rash, felt very bad, flu like systoms and stomach not at all well,very tired and glad to find out i wasn't just lazy, it was the pill, I went off it and still have the infection after 1 week.
