After a terrible experience with fluoxetine in the past, I was hesitant to try any other SSRIs, but lexapro has been a real life saver. I started taking it for depression and GAD, and about a month after I got up to 20mg/day, it finally kicked in and I feel amazing. I no longer feel utterly hopeless and useless; I don't dwell constantly on negatives or worry incessantly about everything (in fact, ...

It made me really sick to my stomach, made me sleep all the time, I had muscle cramps, a worse period and it actually worsened my depression. I think I'm just a quirk though because most people I know where just fine on it.

I have been the happiest for quite a while on this medication. My only concern is that I am trying to get pregnant and fear I may have to stop it.

I was on 10 mg/day for depression. The drug helped with my depression but I felt that I could not always think straight. I experienced weight gain, a decreased sex drive, and major hot flashes on this medication. I decided to discontinue it and have been experiencing some withdrawal symptoms such as dizziness throughout the day, increased agitation, and others. Overall, I am glad to be off of the drug. I had mild depression and now with some lifestyle changes, I feel I can manage without the medication. For me, the side effects were not worth it.Read More Read Less

I suffer from moderate to severe OCD. Lexapro (and Celexa) has been the drug that has worked best for me. I've taken almost every SSRI and Lexapro has the fewest side effects and is most effective. It's not perfect... but, I have cognative-behavioral therapy to help there!

I was going through a divorce and was having anxiety issues and also severe depression. Within 5 weeks I saw a difference in myself and have been exetremely pleased with results of this medication. I have been on it for 9 months and can honestly say it has been the best thing to happen to me ever. I use to cry all the time even at commercials and now I have better demeanor and even have a better outlook on life. I would definitely recommend this drug for helping with anxiety and depression.

I have been taking Lexapro since I was 18. It has helped a lot with my depression and my anxiety. I can certainly tell if I forget to take it. I do not like being so dependent on the drug though. If I dont take it every day, I have horrible side effects. I get dizzy, extremely irritable, and nausiated. I haven't experienced any weight change since I've been taking the drug, I just have horrible hot flashes and dry mouth. Overall, the medication has helped my anxiety and although the side effects suck, I can't imagine not taking LexaproRead More Read Less

I would not take this medicine again. It worked pretty well for my anxiety and depression, but there were too many negative side effects. I lost interest in sex, gained weight, and got frequent headaches. I had to wean off of it when I found out I was pregnant and weaning caused me nausea, headaches, tiredness, dizziness, depression, and mood swings. Also, when I started the medicine I did not feel like myself for the first few weeks. I felt drugged up and out of it.
