My rating is on the old Actifed. It was the only allergy med that would help me. The mfg has changed the ingredients. It does not contain Triprolidine anymore. I'm trying to find a med that does contain Triprolidine. I only took 1/2 tab and it worked fine without making me sleepy.

I usually take this medication on a night as it does make me really drowsy. I haven't taken it through the day for that reason so not sure if it would affect me the same way during the day. It works well to help with decongestion and since it makes me drowsy I get a good nights sleep and the rest helps my body to fight the illness. HOWEVER, every time I take this I have very vivid and intense dreams, not necessarily nightmares, though that has happened too. My dreams are just scarily clear. That being said, I do recommend the product because it helps shift cold and flu very quick and I only ever take it for a night or two.Read More Read Less

Initially, I was suffering with a headache in the very top of my head, not realizing a sinus cavity was located there. I had to leave work and go to my mother's. After two hours of severe pain, I had the thought that just maybe it was being caused by conjestion. I took a Actifed tablet in the outside chance it would help. It worked like a miracle and I have been using it ever sense. It has been very difficult to find this product in any stores lately.

Actifed is the only OTC medication that has helped me with my allergy/cold symptoms, it's inexpensive, and I haven't had any side effects. One drawback is I have to get it when the pharmacy is open, since they keep it behind the counter. Another is it does only last about 6 hours, and since I don't really like waking up to take another tablet, that can be a nuisance. But, it's the best product I've found for keeping me relatively comfortable during colds or allergy season. I get the generic for it.Read More Read Less
