I am a 48 y.o university professor, - after years of frustration and depression because of my procrastination habits and, as I described it, a lack of engagement between my brain and my body. I finally went into therapy just over a year ago at the urging of my wife and was diagnosed with ADHD. I started taking Adderall about 8 months ago. I have found that Adderall is very effective at helping me...

I am a mental health therapist, and reading these reviews of Adderall makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. I am also taking adderall, and know in my heart that I am addicted, and struggle with knowing this everyday. With not wanting to refill my script, but knowing that the addict in me will call my doctor and get a refill. Knowing that I will become emotionless and cold, sleepless ...

This drug has been a life saver for me. I am the typical ADD patient. My mind was racing in a hundred directions at once so I wasn't able to focus on anything. Addy helps me slow down and focus my brain enough to acutally complete the tasks I need to and to do it efficiently. Of course, in the beginning, I got a few side effects - dry mouth, appetite loss, diarrhea (dont take with coffee - TRUST ME), and some insomnia. I also found myself craving cigarettes for some odd reason. I found that if I ate a meal before taking it in the morning that it almost eliminated most of them. After a few months your body will get used to it. I DO recommend that if you don't need it on the weekends that you don't take it. That way, your body won't be as likely to get addicted to it. I've been taking it for 4 years and I LOVE IT. Read More Read Less

I have always been successful in life, but at extreme measures (which I thought were normal). After finding out my older brother had ADHD I started looking into it. What I found was I was a dead on case. So it's been 2 weeks on Adderal and it has made my life easier on every level. Keep in mind it is a stimulant so follow the dose and be true to yourself and talk with your doctor about your reactions on the drug. Sleep and appetite our at times and issue, but remember to eat frequently and don't take adderall near bed-time. The positives far out weigh anything else. You can actually go thru life and take things as they come. It doesn't have to feel like you against the world when facing tasks, challenges etc. A+ for this... Read More Read Less

After trying a few different similar drugs I found that this worked best. With others I lost weight and felt sickly 24/7 (sick to my stomach, weak, lightheaded, dry mouth, just generally terrible). I started taking Adderall, initially in a VERY small dose and I noticed significant improvement. My doctor and I played with the dosage and I'm so happy with the result. The ONLY set back is feeling jittery every now and again. The best solution for that is just to make sure you're eating an appropriate amount. Not tons, but just spread out small meals and snacks and this won't pose a problem. Eating this way is way more healthy anyways. So now I can focus and feel very optimistic about getting things done everyday instead of dreading everything and having no energy, will or attention to finish things (school work). Great drug. I was very nervous to start taking it because I normally refuse all medicine... but this REALLY helped. Just be careful with dosage and eating.Read More Read Less

I am ADHD and currently taking Strattera and I have to say with Adderall, I feel great and can focus much more and with Strattera, I am sick to my stomach everyday and my attention span still sucks. For severe cases of ADHD, like myself, choose Adderall over Strattera.

I've been taking adderall for six years now, and I feel that without it I am far less likely to succeed. This medication has helped me tremedously in Middle and High school, as well as now in college.

I can concentrate and finish school work. Ritalin didnt work but this makes me actually function like I should. (Words of my 16 y.o. son with ADHD-Adderall means the difference between "A"s and "F"s for Him. Affects appetite and sleep minimally.

This drug worked for me, but my husband began using it, and abusing it in order to stay up all night. He is having severe mood swings (bordering bipolar disorder), is paranoid, violent, irrational, and unpredictable. He refuses to consider that it is the medication. I have noticed a pattern with him; each time he has a big project at work that he needs to put in a lot of overtime on, he takes excess amounts of the Adderall. Each time this happens, we have huge and dangerous fights, often started over some minor incident. For instance, he accused me of being an irresponsible wife, mother, parent because I did not walk the dog every day. I'm seeing a therapist regarding how to deal with his changes in behavior and irrational and volitile temperment. Read More Read Less

My son in law has become a different person while on adderall. He is now hostile and violent hears things that are not there has become paranoid and driven. He is arrogant and actually has manic episodes- This was one of the nicest people I have ever known and this is a real tragedy. He is frightening and although he is under the treatment of a psychiatrist he is worse than before he went to this psychiatrist who prescribes and analyzes his childhood but does not deal with the present behavior. I am at a loss and fear for him and his family with small childrenRead More Read Less

Totally kills sex drive. My dose (150 mg.) seems to wear off after approx. 8 hours. The positive effect is I am totally focused and able to concentrate better (for 8 hours)than when I was not taking the medication.

Doctors are so afraid of the DEA breathing down their necks that they refuse to prescribe this very helpful drug. I am very lucky to have found a sympthetic doctor.

I have stuggled with not knowing what was wrong with me for years, wondering why I could sleep for 10 hours a night, wake up and got right back to sleep 2 hours later and do this all day long. Going through all the test of throid glands, ADD & ADHD, sleep tests, breathing tests, and finally something that works for me. I am so happy with this i cant put it into words

Easy to give. Capsule opens with granules that can be mixed with applesauce. Ok for ADHD, however, caused severe loss of appetite.

After a general symptom evaluation with my doctor, I was prescribed Adderal and it had an extremely limited effect on my symptoms. On top of that, it had an adverse effect on my sexual performance and decreased my sex drive considerably. This isn't to say it won't be effective for others, but it simply wasn't for me.
