I was taking Methotrexate injections for 5 years. Because of my age my new RA doctor wanted to switch me off to try Sulfasalazine for reproduction reasons. I have been on Sulfasalazine (2x AM - 2x PM) for about 9 months and I love it! The only side effect I have noticed is the color change of my urine. Other than that blood work is all normal. I've only experienced ONE mild flare up once over the ...

before taking Sulfasalazine, I was in severe pain with every step taken. I was diagnosed with angolosing spondilitis, which means stiff spine. It is what makes people with this disease bend over and their spine stays bent. My problem is more in my sacrum but may advance to my spine. Sulfasalazine takes the pain away and I`m able to walk and stand up straight.I have my blood tested every three months and I`ve benn on it since Nov. 07. I hope this helps someone.

Effective at low dose for 3 years, but now at 5 years at max dose no longer very effective. Also, it effects birth control pills.

Exstreme tiredness, muscle pain/weakness, headache & dizziness associated with fever and chills. I have been on sulfasalazine for two months. I feel worse then I did when I was going through a flare up.

I had rectal bleeding for over 10 years and tried asacol, prednisone and salofalk. This medication was the only one that stop the bleeding. I also have ankylosing spondylitis and this medication is fantastic

I have been using this for 30 years without side effects other than deep yellow urine. Increases the time between crohn's disease attacks. Inexpensive. 2000mg am, 2000mg pm.

I felt much less pain and stiffness for about a year, but the drug lost effectiveness after 2 years and the inflammation flared up again. I have now switched to chloroquinine.

I switched from Asacol due to loss of insurance and the need to pay cash for meds. Overall, the side effects are quite dipilitating with constant low level nausea, headache, and fatigue. I'm also required to take tablets 4 times a day so compliance is a big issue. I hope I can get back on the Asacol soon, but I am at least thankful that a months supply of this drug is approx $60 versus the $400+ for Asacol.
