Quinapril can cause a severe dry cough, to the strangling stage. It is extremely scarey. I found I am allergic to ace inhibitors.

Went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with ANGIOEDIMA. Throat was nearly swollen closed. This is after taking this drug for YEARS. I have always complained of "stellagtites" in my throat, and have had siezures at night due to apnia. Could the conditions be related?

I just found out that a dry cough that I've had for a couple of months could very well be caused by this medicine! I have coughed till I choke & even vomit! Didn't know why-what was wrong with me! NOW Dr tells me that it is a side effect.

I was given this drug for a few years, recently told by my physician NO WOMEN SHOULD BE TAKING IT, that it explained all of the bizzar symptoms I had ( for years), one was a 2 day in hospital for bi-lateral persalisis, could not speak move. Had caused all along many problems with numbness tingling ( mostly facial, and extremities. He has changed the med to one that is the same primary med just "skipps" over how it goes into my system. Still having numbness tingling... after reading the warnings I had not gotten, I do have CFIDS ( with fibromyalgia), also too many years on anti inflamitory ( kidney/liver warnings always now come up if listed as side efffect), so maybe...all of those warnings, plus the comment from my physician? it was a bad choice.Read More Read Less

I've taken this medication for a month - caused some serious dry cough which has led to a sinus infection now. Dr. gave me samples of Diovan to try for a few weeks to see if that will help me.
