I have been dealing with chronic pain for years. This med is pretty helpful. I use it along with a muscle relaxant and one for nerve pain. The three together work in concert, but it's not all that great on it's own, because it's one I've developed a tolerance to. I am fortunate to be one who does not develop addictions, but dependency is inevitable, when used for as long as I have. The current dem...

I have two bulging discs L4/L5/S1 and it had been causing tremendous pain. I was on the lidoderm patches and percocet, first 5/325, then 7.5/325, then 10/325 and 15/325 every 6 hours with no relief for over 6 months. Finally, they tried something new and I was prescribed 2mg Hydromorphone 1-2 every 6 hours. I took 1 which helped a little then an hour later I took a 2nd tablet. An hour later, I the pain was almost completely diminished. I had no sleepiness, dizziness or anything with it. Occasionally I feel like I need it more often than q6hrs but for the most part it has been miraculous. I do have constipation but that is a small price to pay.Read More Read Less

I suffer from extreme pain caused by a combination of severe fibromyalgia, arthritis and trying to heal after a severe fracture of my pelvis. I was taking Norco 10/325. I've tried all routes including PT, OT, reducing pain with brain control and psyvhotherapy for years but on a pain scale of 1-10 I was at a steady 8 (not acceptable). I have gained more pain control with this drug and have not had any side effects. I'm alert, and able to do so much more now.

Vicodin didn't relieve all the pain associated with cancer (esophagus, stomach, and liver). My Dr recommended dilaudid... The first I took it within twenty minuets the pain and discomfort was gone and it didn't mess with my head.

My dr put me on Dilaudid 8mg instead of Oxycodone 30mg for breakthrough pain and it works better, lasts longer and I don't get any negative side affects. I have always had a very high tolerance to pain meds even before experiencing chronic pain and having to take meds on a regular basis. Even the at the dentists, I would have to get 4-5 shots of Novacain and it never completely numbed my mouth. This tolerance is a curse as you require more and if you get the wrong dr, they may look at you and judge you thinking you're using to get high. I have never had the high feeling, the pain simply goes away for a period of time allowing me to have a better quality of life. However, if I do too much around the house or play too long with my son I tend to feel more breakthrough pain and then I'm back to sitting or laying down for a couple of days so I don't make all the places that hurt worse. It's hard to be sadate when you finally get the relief you need. But it's necessary so that you don't aggravate your body more and get even more symptoms. Go easy, take your time and follow the drs dosage. This way you can have the quality of life we all deserve.Read More Read Less

I have had FM for 20 years and my legs don't work most of the time. I use the fentanyl patch with dilaudid for break through pain. I some times get sick from this so i take stuff for that, then there is the constipation I take stuff for that. I have a hard time sleeping, a pill for that. I have some other issuses so i take pills for that. I know I take alot of meds, but at this time the combo works pretty will and really not to many side effects. oh then there is the vitamin B-complex to get me going in the morning. I'm one of the lucky one's with a great Doc who listens to me and will give me meds when I need them and will change them when they no longer work.Read More Read Less

I take fentanyl 100mcg./hr.as my extended relief analgesic.I use the hydromorphone 4mg.1 or 2 tablets QID for breakthrough pain.I normally take 2 of the tablets(8mg.)TID and find this dosage to reduce my pain on a 10 point scale down to a 2-2.5.This drug really is great for my pain medication. It never ceases to amaze me for my breakthrough pain relief!
