Divalproex is the third bipolar med I've tried, and it's the first that doesn't feel like a complete waste of money. I do get some slight tremors after my morning dose, but that's the only side effect I've experienced (my liver function's actually improved since I switched from lithium). There's a definite difference in my mood, too -- I'm far less irritable and edgy on divalproex than I felt on l...

I have been plagued by headaches all my adult life, over 40 years. Finally, I have been able to stop taking Excedrin 12 a day!! Now I don't wake up with a headache every day, and even if I do, its usually not as bad as before. Divalproex has worked wonders for me!!

Since I have been on this medication I haven't experienced a seizure. I take it once a day in the evening and sleep well and wake up without any problems.

Was prescribed for a 12 year old boy. After two months large iridescent bruises appeared. Took off medication. Started taking Singular 10 mg and headaches have dropped from every day to once a week.

I was prescribed this drug in addition to Buproprion which I have taken for years. My main problem is that I am a vet and suffer from PTSD and I can't get my mind to shut off. This med has slowed down my thought patterns. I can still function, but I don't have massive confusion. I do suffer from short term memory delay which in my case is worth the trade of having "peace" in my head. I also suffer from fibromyalgia. I have not seen much improvement in that area. Over all I am pleased. I do suffer some vision problems but as time goes on they seem to be less. I take it at night so I do sleep. Again, the biggest thing this drug has done for me is slow my racing thoughts down. I feel less impulsive, less edgy and less nervous. I have also been able to decrease my anxiety medication significantly. I do have slight tremors. BUT...For all that is negative, there is much more that is positive.Read More Read Less

my daughter was given this medication in place of depakote. She had been taking it since october 2008. since being on it she has had burst of out rage, uncontrollable bloody noses, no period. It's still affect for the seizures. but the side effects are terrible and now i have to fight the insurance company to get the brand name drug back for her. I am very disappointed in what this drug has done to my 14yr old child and wouldn't recommend anyone putting a child on it.

After a year on Topamax, recently stopped using it because the side effects had changed from bothersome and annoying to serious. Have been on Divalproex for 5 weeks. Have had lots of headaches and migraines in that short time, and my hair is falling out like crazy :( Doc decided it's time to try a third med. Prescribed Amitriptyline, but I'm concerned I'll have some of the same side effects (crazy heart rate/trouble breathing/blurred vision) that made me end Topamax after reading reviews.
