Trauma caused by a damaged sphinkster due to a 1954 haemorrhoid operation, compacting and painful defecation made a normal life, particularly travel etc. very difficult. I feel, my quality of life was saved in 2005 after some 50 years of pain and frustration, by some doctor who knew what his was doing. Two teaspoons of Peglyte powder in water before bed time and a new life began.-- I experimen...

They have to do a better job of making this prep palatable. It does what its intended to do but ingesting it is very difficult ie very poor taste in spite of "fruit flavoring".

Disgusting unpalatable stuff. Ive taken other medicines previously for this without such nausea or difficulty. Doctors at this clinic insisted I use Peglyte. was instructed to leave a litre out of 4 to drink at 5 am fora 9 am colonoscopy. Next time Ill take Citromag or Picosalyx. Hated the experience and the clinic

I consumed first half in preparation for a colonoscopy june 29,20 when hospital cancelled due to flood. I wrote co asking if I could buy half (140g)& no jug as I still had half in fridge only 9 days old(package says good for 30 days in fridge). Got an unsigned form letter saying toss it out and buy 280g w/jug. Actually it said DO NOT MIX WITH NEW JUG I WILL BUY(LOL THERE). IOW it's useless-toss it. This is wrong on 2 counts: 1)save plastic and save me $30+ is not THEIR option 2)sending an unsigned form letter that doesn't even refer to what I took the time to write is just ignorant in my books. Too big for me to deal with!!Read More Read Less

I followed the directions on the bottle but found no adjustments according to weight of the patient. It worked but very forcefully. I spent most of the morning in the bathroom.

Hated the flavour, which made it difficult to swallow? Could it not be cranberry or even unflavoured?

I figure by morning, if I don't go. I will likly end up with another rupture and require surgery to correct it. This med may work for many folks But heed warning is not for all. & to make things worse the dr. never listined to my history. Was just in a rush to get me out of the way. ( I aint no rich folk or movie star) In Canada there is an invisable 3 levels of care for everyone even those on the same free insurance plans. The less your states, the less the care & follow up care you are offered. May as well live in another country. Read More Read Less

My 88 year old father's family doctor prescribed 1 glass of peg-lyte a day to relieve his constipation. Slowly Dad's leg muscles started to stiffen, his body was becoming rigid. When he couldn't walk to the bathroom one morning I rushed him to the hospital. Blood tests revealed that his potassium level was at an amazing low of 4 . Doctors had never seen a living human with such low potassium. While in the emergency Dad suffered 3 consecutive cardiac arrests at 20 minutes interval. He survived because he had a very strong heart and great medical staff. Moreover, a whole life of rigorous physical training and athletics played an important part in saving his life. His recovery was long and arduous but he remained with us three more years. Doctors at the hospital condoned the use of peg-lyte to relieve constipation particularly in elderly patients. It washes away minerals and electrolytes. Please take heed and beware.Read More Read Less

There are no side effects, except perhaps a mild increase in flatus. It is no exaggeration to say that this doctor deserves a medal. Age 87, Male,in very good shape otherwise. Read More Read Less

Very salty, made my stomach feel sick and full. I found that I only had to drink 1/3 of the solution to do the trick.
