I took one tablet in the morning, started to work within 2 hours. Only problem I am having is with the cramps from it being a stimulant laxative and I have the need to go to the bathroom very frequently. However, the laxative does what I expect of it and would recommend. Make sure you drink plenty of water though.

I’m recovering from a hysterectomy and I’m about 7 days post op. The pain medication most definitely has constipated me and I was looking for a gentle softener. My doctor recommended Senokot-S to me which is the laxative and stool softener. I will never take this medication again. About 7 hours after taking 2 pills, I started to get cramping…it gradually got worse and more frequent and it lasted for 6 straight hours. I was crying in pain and having my bowels spasm and cramp so severely after abdominal surgery was horrible. I had 2 small bowel movements during that time until the cramps were so close together and non stop pain until I finally had an explosion of diarrhea…everything that was ever in my bowels was expelled all at once. Is it effective? Absolutely. You will be empty. Is it painful? Absolutely, i don’t recommend it unless you are prepared to hurt a lot. I’m comparing this kind of pain to childbirth and kidney stones. I have constipation due to my medication for my blood pressure (Carvedilol). I tried Philip's milk of magnesia but that made me go so much that my rectum was sore. I like natural products so I found Senokot regular strength pills. I took two of them in the morning and it started helping within 12 hours and I didn't have a sore rectum from it. I got a little cramping but that's to be expected from a stimulant laxative product. I will continue to use it but only if needed.

I had surgery and the medication and anesthesia caused constipation. When given Senokot it worked without causing abdominal distress.

I took this medication expecting it to work within 6-12 hours, started working 3 hours later after bad gas and stomach cramps I had one hard small bowel movement. 7 hours after that, 1 more small hard bowel movement, and about 10 minutes after that I had strong, explosive diarrhea on and off for the rest of the day. Would not recommend because for about 24 hours after taking the medication I was either experiencing extreme gas or the extreme need to use the bathroom quickly and painfully. Took one tablet. Reaction: One day and two nights of diarrhea(every thirty minutes)and vomiting (twice)Drank soup all next day. At night amazing flatulence. Ate solids next day, diarrhea started again. Back to soup. Extreme fatigue

some mornings it produces two BMs within an hour or two of each other. other than that I have no complaints, only guarded praise

I have just started using them twice a day and wonder if this is too many as I am also taking ducosate twice a day.My feces are very hard but I don't eat much any more at the age of 80 years.

the last time I took it....2 tablets at night and 2 tablets in the morning.........I got a lot of pain....vomited and liquid bowel movement. I noticed bright red blood in my rectum when I wiped. In the past I have always had good results.
