I was placed on Bactrim DS twice per day for seven days for a boil on my face (staph infection). On the second day of tx developed mild itching, felt spacey, low grade fever, loss of appetite and insomnia. Took 13 out of 14 doses and after two weeks of stopping treatment, I still have generalized itching / low grade fevers in the afternoons of 99.1 - 99.4, feeling of warmth all over face. Boil is now flat but still inflammed and have been placed on a Prednisone pack for 6 days due to a sulfa allergy. I have been on the prednisone for two days and have not experienced any relief from the itching.Read More Read Less

First day or two, tired and no appetite and red face, but feeling better after only 2 days. Less abdonimal pain and less frequent cloudy urine. Need to drink lots of water.

I had the worst experience with Bactrim. The side effects came on after my second dose. It started out with minor stomach cramping and tingiling in my fingers. Then quickly after the viens on top of my hands wrist and feet swelled up to the point I thought they were going to pop out. I then had severe stomach cramping to the point I couldn't stand up straight and my body began to shake. I continued to have the absolute worst kidney cramping of my entire life for 7 hours. I have had a severe reaction to Bactrim. It started with severe itching. Two days later I had severe muscle pain with thrush. I am 4 weeks past the initial reaction and still cannot taste food. My muscles are still sore and I have lost 10 lb. I am a cancer survivor and my chemo treatments were never this bad!

Ive been taking this medication for the last 4 days. I have been expirencing ichy skin yesterday and today, I also started feeling nausea today accompinied by a migraine.

This Rx has cleared up my MRSA but has made me nauseous and have a terribly dry mouth. No matter how much water I drink my mouth still feels dry and gritty. But my MRSA is gone and the related incision is nearly healed.

I'm on day 3 of this medication and I haven't experienced any of the side effects except for being slightly tired throughout the day. Most of my symptoms were gone by Day 2 and I feel almost back to my normal self today, very much worth being tired as long as I don't have to deal with a UTI.

This medicine has done NOTHING to help me

I am taking Bactrim for a skin infection and have experienced extreme insomnia every night. I have also seemed to have extra energy during the day, almost frenetic. Most worrisome has been a difficulty with breathing that I experienced when exercising on a rowing machine--I found it hard to draw in enough air and had to consciously try to make my chest relax. I did not experience this when using a stationary bike.l The skin infection has not responded to the medication yet.

Several months ago, I used this drug to treat MRSA and it cleared up the symptom and I did not have any side affects. 10 days ago, I started using this drug to treat a boil on the back side of my leg. The boil has cleared up well; but as of yesterday, I began to experience hives, itching, indegestion, and a sharp pain at the right side of my head above my ear. The itching and indegestion is pretty bad at present and wondering if I should call doctor or go to emerg. I've been on this for 3 days now, was on cipro previously and that didn't work. The symptoms of my UTI are gone and I have not experienced any side effects, just make sure you drink a lot of water with it.

I was told i had a severe uti infection. I had chills, no appetite, throwing up. After two doses i was in EXTREME pain. It seemed to intensify the the pain i already had with the infection. It gave me crazy anxiety and i was CONVINCED i was going to die and was having panic attacks. I had insomnia and intense diarrhea. I then broke out in a rash and a high fever. Also had weird symptoms like my teeth hurting and i couldn't eat anything. I spent the night shaking, rolling in pain, wanting to sleep, and praying for the medicine to kick in so i felt better. I saw doctor in the morning and she sent me straight to the hospital. At the time i thought it was my infection that made me feel this way, because i had never had a reaction to any medication before, later the doctor said it was a reaction to bactrim. I was experenceing lower back pain and dark color urine.I went to the doc and he told me i had a infection.He given me bactruim and it helped me with my infection.Still having lower back pain but not like i was.Little side affects,lightheadnes,headacke,tired.Took bactruim for 7 day treatment. I have 3 more days to go.Hope back pains stop i hate feeling blahhh..

I Went to the ER on a Friday after busting out in dizzy spells, cold sweets, nausea (and then vomiting ) and body shakes. I was told I had an inner ear infection. The Dr prescribed this to me to take X a day. Well it is now day 4 and NO RESULT!! Well, I take that back. I went in for a problem with the right ear, and now not only has it shown no improvement, but the left one is starting to hurt. Going to a specialist in the AM. Not a good med!!!

I was prescribed this medicine for a UTI/Kidney infection...I have had headaches and joint pain and my lower back right side abdominal area is killing me with annoying achy throbbing..I took last of 3 day dose this morning I hope it all goes away.

I am 16 weeks pregnant and was prescribed this medication by my obgyn. After taking the medication with milk and food as directed, I still experienced nausea and vomiting. I attempted to take it for two days of a three day regimen and cannot take it without severe side effects. I am in the process of asking my obgyn for an alternative antibiotic medication to try. I have never experienced side effects from antibiotics before. This was a terrible experience.

I was taking Macrobid for this infection and did not feel any better so called the Doctor and she put me on this antibiotic. I am nervous about it as the pharmacist told me she was severly allergic to this medicine. If I am allergic to it I won't know until I take it for 5 days then I will break out in a horrible rash/hives. Not good news for me. But I am going to continue taking it and hopefully it will kill this nasty bug!

Do not take any dairy products with this drug!! You will experience horrendous diarrhea and nausea.

Was prescibed Bactrim for MRSA. Seemed to be working somewhat, but after a week got a terrible rash all over. Stopped taking it on dr.s advice. Now on Erythro., with Prednisone for the rash, which is still around after 3 days.
